Blue Cheese dressing recipe?

Does anyone have a good recipe for blue cheese dressing? I had some at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Santa Barbara that was to die for. Very creamy, simple, I'm thinking sour cream,mayo, blue cheese,? Any help wold be appreciated.

Yep, as you say, those ingredients then I also add:

1 clove garlic
Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper
Heavy Cream to thin it down
Dash or two of Worcestershire (start with one)
Squeeze of fresh lemon juice (just a few drops).

Simply blue cheese, sour cream and mayo in equal proportions, and add some garlic & sea salt.
Mmm. My fav dressing!

Thank you all, seems simple enough.Do you let it sit for a while to "set" or just use it when it's made?

I use it right away... I also kind of "smush" (executive word) some blue cheese in it so that I get some good blue cheese in every bite.

depending on your taste, add vinegar to those things and thin with water... I like a dressing tart, myself. and thin enough to toss with the salad rather than glopping on top, which leads to me overdoing it.

as far as blue cheese goes, I usually just crumble it on the salad rather than trying to put it in the dressing. it's great with a fruity dressing like pear or apple, something crunchy like celery, maybe some walnuts too!

2 of my favorites!!

Blue Cheese Dressing

1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons buttermilk*
2 tablespoons crumbled bleu cheese
1/8 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1. Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.
2. Cover and chill for 30 minutes before serving.

Makes 1 cup.

*or use 1 tablespoon dry buttermilk, and 1 tablespoon half & half

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce
Emeril Lagasse
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 1/4 cup heavy cream
* 8 ounces blue cheese
* 1 teaspoon hot red pepper sauce
* 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
Place all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and process on high speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Pour into a decorative bowl.
Hi Linny…
I like the way you ''think''.
Our recipe is very similar - only we quadruple the crumbled blue cheese part.
Larry, I think I add more to mine as well........I always use a good danish blue cheese too and generally the dry buttermilk as I never have the real stuff on hand. I actually got this recipe from a recipe site so can't give credit to anyone in particular but glad I found it
Yes, I do it routinely. It works well for me. I tried freezing some crumbled blue cheese once, and seemed to get dried out very quickly, even though it was double wrapped. But the solid triangles seem to last just fine in the freezer for a couple of months. By that time, I've used it up, so I don't know if it would last longer or not.
Blue Cheese Dressing - lowcarbgrub.com
It's probably pretty similar to the other ones.
Well, I finally made the dressing. What was I waiting for? This stuff is so delicious!
I have made far more complicated recipes with much less reward. This will be a staple. Thanks, all.
I really like BC dressing as well. I used to make it myself and then like a lot of things, I just sort of forgot about it. I bought a bottle in the store last week and YUCK, it isn't
anything like homemade! Thanks for reminding me how easy it is to make my own and how much better it tastes!
So many things are like that. Low carb BBQ sauce takes 5 minutes to make, has you licking your fingers. Cheaper, too. I may start cooking my own beans again , by gosh! Now how about recipes for homemade ranch dressing?
Suzanns Somers had a recipe in one of her cookbooks that I love!! It's just blue cheese mixed into sour cream with a dash of salt, pepper, and red wine vinegar. It's such a simple recipe but so delicious.
