hazelnut flour?

ok, so i use almond flour for EVERYTHING...along with golden flax meal too...

i have some hazelnut flour at home and last night made my almond flour bread with the hazelnut flour and flax seeds instead - really good!

question - do any of you use hazelnut flour or have any recipes for it? can i assume it can be subbed where almond flour is used?

it's got a slightly different consistency than the almond flour does (btw, both are bob's red mill)
thanks!

I use it along with almond flour for a mock cornbread or mock cornbread muffins. I sub some of the almond flour in any recipe. Cookies are especially good mixing the flours.

I use the various nuts depending on their qualities. The cheesecakes are 3-nut combinations, and some recipes I lean towards macadamias or chashews.

Oh yes, I forgot about cheesecake crust! That's right it does give a depth of flavor to crusts as well.

I love hazelnut flour. The only way I've used it though is for Chocolate flax muffins. Half Flax and Half Hazelnut. Chocolate and Hazelnut go so beautifully together.

Ever had a Ferrero Rocher Chocolates?

It reminded me of that, without the creamy chocolate center though. When I get further along. I might add a low carb chocolate bar in the middle for that effect.

BTW, anyone know of a good site to get Hazelnut flour other than Bob's Red Mills?

Netrition has it. I have also made it from bulk hazelnuts in the food processor.

I know Netrition sells it but I'm looking for a source that sells it in bulk.

I love hazelnut flour in anything that is cinnamon or uses those types of spices. Not exactly sure why but those flavors go together very well to me.

If you're in Texas, Central Market sells it in bulk. Perhaps try Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. They're all the same type of store.

I just bought some at Whole Foods yesterday because it was considerably cheaper than almond flour. I'm thinking of replacing some or all of the almond flour in http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...-cake-pic.html

Bob's red mill makes it--'spensive stuff--but fewer carbs than his almond flour

OMG went to Central Market for the first time while on a trip to Dallas. Good thing I don't live by one. I'd easily double my current weight and that would only be the beginning!

I will check if they have it in bulk next time I go to Whole Foods. I bought the Bob's Red Mills last time I was there. I recently bought Almond flour in bulk online. Much cheaper so I am hoping to find a good deal on bulk hazelnut as well.

I buy my nut flours, plus extra yummy cashews, macadamias and Marcona almonds through Nuts Online. NOBODY ships as fast as they do...and the quality is awesome :-) I also bought low carb baking mix from them.
