How do I "shred" a zucchini?

Hey all,

Paul here, your (newbie) resident culinary moron.

I saw the recipe for the zucchini crust pizza and am willing to give it a try. However, there's a "big word" in there I don't quite understand: "shred".

I get the idea that I'm supposed to make lots of little zucchinis out of the big one. Can someone explain how to do this?

Are there power tools involved? How big is a "shred"? Is it smaller than a glarb?

Food is expensive and I want to get it right the first time (or at least edible). Thanks for any assistance.

-Paul

shred is about the same size as shredded cheddar cheese (not the fine shredded or fancy shredded cheese, but the regular shredded cheese)

To shred, you grab an electric guitar, and turn the distortion way up.

Or, you can grab a zucchini and pull it across a cheese grater until little bits are all that is left (of the zucchini--not your fingers).

Dude, you need a shredder/grater (usually metal and has different size holes on it) or a food processor (power toy - uh, I mean TOOL - much more fun!)

Go to Amazon or someplace and look for "grater" and you'll see. You can buy a simple shredder/grater right at the grocery store!

I was not aware of this meaning. It sounds like fun. All those years of being forced to play (a.k.a. "practice") the clarinet were for nada. But I'll save that for my therapist...

Ah, yes! I know what that is.

Thanks for the help, everyone.

You can't shred with a clarinet, unless you're playing Clarinet Hero on the Wii and ripped some righteous Rage Against the Machine riffs.

But clarinets sound cool otherwise.

I use a grater, the kind you use for cheese.

Just don't try and put it through the paper shredder.
