Hood's Carb Countdown news

Since discovering lowcarbfriends a couple of weeks ago and reading different posts ref: recipes, I have noticed that people have difficulty finding Hood's Carb Countdown. Good news (if you live in Iowa or surrounding states serviced by Hy Vee grocery stores). I found both chocolate and 2% in the dairy case at my local Hy Vee.

I am a brand new member so I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place or that it is old news that people already know about. It's just that I was so excited about stumbling upon it yesterday evening while shopping that I had to tell someone.

The Wal-Mart I usually shop at doesn't carry it anymore, of course it's a very small store, but I'm not driving twice as far for milk! LOL

And Welcome!

The two Wal-Marts in my area have both just started carrying it again! It's probably been two years since they last had it on the shelves. I'm so glad to see it again!

We must have some clout-- our local WalMart started carrying it again after 2 or 3 years of not having it.

They have changed the name to Calorie Countdown Milk and it's the same product so be on the lookout for that name if you want Carb Countdown Milk!

That's interesting..... What I saw last night was "Hood's Carb Countdown" in my local Hy Vee. Wonder if Hood's is using different packaging in different parts of the country?

Was looking for ingredients to make ice cream today and low and behold there was the Carb Countdown regular and chocolate in the specialty milk section at my Wal Mart. (The section with almond and soy milks.) Now since I have gone without milk for so long, I am not going to buy it. Maybe once I reach goal.

It just may be a regional thing. For some reason I think Jersey is on another planet with some of the products that are out there. Go to Pennsylvania or New York and I can get a lot of the things talked about on this site, but Jersey?

Here it started as Carb Countdown and was changed to Calorie Countdown a few years back!!

You got me!

PS.... now this is strange! When I google carb countdown milk I was taken to calorie countdown by Hood. And then when I was on the Hood site and searched for carb countdown I was told "no match". Now I'm REALLY !! How are you guys getting this milk if the site doesn't even have it?

Beeb - If you go to the Hood website, the milk is listed under their products tab. It's called Calorie Countdown and there are three varieties, Fat Free, 2% and 2% Chocolate.

Yes, I understand this, as I stated in the post above yours. The product the other posters are talking about is Carb Countdown Milk and the Hood website does NOT list that and I'm wondering how they are getting this product if it's not even on the Hood website.

My Walmart carries the Calorie Countdown and it has for a while now. I'm surprised that people are finding it with the name Carb Coundown as I thought they changed the name. Hope it's not old stock... lol ewwww

Kroger stores in Central Ohio carry 2% Calorie Countdown milk. I haven't seen the other varieties in several years.

I will have to double check the name. I apologize if I posted it incorrectly. I did not purchase it but will check next time I am there.

Julie, Basha's carries it, at least "out west" anyway. The stores I have been in have both the 2% and chocolate.

Hood milk

Beeb, if you live in Central NJ, then perhaps you can get it from Wegmans (Princeton). If you go to the Hood website, they have a 'store locator' link. All you do is enter your zip code and you will get a list of retailers in your area.

Yup, checked again today, and it is in WalMart, the Hood Carb Countdown, chocolate and regular.

Thanks for the Wegman's idea, a bit too far for me, though. I looked on the site and no "store locator" anywhere to be found. Can you point it out to me?

Thanks!

I went to the Hoods website, and on their calorie countdown beverage page, they had a little survey. I put in my vote, and these are the results they showed:

What do you love most about Hood Calorie Countdown?
8% FEWER CALORIES THAN MILK
67% FEWER CARBS THAN MILK
24% LESS SUGAR THAN MILK

So maybe, with these results, they will bring back the carb countdown. Does anyone know the carb count for the carb countdown milk? Was it less than the carb count for the calorie countdown?

I think the carb count is the same on both packages, if I remember correctly.

Some stuff is returning to Wal-mart due to the consumer backlash that happened when they started reducing the selection of items on the shelf to try and save money on labor.
They assumed that people would continue to shop at wallyworld with a reduced selection of items/brands and guess what, they was wrong, which is good for us since things like hoods milk are starting to trickle back onto shelves.
