Can a chocolate ice cream be made in the VitaMix?

Yes, you can make chocolate ice cream - just google "vitamix chocolate ice cream" and you'll get some good results. Of course you need to adjust milk and sugar to ingredients we LCers use (half & half and Stevia Plus or whatever you like) - there is one recipe there for chocolate peanut butter ice cream that I'm dying to try!

Tilly, if you do a google search for the Chocolate Covered Katie blog, she has several recipes for ice cream made in the Vitamix, including chocolate & chocolate peanut butter.

Okay, that might have just tipped the scales in favor of buying one!

(pun intended!)

Does anyone here have the dry grinding container? I'm wondering if I can use mine to dry-grind nut flours. I'm afraid to try it without someone telling me they've done it first. Nuts are expensive!

I don't have the dry container and the regular container works just fine. Watch it closely. If you go too far the worst that will happen is you'll have nut butter - which is also very delicious!

okay, I've gone back several pages and found a few recipes, but do we have a collection of them somewhere? I guess I mean a thread. I'm waiting for my new one to be delivered and trying to find some new recipes to try with it!

I think this IS the recipe repository!

The book that comes with it has a ton of good recipes, and if you go to their website, you can search the recipes there (or at least you ustacould) by category and they even had a low carb category. Some of their ideas of LC were a bit laughable though!

They sent me an email about their new and improved website, and recipes searchable by diet and difficulty, etc. unfortunately they didn't include low carb.

Mocha! In honor of cooler weather I've upgraded my morning smoothie to a hot chocolate/mocha drink by putting the ingredients ( 2 cups any kind of LC milk, a teaspoon or two of gelatin--completely optional, a scoop of chocolate whey protein powder, a tbsp of instant coffee--or reduce the milk and use full-strength brewed coffee) in the VM, starting on low to blend the ingredients, then switching to high and running for 5 minutes or until "just hot enough." Add-ins could include heavy cream, MCT oil, extracts...

I make one! I take 3 oz of spinach, 4 oz of cottage cheese (you could use Greek yogurt), about 8 strawberries (you could use less), 2 packets of sweetener and about a cup or so of water. I use the water because I use frozen strawberries. If you use fresh, then add ice and water. I whirl away!!! I don't like veggies and this is a great way for me to get in some greens.

I hope you like it as much as I do!! I like things sweet, so I add in 3 packets of my sweetener instead of the original 2. Perhaps you won't need the additional one, but if you like sweet you can add more too.

Dawnyama, that was the best smoothie ever! I added some kale and some lemon juice to your recipe, and used plain full fat yogurt (not enough cottage cheese in the fridge) and it so delicious! My husband loved it too and asked me to make it every morning. Yay!

Oh good!! I was wondering how it would taste with lemon added, now I know. I also was wondering how it would be with yogurt as I have some that I need to use up! Now I know I can switch it up a bit and still like it. Thanks for sharing your results!!! Oh, and I got it from a gal named Biz. The name I use is "Biz's spinach smoothie". She did have a youtube video to go with it, but have since heard it was taken down, but have not looked to see if that is true so it may still be up if you wish to see it.

I finally did it!

My new cinnamon vitamix 7500 is coming in a few days!!

I've wanted one for YEARS, but I finally found a decent buy plus I realize I probably can help both my Dad's and my diets out using the vitamix.

I'm so stoked! It was one of the 'five easy payment' buys. Now to get some receipe ideas!!!

That's the one I have--the same color too--I got it when QVC had it on the TSV a couple of weeks ago--love the color and the machine--still learning to use it but expect it to last as long as I do!!

Oh, that's great! I'm hoping the color is what I expect, it can be hard to tell from the pictures. I've actually been watching the Ninja presentation because they have a cinnamon color too, lol!

It is HERE!!!! I'm in love!!!

The color is just beautiful and it goes with my kitchen (cinnamon red, not cinnamon brown as I suddenly feared after ordering!)

I just did my smoothie that I've been making for a week or so-- protein, coconut milk, and lots of frozen berries. I was using a hand blender, and while it was good, it definitely had 'bits'. Now it is sooooooo smooth, and I wasn't even trying. It has an amazing color too. I'm surprised there is so much difference in the product.

I'm going through all the books and videos. I'm just so excited. I've wanted this for years and it is great that I was able to get the newer model.

I'm sure glad I found this thread... it has so much useful information in it.

I've been a Vitamix owner for eleven years. I have a 5000 and a Pro 750. I don't think I could survive without a Vitamix... in my opinion, there's just nothing that can compare with it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

My husband has never met a seed he didn't hate with a passion... well, he will tolerate tiny strawberry seeds, but that's about it. Thanks to our Vitamix, he gets good antioxidant-loaded berries, seeds and all, in his green smoothies. He even brags to everyone about what a great job the Vitamix does on blackberry seeds.

Lately, I've been using the Vitamix for dry chopping veggies to make chopped salads, which we really enjoy.

Love, love, love my Vitamix.

I made a killer smoothie last night (not induction friendly, good if you're in maintenance and eat bananas though) - 1 banana, frozen, and cut into chunks, 1 cup TJ's coconut milk in the carton (could use almond milk or soy milk, whatever you like), sweetener to taste, and a tablespoon of natural PB. MAN it was good!

That sounds delicious! Fortunately, I'm on maintenance and can eat bananas. I will definitely be making this.
