Fish

What is your favorite, and how do you prepare it?
How many times a week do you have it? I need to get back to eating fish again.

I like pan-fried in coconut oil or bake in butter tilapia filets.
Sometimes I'll coat with mayo, and crushed pork rinds then pan-fry or bake.

I want to try something new and different, and I don't know what the mahi mahi, and flounders, etc. tastes like. I'm not too crazy about cod, but see its high on the list for omega's.

I anchovies

My husband and I love to fish so some of my favorites are what we catch such as catfish, bluegill, crappie and striped bass. We've also caught trout and I like to can it and then make patties with it similar to salmon.

As for store bought fish I like tilapia but I recently been buying swai and I really like it. It has a very mild flavor and I like to bake it with a coating of crushed pork rinds seasoned with some rosemary garlic. If I fry it I also use an egg white wash and seasoned crushed pork rinds.

I also like to buy salmon and fry in a little olive oil and also season with the rosemary garlic.

Rosemary garlic is my favorite seasoning for fish. The only thing I don't use it on is catfish.

I eat fish once or twice a week. Like it broiled, cooked into chowders/stews. One of my best fish recipes, Oven-Fried Fish, is here, post #12: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...ats-yours.html Consistently cooks up nicely:

I love tilapia, can you describe the difference in flavor between it and the Swai? I didn't even used to like fish until I found out about getting it really fresh or the flash frozen and I just like a very milk white fish so far.

They are very similar but I think I prefer the swai, I think the biggest difference may be texture. I like a more firm textured fish and that's why I don't like grouper, too mushy. Swai is very mild, very white and has no fishy taste.

As for walleye, I've heard they are one of the best tasting fish but I've never had it. They are in the lake we fish in but I've never caught one...yet. One of these days hopefully but when we're at that lake we mainly focus on striped bass and you have to fish for walleye in a totally different manner and mainly at night.

One of my favorites is bluegill, but you have to catch a bunch of those little suckers to get a good meal, LOL.

I have salmon quite frequently and just broil it with butter and seasoning. A local grocery store had samples of their brand of special seasoning and I use that.

I also make a sandwich spread with canned salmon, mayo, celery, shredded cheese and dried onion.

I'm mostly into "easy".
