JUDDD/LC Diet ?

I know that Beeb and Peggy are trying this program out.
Probably many more. I wanted to find out if utilitzing the
JUDDD program with LC on UP Days and Low Calorie on the
Down Days has been helpful to you to continue losing weight?

My weight loss is slowed down toa snails pace.

Come check out the JUDDD threads! There are a lot of folks doing LC on their UDs, and any other combo that works for them individually. After struggling to get down to my goal weight on LC for YEARS, then finally getting there with hCG and struggling to maintain, JUDDD has been the answer. I've easily maintained below my goal weight for the last eight or nine months and have enjoyed it. Yes, it requires a lot of discipline every other day, but the reward is so sweet. So are my size 4 jeans.

The Down Days get easier after the 1st 2 weeks. Honestly, my husband and I have been following JUDDD with LC on DD's and just calorie counting with UD's and he is down 37 pounds and I am down 17 since 04/18. For our part, we typically never eat lower than 600-700 calories on a DD. HTH

It's sounds like a good diet if your body will allow it, mine won't. I think it would be really great if you can handle it.

YAY for everybody who can do it!!!!!!!!!!.

After 3 months, I got to where I could do the down days OK, but just didn't like the feeling of deprivation at 500 calories on the alternate days. It was a subtle undercurrent of stress and cortisol my body just doesn't need. I've been fighting chronic stress and cortisol for some years now, no doubt the major factor in my marathon stall of 2+ years. I'm the primary healthcare monitor/manager for my mother, who has dementia and who also lives 2.5 hours away.

An interesting additional observation: I found it also stifled my desire to create new dishes in the kitchen (an inactive website is a dead website), because I was always thinking about how little I would have to eat the next day. I noticed 5-7 (or more) days would lapse between website recipe postings. Whereas before JUDDD, I was posting new recipes every couple days, or even more often.

I just wasn't in my "happiest place" with IF I tried 2 years ago, or with JUDDD. As Jenny Ruhl says, one needs to pick the plan one is "happy with" if you are to stick with it, since ALL plans tend to get you to goal if you STICK WITH THEM. Therein lies success. For me, that would be regular, even food intake of healthy, clean, whole low-carb foods.

I've lost over 50lbs on it. It has been about the only thing to corral my hyperinsulinemia and get my blood sugars almost normal again. But we are all different and YMMV. And I so agree with Peggy, that we must pick the plan we like best and can stick with!!!

Peggy. So sorry it didn't work for you!!!

Oddly enough, I love cooking great stuff on DDs because it still allows me to interact with food and live vicariously through Denny! LOL. I'm one of those who don't always taste their recipes till they're done. Or I get Denny to taste for me and he tells me what needs adjusting! Score!

I tried it once for a little over a month just to see if I could do it. It was a problem for me because I'd cook regular low carb food on the Up Days and then couldn't eat the leftovers on the Down Days. There was going to be too much wasted food at my house for it to be practical. I lost about six pounds on JUDDD and then the weight loss stopped. However, it did jump-start my weight loss. I'd put on about 10 pounds around the holidays a year or so ago and was kind of stuck. After JUDDD got me going again, I found that I lost the rest of the weight even quicker once I went back to my regular low carb WOE.

It was also a struggle for me to go as low as 500 calories on Down Days. That wasn't enough food to keep me from starving all the time. I seemed to do better with at least 700-900 calories and that gave me a lot more food options. I ate between 1600-2000 on the Up Days. Before I quit doing JUDDD, I was finding that I'd lose a pound or two after a Down Day and would just gain it back the next Up Day. I wasn't making any more progress at that point. I was doing a strictly low carb version of JUDDD, by the way.

You know Linda, with you relating about the gaining and losing the same pounds, I will definitly say that I'm not eating anywhere NEAR what Dr. J's calculator says I should be eating on UDs.

It says I can have as much as 2043 on UD. I keep UD cals between 1400-1600 (if I can get them there. Some days are less!). And that's how I lose. If I had 500 on DD then turned around at ate 2043 on UD, I guarantee I would not see a loss and may even see net gains over weeks!

LOL about the too much food. I freeze so much now as leftovers! Ha! I really do save on food costs, cuz I'm only eating about 2/3's to 3/4's as much food as I used to eat!

I'm doing JUDDD now, most days low carb or moderately low carb. Some days are high carb blowouts. When I get more of a handle on this, I'm going to see if I can correlate the high carb blowouts with weight loss stalls or drops.

I will say that the leftovers issue was starting to drive me crazy, but I've since learned to be much better about using the freezer and/or putting my leftovers into my husband's lunch bag, which ultimately saved us enough money for me to be ok with throwing a few things out now and then.

Overall, my grocery bill has dropped. Now, let's see if my weight drops with it.

I failed but....

This is successful for some who feel that they are liberated
by this plan. Studies seem to be ongoing for the intermittent
fasting plans with some very good results. Some who feel that
this will be their maintenance plan for life. I am really happy for
those who are well and healthy on this kind of WOE.
Also I like to add that some of our LC Friends are doing very
creative cooking on their 'down days' making every calorie count.

My blood sugar got in the way. Couldn't go down far enough
without a low sugar result, headache, hunger, etc. I stick with LC and
need to tighten up my program and stop some bad habits.
Induction would be good for me right now.

Hopefully you all on JUDDD will keep us posted on how your are
doing. I went over to the JUDDD board and read and listened,
and saw the wonderful recipes.
