Spinoff: Let's Talk Salad dressing

What is your favorite?

I love the ranch they have at Texas Roadhouse and Outback but seriously do not like Hidden Valley and many other brands. Not sure what it is but it tastes bad to me. I think they use Hidden valley at Bob Evans and its yuck

Found one that I think is good finally after searches, and it comes from all places. Aldi's. It is in their refrigerated case, called Litehouse.

But I am up for suggestions and wonder what you all use. I cannot stand also to mix up ranch dressing in yogurt.

I have been making my own lately with EVOO, white balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard and a splash of soy sauce. Got this from the Food Network and it is currently my favorite!

Litehouse is one of my favorites and I used to buy it in quart jar containers at Sam's until they stopped carrying it. I mostly use Ken's buttermilk ranch now.

I bought Ken's Buttermilk Ranch and it tastes too close to Hidden Valley. I couldn't eat it. I would rather eat a salad just lettuce than this.

I like this one a lot. I buy it at kroger's. Thanks for posting that it is available at aldis. I'm sure it is cheaper there.

I also really like the caesar dressing by lighthouse. They have a few different flavors of ranch...one that is spicy that is pretty good.

I like the taste but I especially like the fact that it doesn't contain any soybean oil.

Here is one from Simply Recipes: Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing Recipe
Add to shopping list
INGREDIENTS
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 cup mayonnaise
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
• 1/8 teaspoon paprika
• 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
• 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
• 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives
• 1/4 teaspoon of dry dill (or a teaspoon chopped fresh)
METHOD
1 In a medium bowl, stir together the buttermilk and mayonnaise until fully mixed. Add in the other ingredients, adjusting for taste.
Keeps for a week, covered in the fridge.
Yield: Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Here is from Linda Sue's recipes: This makes a small batch:

1/8 teaspoon granular Splenda
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon dill
1/2 teaspoon chives
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, minced

Mix all of the ingredients and chill well before serving.

Makes about 7 tablespoons

1/4 tsp garlic powder (1 mL)
1/4 tsp salt (1 mL)
1/4 tsp black pepper (1 mL)

And here is a dry Ranch dressing from here at LCF's: RANCH-STYLE SALAD DRESSING MIX

Hope this helps, none have yogurt in them.

I saw an article in Consumer Reports magazine rating salad dressings and it rated Marzetti's Ranch the best, so I tried it and loved it. Made deviled eggs the other day with half mayo and half dressing and it was the best I ever made.

Also love Ken's creamy caesar.

Homemade is always the best, but I rarely do that.
