cookbook junky seeks opinions

I'm looking at buying the following three books and wondered if anyone has these and if they can comment on them:

1001 Low-Carb Recipes: Hundreds of Delicious Recipes from Dinner to Dessert That Let You Live Your Low-Carb Lifestyle and Never Look Back
- Dana Carpender

The Low-Carb Comfort Food Cookbook
- Mary Dan Eades M.D.

Cooking with Coconut Flour: A Delicious Low-Carb, Gluten-Free Alternative to Wheat
- Bruce Fife

I have the first two and they both have plenty of good recipes and not too many weird ingredients. Anything by Dana Carpender is not only good, but full of her funny comments.

Someone else you might consider is our very own Jennifer Eloff. She has half a dozen or so nice cookbooks and she uses VERY few weird ingredients. Plus she contributes unselfishly of her advice and recipes here on this very board! Her bake mixes alone are worth the price of the books.

You can google Jennifer Eloff Blog and you'll find a link for her cookbooks there!

Thanks. I do love the idea of recipes that use regular ingredients. I tried a recipe from the Comfort book and it did require a lot of rather expensive ingredients, but I did enjoy the recipe. I also tried two of the coconut flour recipes from the third book and they were great (and I have a lifetime supply of coconut flour..LOL).

I will definitely look at the other ones.

I have 2 by Dana Carpender and hardly use them, I like the LC comfort one, and don't care for the texture of coconut flour. I do like George Stellas cookbooks.

Cooking with Coconut Flour: A Delicious Low-Carb, Gluten-Free Alternative to Wheat - Bruce Fife

That one was a waste of my money. None of the recipes are very good and some of them have the wrong amounts on the ingredients. It's better to google coconut flour recipes and check out some on here.

I like Dana Carpender's cookbooks and have a couple of them.

I second the Jennifer Eloff cookbooks...they're great.

Yes, yes. All of the above. Dana has the cooking style most compatible with my family's eating style. However, you may prefer Jennifer's.

I have the Coconut Flour cookbook and it's not low carb in many, if not most cases. Bah.

If you are interested in Coconut Flour, don't waste your money on a cookbook; use Lauren's Healthy Indulgences website as your source. She's got it down in a way that others will NEVER equal.

Dana's involve real food, and don't require proprietary junk that won't be on the market. (At least the things that I have tried)

Thanks, guys! Truth be known, I'm a better baker than I am a cook. However, my regular recipes are simple to follow and usually quick using simple, everyday ingredients that most of us have in the pantry. I don't do "complicated." My sweet friend, Char, is a better cook than I am. She won't admit it, but it is true in my opinion.

Jen, you're far too modest, my dear - you are so very talented in the kitchen and it shows in your recipes and the gorgeous pictures you take of them!

Threadjack....
Jennifer, how many cookbooks did you write? 5? 6?
If I want to buy the 5 pack... Where is it better for you that I order? Your site or Amazon? And, what book is not included in the 5 pack?
Thanks

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Wendy. I have 5 low-carb and 2 diabetic-style (not low-carb).

Dwightshrute, I'm not allowed to get into all of that here on LCF's in these rooms. Thanks very much for your interest though.
