Favorite Chicken/Tuna Salad Recipe

I know this has got to be one of the most
quick and common low carb recipes used
frequently.

personally for the Tuna, I use old bay's,mayo, tuna and celery
and for the chicken salad, I like chicken, mayo, celery, and hard
boiled egg slices.

...This is a staple spice in our Maryland home!

We use it in everything from eggs to traditional Chesapeake Bay steamed crabs!

My version is basically the same....one difference on the Tuna salad (I learned this from Panera Bread) I add spicy brown mustard to it...It's awesome!

i just got the recipe from the owner of a restaurant that i use to love the chic salad, but there no longer there, i wish i could lc it though, its 1 cup mayo,tablespoon stone ground mustard and a 1/4 cup honey.any ideas to simulate the honey?

tuna: mayo, dill, onion, mustard (sometimes green pepper)

These are great ideas. It is cool when you can make
something so simple with new twists. The avacado I will definitely
have to try adding to my chicken Salad.

Anyone ever mix crab meat and tuna for this?

Tuna - I start with Trader Joe's olive oil packed solid tuna - drain, add a good blop of Best Foods mayo, some minced red onion, and some minced jalapeno or Serrano pepper.

Chicken - blop of mayo, sliced green onion, minced green olives with pimientos, garlic and onion powders, minced hot peppers.

Great, now I want tuna salad!

Hubby likes his tuna with a tiny bit of mayo, some oregano, and some black pepper - that's it. Today, after reading this thread, I chopped up an avocado and added it, and he is loving it!

And I honestly didn't know until reading this thread that Old Bay was used for anything other than boiling up fresh shrimp :blush:

chicken salad= diced chicken, celery, mayo, chipotle mustard, chopped HB egg, green onions, sunflower seeds

tuna= tuna, mayo, celery, mayo, chipotle mustard, green onions, tiny shake or two of powdered ranch dressing, sunflower seeds

both served atop pre shredded cole slaw mix-I could eat this 5 days out of 7

My favorite chicken salad recipe (an occasional treat)

shredded chicken
red onion
celery
slivered almonds
granny smith apple
parsley
mayo

It's also really good if you sub out cranberries and walnuts for the apple and the almonds or you could toss in some halved red seedless grapes too.

A quick and easy favorite for either chicken or tuna is to mix it with some Fage (or sour cream) and some salsa. Yum!!

Since I've never eaten it directly - just used it in boiling shrimp - I was curious too and looked it up. The Wiki entry is really interesting - among other things it says

The seasoning mix includes mustard, paprika, celery seed, bay leaf, both black and red pepper, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, salt and ginger

to the site and thanks for bumping!! I was going to post about my chicken salad experiment and now I can just add it here.

I wanted to make some chicken salad and normally I would just put celery and then add mayo, onion powder and salt and pepper. I like my salad simple, but I was out of celery and knew I would miss the crunch so I decided to grab some cabbage and chop it up into bits and then added mayo, sour cream, some celery salt, onion powder, salt and pepper. It was pretty tasty!! So now I have a new way of fixing chicken salad.

Gina, I've also found diced, peeled raw jicama to be a VERY nice celery substitute in tuna or chicken salad. Of course, the key there..........you have to have one sitting around.
