whole wheat pastry flour help...

Hi everyone...i wanted to pose a question..can ww pastry flour really be substituted for all purpose flour in most/to all recipes and keep them relatively low in carbs? if not, what would be the general approx. ratio for ww pastry flour in combo with carbquick/carbalose flour and let's say Jen E lc vita baking mix or gf bake mix in any given recipe?..... maybe too vague of a question..how about in a traditional pancake recipe or cake recipe? I have a few old carb ladden recipes i really want to convert to lc and or gf and i'm struggling on figuring out just how much of the carbquick to Jen's mix or ww pastry flour to cq to Jen's mix to use (even if that's possible) in any of those combinations in my recipes?? any suggestons would be greatly appreciated..i'm really dying to make some great buttermilk pancakes like those i use to make that were just all carbs and my family's cakelike biscuit recipe....

I can't answer your question. But check out Jen's blog 'cause she uses wwpastry flour.

Do you have any of her cook books. I don't know the carb count on ww pastry flour.
My question is if you want to use her GF bake mix, why would you want to put ww pastry flour in it?

You can make great pancakes and waffles using carbquik . There are ton's of recipes on here. Just start searching. If you find something just ask questions to make the way you want.

It's kinda vague but I hope I helped.

There are 23 carbs in 1/4 cup of Bob's Red Mill whole wheat pastry flour.

In comparison to Bob's Red Mill almond flour, there are only 6 carbs per 1/4 cup.

Maybe this will help too.

I've wondered about ww pastry flour too. How is it considered low carb?

It's not low carb. Neither are grits. (i've seen recipes here using grits) I love grits by the way, and wish they were low carb.

I think they make soy grits that are lower carb. Of course you have to be able to eat soy to enjoy them. I've never had them, but I love regular grits...esp. cheese grits.
