I wil have to try adding the coconut extract next time. It's good but I does need a little something.

Thanks Linda, I was using small glass bowls. I made it again tonight. Same result. Oh well, it's still yummy.

By the way Linda, your website has been really helpful. I jump back and forth between yours and here for inspiration and ideas. Thanks!

So far the record, I loved the creamy layer so much I decided to try the recipe with 1 cup HWC instead of 1/2 HWC and 1/2 cold water. It was tasty, but too much of a good thing. The original recipe is better. The separated jello makes the creamy part taste more special.

I made this last week. The first time I made the Raspberry flavor and used a small whisk (a small heavy coil type) to blend the hot & cold water in the Jello and also used it to add the HW Cream. I guess I whisked it too much. No separation.

The second time I made Orange flavor and only whisked the hot & cold water into the Jello and when I added the HW Cream, I just stirred it with a large tablespoon a few times. Nice separation!

I made half of the recipe for portion control.

Thanks for this wonderful recipe.

Nikki

I've made this a couple of times using raspberry and orange and the addition of the 1 tsp of coconut extract plus some sweeteners to the whipping cream made a great improvement. I added the 1 tsp of Superior Flavors Coconutti, 1 snort of stevia and 10-12 drops liquid splenda.

It is great even my husband likes it and he's never been a big fan of jello. I've always liked this recipe but it seemed to lack something but with those additions it tastes wonderful.

I'm going to work on a banana flavored one.

Your Avatar is great. Is that you?

No you don't need to cool jello . Mix it all together. Good luck.

Yes that's me. Thank you! My face is a bit puffier/fattier now though

I just dumped it in. It's sitting in the fridge in 4 containers with lids. It's lemon and lime, so it's very green! It separated quite quickly. I checked it after an hour.

I remember the 1-2-3 jello dessert, I used to make it once in a while... except I used cool whip. You use a blender and it came out perfect, every time. Just google jello 1-2-3 dessert to see the pics! So I wonder if you just sub the cream (for the cool whip) and use a blender, if that is the trick. Because that's how I always did it, sooo easy and perfect every time!

What You Need
3/4
cup boiling water
1
pkg. (0.3 oz.) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Sugar Free Gelatin, or any flavor
Ice cubes
1/2
cup cold water
1/2
cup thawed COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping
Make It

ADD boiling water to gelatin mix iin medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Pour into blender. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 1-1/4 cups; add to blender. Blend 30 sec. or until smooth.

ADD COOL WHIP; blend well.

POUR into 4 dessert dishes. Refrigerate 20 min. or until firm.

So I just realized the recipe I posted above is practically identical to the OP except the original was doubled. so I think the key is the blender! works every time can't wait to try it out again! I kind of remember thinking "don't over blend" like that was key or something, but it's not mentioned in the recipe so hmm.

I made this over the weekend and it was wonderful. I made it with raspberry sugar free and it separated.

I was so proud of how pretty it looked and attempted to show my daughter who when I told her it was jello she prompted replied "gross" and would not look. She doesn't like jello.

I ate the entire thing. I loved the cream layer and then even the jello portion tasted slightly different too.

I must try the orange now.

Thank you for posting this recipe.

Just made this with Cherry jello. The layers did separate for me, one pink and one red.

This is yummy!! Mine did separate, all I did was use a whisk.

Here's a pic, it's not that great because its night time so the lightening isn't that good. I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow.

This treat was pretty good. Def. great for summertime! I took the suggestion to serve it in goblets/party glasses. As I was eating it (pictures are below) I'm thinking the 'fruitier' the jello flavor the more enjoyable this will be.... orange, lemon, and lime. The only flavor I had available was cherry; still good though!

Again, this recipe can also be found here under CREAMSICLE JELLO.

Love the recipe and serving in clear cocktail glasses looks so festive! Could see adding a squirt of canned whipped cream with some strawberry slices or a raspberry. Great inspiration.

I made this last night with SF Raspberry Jello. It's really good - but next time I'm going to only use 1/2 cup of heavy cream. I think that will give a thicker layer of regular jello and a thinner layer of cream.

BUMP

Bumping this up, b/c as some people are trying to figure out what to put on their Holiday menus, this works wonderfully, and still allows you to stay on plan.

I "fell off the wagon" in November, and have used this recipe to satisfy my dessert tastebuds, it's helped me lose over 8lbs so far this month (in conjunction with other low carb menu foods)!

Enjoy!

This looks wonderful. I have been making jello and just putting chopped celery in it and putting it in a 7X11 cake pan. I am excited to have something to change it out. Thanks for the recipie.

Oops!

I whisked in the cream after the jello dissolved then whisked in the cold water. It's in the fridge setting right now. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm sure it will taste fine but I'm curious to see if it separates or stays opaque.

Awesome, Queen_SB! This is one of my Summertime favorites! I like raspeberry, black cherry, and lime the best.
