Lori: Halfway through the cooking, put in SF Dove chocolate..It will sink then melt to make a creamy center..You could also melt one on top and just spread it around the top for a frosting..Then add whipped cream..

I was also shooting for a lower calorie option. I used 1/4 c eggbeaters (30), 2 T low fat sour cream (35), 1 T cocoa powder (20), 1 T flax (30). Instead of the cream I used water - I was out of the Carb Countdown Milk I usually use.

It was excellent and only 115 calories! Good deal!

Aaaahhhhh, but as soon as you added the flaxseed meal back in, there went the "flourless" part...!

Never mind, this whole thread started with a "flour"like ingredient removal from the 3 Minute Cake, so now you have the low fat 3 Minute Cake...

haha... I guess it is no surprise with all of the tweaking these threads usually get, we've arrived back at the 3 minute chocolate cake. It is deja vu!

Though, I guess the cocoa could be just as much of a 'flour' as flax meal. One is ground cocoa beans, the other ground flax seeds. (Insert question mark smiley - I can't find the smileys when I'm editing)

made this with vanilla protein powder instead of cocoa...topped it with plain yogurt, then I poured strawberries and blueberries sweetened with vanilla Davincis...can't believe it low carb!! I love the way it puffs up, then sinks back down...I find it comical!

I made it tonight and it was awesome! Thanks Carolyn for posting. I did forget to add the butter but it was great. I mixed a 0.5tablespoon of light cream cheese and Davinci chocolate together for a frosting. It was so good. I put it into ****** and calories are 138 without the butter.

Yes, I did the lowfat recipe and used vanilla protein powder instead of cocoa.
Turned out more like a sponge cake with my pro powder...was sooo yum yum!

Tonight I made it with 1/4 tsp. of the Splenda Quick Pack. It worked really well.

This is a great quick fix for something chocolate.

Hi All,

I just made this because I was kinda missing chocolate cake...this TOTALLY did the trick. I admit, I was wondering how this was going to turn out, but it had the consistency of cake and was fudgy enough to take away my cravings...I had to stop mine a bit early because it was puffing up so high, but I think that was actually good, because it made it nice and moist.

I love how easy this is, too! Great for a quick sweet treat on the go!

I put a Tbspn of the powdered peanut butter (PB2) that I just got in the mail instead of one of the Tbspns of cocoa and it was great!

I used PB instead of butter and I did the chocolate protein powder instead of Cocoa.
It was so good. I cheated because I poured 2 tbs of heavy cream on top while still hot.

please forgive my ignorance, but what is the cocoa powder? What brand do ya'll buy?

Also carolyn can you tell me how many carbs per packet of splenda. You added 5 packets to one 8 once cup? Wasn't that super sweet? I use 3 packets of splenda in a whole recipe of the cream cheese muffins and they are plenty sweet for me. I am just trying to find out the sweetness level on this.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Hey Cheryl: We live about 15 miles from OK..

Cocoa powder is just unsweetened cocoa that you buy in the flour, etc. department of the grocery store. It is around the packaged nuts at Wallie World. Chocolate takes LOTS of sweetner..You definitely could try the 3 pkgs and see what you think..

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for the info on the cocoa powder. I think I will try the 5 first and if it is too sweet I will cut back. I would rather it be too sweet than too bitter, if you know what I mean.

I am about 30 miles North of the Texas Ok border.

Can you please tell me the totals with the 5 packets of splenda?

Hi all!!!

Ok, you know what??? This recipe is so great...I decided to do a little tweaking.

I tried using the vanilla protein powder like carbkinky instead of the cocoa, and it was also delicious!!! I added some sf strawberry jam and whipped cream to top it off...yum....

I also started thinking about the consistency of this...and thought...this may make for great bread!!! So I experimented with not adding the vanilla extract or splenda, but adding garlic, salt, and cheese....it made a very yummy cheesy muffin-like concoction that I thought was fantastic!

I'm going to use this new recipe to substitute for burger buns and sandwich bread!!!

I'm so happy I found this thread....thanks so much Carolyn for posting this!!

Great idea, LCC: How about your tweaked recipe for the bread? And I think
a person could cook it in a Grab-It bowl or a small round casserole dish, right?

Give us your "bread" recipe, please..

Ok...I pretty much used the same ingredients as Carolyn except I replaced a few things for the more bread-like recipe..

Mine is a garlic cheesy bread

2 tbsp protein powder (I used vanilla whey protein because it was all I had...plain may be better)
1 tsp baking powder
1tbsp heavy whipping cream
1 tbsp sour cream
garlic powder to taste (or you can substitute or add other spices - italian seasoning might be really good)
salt to taste
a handful of cheese - your choice...I used 4-cheese mexican...cheddar would be great too!

mix all of these togegther except for the cheese and put into a square microwaveable bowl...I didn't need to pam spray it, but you can.

Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds, but halfway through, add the cheese and stir throughout. Then, finish the microwave process...

Once it is done, take it out..if it's thick enough, you can cut it in half and use on a sandwich, or burger as a bun...or just spread some butter on it and eat.

The spongey texture made it taste like bread to me, enough for me to use this recipe a lot in the future!

Thanks so much...It's nice to not have to buy carbquick flour or other expensive brands in order to make good cake and a decent bread!

Where do you all get protein powder?

I tried the chocolate cake recipe this weekend and couldnt believe how good it was. It tasted exactly like chocolate cake. The texture was even great. I will definately be making this again.

Hi Msil

I found mine at wal-mart. It was near the vitamins and health bars. I just got vanilla whey protein...definitely check the carb counts, some differ greatly.

I think you can also get them at some regular grocery stores and health food stores. Hope that helps!
