Thanks, pico. The Scotch eggs are one of my favorites as well.

The mushroom recipe looks good, but kind of complicated (remember who you're talking to). If you ever get really motivated and end up making that, please take pictures and break it down into really easy steps. I'd love to add it to the cookbook.

Hi Paul...I am also a fairly new gabby lcf member.
I would like to make a few "friendly comments" about your Low Carb Cookbook for Men.
You sound like someone who can take something in "fun"

I jotted down a few things that came to mind...if you don't mind! (I hope not)
I am gabby also...but a bit shy so I am going out on a limb here just because I think you are very funny and I like how you think.

Starting the cookbook...even though it is supposed to be for men, first thing I notice is "My Mother Did Not Teach Me To Cook" oh sure blame the Mother...don't they all?...I say this as the Mom of four young men who do like to cook...except my youngest who needed to be born in a different era where the women did all the cooking and cleaning.(lol) Then I notice your Educational Qualifications. Impressive to me as I flunked Science and the minute I look at something mechanical confusion reigns in my mind, and I fall to the floor like a baby and scream at the top of my lungs for my husband to come running because fixing anything that moves is such an emotional ordeal for me. Now my sister loves to figure such things out...so I know all females do not have this reaction.
So a BS in Kinesiological Science...BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering...and you don't understand why we need different size pans? And Cookbooks are confusing? (scratching my head in wonder)
I also was hoping that in that one part you were NOT "projecting"!

But all kidding aside I really enjoyed the whole experience of the Cookbook and the Ten Commandments and agree whole totally with what you are saying and love the way you are saying it in the story at the end...which is my favorite part and one I think you should find a way to post it here...

I think you protest too much about not being a writer as I sense a lot of talent in the way you express your self. It is in such a way that makes one think...about their own life as they read about yours. I very much enjoyed your story and I am sending it to one of my sons who I think will enjoy it also...Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for the kind words, artsy.

Well, I do kinda "blame" my mother. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom and everything. It's just that she liked (likes) to control things. If she controls something, that means people need her. If we learned how to cook, she would have lost that control.

Yeah, despite all my education, the kitchen always scared me. It always frustrated me when people would tell me, "Oh, cooking is easy. Just follow the recipe." Bull. There really is a knack for the culinary arts and to knowing one's way around a kitchen. I'm great with abstract concepts, a soldering iron, and even all kinds of lab equipment. But cooking really is very different.

Oh, yes, I was SO projecting! And I continue to hope, but to no avail.

Glad you like my writing. I think my story was kind of corny, but I had fun writing it. I'm thinking about a follow up. Maybe you can be my creative consultant...

Later,
Paul

I understand about the kitchen confusion...I am not perfect at it...I just try to make things taste good because I like to eat good things.

I did not find your story corny at all. I was just diagnosed last August with Diabetes and my whole world fell apart for awhile. I did not have any choice but to start paying attention to what my body was saying to me. If I want to have any kind of fulfilling future I must take care of it. In a way for me the Diabetes was a help to push me hard in a direction I needed to go.

I do think that your story is a great way of illustrating how out of connection our mind is with what is going on with our bodies. You are able to say it in a way that makes it less tedious to hear. We hear it all the time...but a lot of us take it with a grain of salt until like I heard from my Doctor...Diabetes is not reversible...THAT is life changing.

I am not qualified to tell you how good your writing is...there are sites online that will read your work and give you professional feed back...and they do it free I think. You might want to think of doing that. I bet you wouldn't hear Corny.

And as a recovering control freak...and Mom...trying to control everything around you can come from a LOT of fear inside, and it is very life stealing...I hope your Mom can find her way out of it.

Hi Paul,
I'm always looking for recipes and cookbooks. Is your cookbook still available? I'm technically challenged and can't locate it!

Thanks
ZA

I have it on Rapid Share.

Low Carb Cookbook for Men V2

I don't think This is a site that sells anything except storage, It's a storage site for sharing documents. I don't think there is anything commercial about the cookbook either. So let's see.

Thank you, Metqu, but if I don't have to figure out how to use Rapid Share and log into yet another site, which would make me happy, does anyone have it on a word document that can send it to me via private message?

If not then I will download and do the requisite hoops. Metqu, it says volume 2, was there ever a volume 1?

Thanks for sharing!

Tilly, I tried to pm you the link, but it didn't work.

I'll post it here...it should be okay since it's a PDF file.

That's great Nigel. Rapid share should just click the download button but yours is direct so it's better.

I don't know if there was a version one. maybe that's what the Hissy fit take down used to be.

Hey all,

Just checking back into this site after being away for a (long) while. Glad you found a copy you like. I thought this thread was long buried

I've been toying with an updated version, but never got around to doing anything with it. Always looking for new ideas.

Cheers,
Paul

I recommended to a young man I know, who lacks for creative ideas in the low carb realm.

It is fun and easy to read and so much common sense!
