How to store Flax Seed Meal?

I am getting all confused as I read different things. How do I store flax seed meal and how long will it stay fresh for?

Once the seed is ground into meal it must be kept in the refrigerator. It will keep for about 2 weeks. Whole seeds do not need refrigeration.

I always roll the bag shut and seal it with a paperclip and keep it in the door of the fridge. I think it lasts quite a long time that way, it probably takes me 6 months to go through the bag.

Do as I say,not as I do. I would advise people to store in fridge, however, I have a package that I have had in my cupboard for I don't know how long and I just started using it last week and it is not rancid and there are no extra curricular protein particles crawling around in it either .

I keep mine in the fridge because I use it so often. I'll go through my bag in less than 6 months. If I used it less often, I would keep it in the freezer.

I keep mine in the freezer. You can still measure it frozen (it doesn't clump) and it will thaw quickly.

I don't use mine up very fast, so I store it in my freezer.
