From Michael Eades, The Chocolate Caramel Protein Shake:

6 oz water
1.5-2 scoops chocolate protein powder (low-carb)
1 ounce coconut milk
cup of ice cubes
1/2 ounce Ambiance (Torani is ok, too. Or DaVinci) sugar-free caramel flavored syrup
blend in blender.

I've had for breakfast every day for the last 4 weeks:

1/3 cup pumpkin
1/4 heavy cream
2 TBLS vanilla davinci's

All this mixed in a freezer bag and frozen for the AM

Throw the frozen chunks in a blender with:
1 egg
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
2 shakes pumpkin pie spice
1 packet stevia
2/3 cup water

Blend & drink

4 ounces kefir or yogurt, 4 ounces water, 1 oz. heavy cream, 1 scoop Nectar Fuzzy Navel whey protein powder, blend til smooth.

My FAVE - 8 oz. unsweetened choc almond breeze, 2 scoops Champion Nutrition Banana Scream whey protein powder, 1 oz. heavy cream, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon peanut butter, sweetener to taste, 6 ice cubes, blend til smooth. I also like to add 1 tsp. Thicken Thin Not-Starch to give it a "milkshake mouthfeel" and it also helps keep the ice in suspension, but it's not essential.

DH likes 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond breeze, 2 scoops Designer Whey strawberry protein powder, 1 oz. cream, 1 oz. DaVinci SF strawberry syrup, and 6 ice cubes, and a tsp. of TTN-S, all blended. It is very much like a "real" strawberry milkshake.

Does anyone know if Xanthum Gum can be used in this way? I've only used it in warm things.
Thanks

Both xanthan gum and guar gum can be used in either hot or cold things.

Blushing Bride Protein Shake

1/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup cold water
2-3 tablespoons sugar free DaVinci raspberry syrup (to taste)
2 scoops of strawberry egg or whey protein powder
1-2 teaspoons psyllium husks (optional - adding fiber but no carbs)
2-3 frozen strawberries
12-15 ice cubes

Whirl the whole thing up in the blender, scraping down the sides as necessary. (Pulse works best for crunching up the ice cubes.) The end result will have a consistency like a Wendy's Frosty. Omit the ice cubes, and you can just drink it.

From: Di Bauer, Celebrate Low Carb

==========

Strawberry Fields Protein Shakes
Makes 2 small or 1 large protein shake.

1/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup cold water
2 scoops strawberry protein powder
1/2 to 1 tablespoon sugar free DaVinci strawberry syrup (to taste)
1-2 teaspoons psyllium husks (optional - adding fiber but not carbs here)
3-4 frozen strawberries (optional, but sooooo good)
12-15 ice cubes

Whirl the everything up in the blender. (Pulse works best for crunching up the ice cubes.) The end result will have a consistency like a Wendy's Frosty. Omit the ice cubes, and you can just drink it.

Variation: Substitute sugar free DaVinci raspberry syrup for the strawberry and a few frozen raspberries for the frozen strawberries. Yum!

From Di Bauer

==========

Breakfast Shake
Makes 1 serving

1/4 cup cream
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup pasteurized egg substitute
1/4 cup cottage cheese or ricotta
1 tablespoon protein powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons sugar-free syrup (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, or try any flavor that strikes your fancy)
1 teaspoon sugar substitute
1 cup crushed ice

Blend all ingredients on high speed until no visible pieces of ice or cottage cheese remain.

My new fave - mocha. 7 oz. unsweetened Chocolate Almond Breeze, 1 oz. heavy cream, 1 tablespoon instant coffee crystals, 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon Thicken Thin Not/Sugar or Not/Starch (or whatever thickener you like), sweetener to taste, pinch of salt, dribble of vanilla extract, 1 scoop Designer Whey chocolate protein powder. Put in blender in order listed, more or less, but get the liquids in first. Turn on blender on low speed and let all ingredients get well combined. Turn off blender and add about 10 ice cubes; blend on high speed til ice is all chopped and there are no ice lumps left.

This has the consistency of a thick chocolate milkshake. It makes enough for 2 people to share but I usually drink it all myself!

Charski, You and I must have the same cravings LOL. I made a similar shake all last week and lost 6lbs drinking them! I had one for lunch every day. I love them. Sometimes I add a tbs of peanut butter instead of the coffee.

Thanks for starting this one. I'm getting tired of the standard shake I have been using.

These certainly look wonderful. Going to try the M. Eades "Chocolate Caramel Protein Shake" for breakfast tomorrow.

No, Im not sure how many carbs. I dont typically count carbs, I just stick to LC whole, unprocessed foods. I will say though that I just went out and bought some more ingredients so I can have them again this week. I was just swamped last week and barely had time to eat so I made a quick shake everyday and I felt great drinking them.....lost weight too! I think I might try the vanilla almond breeze with some frozen rasberries for a change.

Charski-----

TYTYTY for this recipe. I made it this morning with a sample pack of the Jay Robb Choc protein.....This is quite frankly the best homemade protein shake that I have ever made. WONDERFUL.

I mixed it in my Vitamix....(which I love too)

The additional of the Thick n Thin I think made this like a real shake....everything stayed thick and creamy...

THIS IS A KEEPER!

Thanks,
Dee

Char - I had your mocha shake for breakfast yesterday and man, is that good! I agree with Jill and Dee, it is the most like a milkshake that I've had -- thank you so much for the recipe. I'm going to attempt to mix up a jar full of the dry ingredients to have on hand so I can just scoop it out, add milk and cream and be good to go. One of the problems I have with making shakes is that I hate to get all the ingredients out to make just one shake at a time.

That Girl, the carbs should be pretty low - 1 cup of the Almond Breeze has 3 carbs and 1 fiber, so 2 net; heavy cream has about 6 carbs per cup, so an ounce would have .75 carb; cocoa powder's fiber pretty much equals its carbs, so I don't count it, same with the Thicken Thin Not/Starch and the instant coffee; and then you'd have to check how many carbs in the scoop of protein powder you use. Designer Whey has 2. So, for MY shake, I'd count 5, I guess, if I counted, which I don't.

I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it! It's really good. Adding in the TTN/S helps keep the ice suspended and gives it that "milkshake mouthfeel" - I add it to ALL my blended protein shakes for that reason.

Tweak, let us know how it goes with the dry ingredients premix - I'd be interested in trying that out too!

OK, that does it, I'm having one for breakfast!

Day #2 of that Mocha protein shake for breakfast....and it is FILLING! Quite honestly....I think that is the very first protein meal replacement shake that I have ever had that carried me through to the next meal. Where I felt like I had eaten a meal...no hunger. I'm not sure if it has to do with these specific ingredients...or if the Jay Robb powder helped with the "full" feeling. Either way....Jay Robb powder is a keeper and this recipe is definitely a KEEPER.

I made up a batch of the dry ingredients to the equivalency of 8 servings and have it stored in a canister. I tried just a very small shake at lunch to check it and I think it's good to go; when I try another full shake I'll post the results of whether or not it remains thick like Char's original recipe. Love the flavor!
MOCHA PROTEIN SHAKE

Single Protein Shake:
7 oz. unsweetened Almond Breeze/chocolate or vanilla
1 oz. heavy cream
1 Tbsp. instant coffee crystals
1 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 teas. Thicken Thin not/Starch (or not/Sugar)
Sweetener to taste
Pinch of salt
Dribble if vanilla extract
1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder

Put in blender in order listed, more or less, but get the liquids in first. Turn blender on low to blend till well combined. Turn off blender and add 8-10 ice cubes; blend on high till all ice is chopped. Drink for breakfast or a snack - Yummo!

FOR 8 SERVINGS:
8 scoops chocolate potein powder
1/8+ teas. salt
1 Splenda Q-P (or sweetener of choice)
2 3/4 Tbsp. Thicken Thin Not/Starch (or not/Sugar)
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup instant coffee crystals

When ready to use,
In blender put:
7 oz. unsweetened chocolate almond breeze
1 oz. heavy cream
dribble of vanilla extract
1/2 cup or so of above protein mix

Blend till well combined, add ice and blend till all ice is chopped.
Drink it down and Enjoy!

Oh, and let me add, when mixing for 8 servings be sure to whisk the ingredients together thoroughly to be sure they are totally blended.

TG - this is a great idea. I just want to clarify, did you use an entire splenda QP for 8 servings?

Thanks much!
