what does avocado taste like?

ive had guacamole... but what does normal avocado taste like... and what do you do with it?

I get them and slice them in salads, also i sometimes slice them and put them on aplate with some salt and splash of lemon juice. They are very good

To me, a good avocado is creamy and buttery. It doesn't have a strong taste. I love them plain, sprinkled with salt.

Avocados can be used in omelets, on sandwiches, hamburgers, chopped in salads, made into dips and dressings.

I eat avocado in a bean salad I make, but I don't think it has a really distinctive taste. Kind of takes on the flavor of whatever you eat it with.

I make a black bean salad that is spooned on top of avocado slices. I had avocado soup once. It's served cold. Had nothing more than avocados, milk (or cream could be used instead) and spices thrown in a blender then blended till smooth. Was really good

They are creamy and delicious when they are perfectly ripened. They have a light refreshing taste. When I eat them in something other than guacamole I put them on a bacon cheeseburger on an oopsie.

My favorite thing to do with an avocado is to slice it up into some yummy heated chicken broth, then add a couple of tablespoons of shredded parmesan cheese. Delicious and filling snack. Sometime I have this for dinner.

An avocado half filled with vinegarette is also delish.

earthy, buttery, creamy

I make a fabulous sweet for my children, with avacado- you could make it l/c friendly too

one ripe avacado,
mix in super high quality dark coco powder (unsweetend)
mash well, then sweeten with splenda (with my children I use maple syrup)
chill very well (I freeze it call it "ice cream" for the kids)

delish and super nurtitious.

You know the best way to have it? Blend with evaporated milk and sugar and crushed ice. Then again, avocado shake isn't LC.

I love, love, love avocados. I mix them with diced tomato & sour cream. Dip a celery stick in, and you have a delicious snack!

They taste green luxury - my favorite way - and this is definitely not low fat, to sprinkle a little bit of salt, a bit of hot sauce (I use tabasco) and olive oil.... I can eat a whole one that way, easy.

California avocados are good sliced up with salmon sashimi, as well as in Caesar salads with lots of extra-virgin olive oil, I ask for double avocado (and double cheddar) when I get the 1/3 Avocado Cheeseburger at a restaurant here called Gazeebo Burger, and sometimes I'll even use them to bulk up shakes in the same way lite silken tofu does. I think avocados are wonderful!

Dont get greens ones. You want a darker one. Soft to the touch, but not too soft.

I think the thing about avacados that I like is their texture. Kind of like cream that has been whipped right to the point of turning to butter. And avacados are like butter... True, not much taste to them, but they add such super richness to whatever they are combined with... Saddest part? I used to tolerate them really well, but now they give me a headache and make me really sick! Have one for me, will you?

gosh I love avocados. Sometimes for a quick snack I cut an avocado in half(long wise) remove the seed and pour Ranch into it. I grab me a spoon and chow down,so good!

My favorite way is sliced with salt and a little balsamic vinegar on them. Go easy, the vinegar isn't too carb friendly, but delicious! They are also very high in potassium so if you are feeling the induction blahs they can help perk you up!

Creamy like butter with a slight nutty flavor. They have to be my favorite low carb food. My favorite way is to take a slice of ham, melt some havarti cheese on top, and wrap it around a slice of avocado. Sooooooo GOOD!

My husband and I both had our first avocado this summer. It took him a little longer to try it because he's a big ol chicken. But he loves them now, too. They have a mild nutty flavor. I always add a squeeze of lime juice because they turn brown very fast.

How To Choose Avocados | eHow.com

Step 1:
Choose avocados with unblemished skin.

Step 2:
Pick up an avocado and make sure it feels heavy.

Step 3:
Press on the avocado, making sure it is soft enough to yield under your finger but not soft enough to leave a mark.

Step 4:
Make sure a Florida avocado is green with a yellow tone. A Hass avocado from California should be purplish black.
