Jell-o Recipe Without Maltodextrin

I like the sugar free jell-o desserts, but would like to avoid the maltodextrin that they use for filler. I thought I'd make some using Knox unflavored gelatin (contains nothing but gelatin) and add my own flavoring/sweetener: perhaps kook-aid or a Davinci sugar-free syrup.

Anyone tried this?

1 envelope Knox gelatine
1 pkt unsweetened Koolaid, any flavor you like
1 1/2 tsp. liquid Splenda concentrate (equivalent to 1 cup sugar, if you choose another sweetener)
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water

Pour boiling water over gelatine, Koolaid - stir well - add sweetener. Stir til gelatine is dissolved. Add cold water and chill til set.

***This is not my recipe and I don't know who to credit for it, but it works good.

Be sure to read the labels on the Kool-Aid. Some flavors do have maltodextrin in them and some also have cornstarch.

Last night I used Knox gelatin, 12 oz boiling water and a Diet Rite orange soda (sweetened with Splenda). It gelled fine, but wasn't quite sweet enough. I overly sweetened some whipping cream whipped it, and mixed it in and it was quite good.

Next time I'll use straight orange soda (no water).
