Yummy, I just made the strawberry cheesecake shake, which is the first shake listed (without egg). It's delicious! I wasn't sure about the sour cream in it, but it tastes fantastic. 10 oz of water was a little too much for my magic bullet with the other ingredients so I cut the water back a bit. Thank you!!

Yes, I did, but you can use any sweetener in any amount that you like. Some may like theirs a bit sweeter or less sweet than others.

TO ANYONE...

Where can I purchase Thicken Thin Not/Sugar or Not/Starch?

Or, where in the store/grocery store can this be found?

Is this a drug store item?

Thanks much,

Nikki

I bought mine from Netrition. Other than that...I don't know.

You can get it from Netrition, amongst other online sources, as well as directly from the company, Expert Foods.

WAY back when the "LC Craze" hit and there were actual stores catering to LC, I could find it - but I've never seen it locally since then.

It seems expensive, but a little goes a long way and to me it's well worth it.

If you can't find it, you can try xanthan and/or guar gums, which are generally available more readily - Bob's Red Mill packages both, and I've seen them also at Whole Foods. I haven't had as good success with those separately as with the TTN/S but perhaps if you mixed them together they might work as well?

I have been cutting calories and have really been worried about nutrition. I decided to start using the Myoplex low carb shakes so I could be certain of the nutrition I was getting.

I know I could just as easily take a vitamin but I really enjoy my morning shake...it fills me up and helps me cut my carbs.

I use:
18 ounces of water
1 level tablespoon instant coffee
2 ounces of cream
1/4 teaspoon Splenda Quick Pack
1 packet Myoplex low carb vanilla
enough ice to bring the liquid level up to 32 ounces

Blend well....it's really yummy and tastes like a frappahino.

Maybe not essential, but that's a fabulous tip! It really gives it that something extra that makes it taste very similar to a Wendy's Frosty. (Not that I can remember what those taste like LOL).

I ordered extra NotStarch on my last netrition order.

Orange Delight Shake

4oz ice cold water
1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder of your choice
1 packet crystal light sunrise orange - individual serving packet
1 large egg (optional for additional protein)

Add liquids, then egg if using, then powders. Cover and shake the dickens out of it.
This makes a big shake. Use 2 scoops and increase the liquids each by 2oz for 2 shakes.

Great thread, but does using the almond milk make them non-Induction friendly?

correct, Almond milk is not induction friendly. When I was on induction I used a shake made by sugarfreesheila
3 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup egg beaters'
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup hwc
davincis sf syrup
ice
Pretty good! but they'll get better after induction. More options

Put in blender in order listed, more or less, but get the liquids in first. Turn on blender on low speed and let all ingredients get well combined. Turn off blender and add about 10 ice cubes; blend on high speed til ice is all chopped and there are no ice lumps left.

This has the consistency of a thick chocolate milkshake. It makes enough for 2 people to share but I usually drink it all myself!
This is great! I made this with half and half instead of the heavy cream and added an egg. You're right, it is super thick, I might do half teaspoon on the thickener next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Has anyone ever notice protein powder causing stalls? I swear I stall every 2 weeks! My last stall lasted for 7 weeks, then I dropped a couple pounds, now another 2 weeks of no loss. I started making shakes a lot, and I use Isopure zero carb protein, just one scoop. If this is a known staller I need to nix it for a while.

I need to bust out the blender and get creative. I'm been a TrueProtein lover for a while now. I usually drink them on weightlifting days. I'm boring. I put them in a cup with plain cold water, shake 'em up, and drink 'em. Their flavors are great on their own, but I can imagine how amazing they COULD be. I currently have strawberries & cream, chocolate peanut butter cup, and french vanilla creme, 100% milk protein, sweetened with sucralose. Mmmm... I look forward to dressing them up.

No, I can tolerate anything pretty well. I go through phases where I drink egg cream shakes for a couple days as meal replacements.

Protein powders can have quite a few calories. I am one of those who gain because I can eat a meal and drink a shake instead of using it for a meal replacement.
