Mixed Nuts at Sam's

So, I found mixed raw unsalted nuts at Sam's Club today. 2 pounds of almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, macadamias for $2.00. I bought 3 bags. Then, AFTER I got home, it occurred to me that I could use them for nut meal (I normally use raw almonds and make my own almond meal). I will try it and let you all know, but I bet it's delicious. I may have to go back for more. Many more.

Oh, and Kevin, it was the Washington Sam's. :-)

Hi there,
I've ground up mixed nuts for a great nut flour. The kind I used had peanuts in it and were salted, but what I made turned out better than just with almond flour and I omitted the salt in the recipe.

That's a great price on those nuts by the way.

Thanks! Yep, the price sure was right. I used some for one minute muffins (I typically use 2T almond flour and 2T flax) and they were very tender and delicious. I need to get more, for sure!

Just an FYI everyone, I went to our Sam's, in Orlando, FL. and the same bags were $8.88 each. Maybe the ones at your Sam's were close to becoming out dated? Maybe my Sam's just hasn't reduced ours yet. Even if they were close to being out dated, I'd still buy all they had and either roast them or grind them. We LOVE nuts here and eat them all the time! I'm going to stop back in, in a few days, and see if they have reduced them yet. They probably only had about 20 bags today when I looked, so they will go really fast if the price comes down.

You found a GREAT buy CooperAnnette!! I'm jealous! I hope when you went back they still had some left. Stick them in the freezer until your ready to use them. They will last a long time that way!

Well, I went back to Sam's yesterday, and of course they are out of these nuts. Figures.

Anyhoo, I pan roasted some with a touch of butter and some celtic sea salt...they are SO wonderful! I served them warm, and they just disappeared. YUM! A really nice fall evening snack.

Right now I have a double batch of chocolate chip cookie bars in the oven, made with mixed nut meal and Hershey's SF choco chips. They should be done in about 10 minutes...I'll let you know how they turn out (I'm sure they'll be delish).

I've been to my local Sam's 3 times since this original post, and they aren't on sale there. Their regular price is $8.88 at my Sam's. Today they only had 1 bag of them left, so I'm thinking they must not be stocking them anymore. Or each Sam's is different in what they discount. I do know that we have 3 Sam's locally and each one has different prices on some of the exact same items.

I sooooooooooo wanted some of these. I would roast them, grind them up, or just eat them as is. I LOVE nuts of all kinds!!!

Thanks for posting your find anyway. One day we all might be able to find of these great deals too!

I saw them at my Sam's a few days ago too. First time I've ever seen them there. And they were with the other nuts that I check out, and sometimes buy, so know they haven't been carrying them. WOW $2.00 was a great buy. Like tryinghardtolose said, they were about $8.88 a bag (can't remember the change for sure but it was over $8.00). I wouldn't buy them anyway because of the walnuts. Can't eat walnuts!
Sure wish they would have them sans the walnuts. But then they would probabably be higher.

Maybe I should start a nut mail order company, LOL. Just kidding, of course. I have to go back to Sam's at some point this week, so I'll check again...but I think they're history.

The cookie bars were GREAT when they cooled. AND, no problems from the maltitol in the SF chips. Of course, I did exercise restraint....sort of.

Nigella has a roasted nut recipe that I think I'll try to track down today...she used fresh rosemary and something else, if I remember correctly. I want to make some, or a lot :-).

Thank you so much for the recipe. I'm going to try them this weekend.
