I haven't purchased one but checked it our of the library. I really like the recipes, Some are a bit high carb for atkins but good for a family who wants to lower carbs. He uses alot of soy flour which I am sensitive to. I subbed soya powder/flour which is cooked ground soybeans instead of raw and the recipes turned out great. Chocolate chip muffins are so good and my whole family loved them at just 6 carbs.

Ladies...

George started me out LCing over 3 1/2 years ago. I sub out Almond Flour for Soy in his first books.

He is a great friend and a wonderful cook with Loads of recipes for the LC lifestyle. I could NOT have done it without him.

I want to get the last 2 but it will be after Income tax time.

The books are WELL worth the price!!

There are some ideas, but I find his recipes way too high carb.

I have two of his books, George Stella's Livin' Low Carb: Family Recipes Stella Style and Eating Stella Style: Low-Carb Recipes for Healthy Living

I would recommend the first one, Livin' Low Carb: Family Recipes Stella Style. Many of the recipes are really good, a fresh approach to low carb. (If you are the kind of cook who would usually reach for fresh lemon zest instead of lemon jello, you may appreciate this book.)

The recipes in that book are a little higher in carbs than I usually eat, but good for when I want something delicious and different. One chocolate recipe I tried was sweetened with Splenda and just plain nasty, but it's okay when I sub mixed sweeteners. (I also skip the soy flour.)

I cannot recommend Eating Stella Style at all. He tries to make the recipes "healthier" by reducing the fats and in most cases, that increases the carbs. One recipe actually suggests subing sugar for artificial sweetener, to make the recipe "healthier"! That tells you everything you need to know about that particular book. This book might be good if you are doing low fat and moderate carbs, like Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet. But most of the recipes are really not suitable for Atkins. He seems to have lost the low-carb focus. His new credo is "trying to lessen excess fats in your diet whenever possible is just plain healthy!" If that works for you, then you'll like this book.

You can also check the books out of the library to test drive them.

I saw George was selling a new cookbook. Do you know by any chance if these are new recipes or repeats? I have his other books so don't want to invest if duplicate recipes.

TIA
