Pork Chop Alfredo

We tried these last night and they are so good.... Dh love the gravy it makes with the alfredo.... we were talking about trying it with Hamburger patties made into hamburger steaks and adding some cooked onions to the mix..... Dh couldn't get enough of it....and made sure I saved the Alfredo sauce ( gravy) it made......

Here is a good pork chop recipie. By JosieL

Pork Chops Alfredo

6 Porkchops boneless
1 T. Butter
Garlic Powder
Salt N Pepper
8 ounces fresh mushrooms sliced
1 Jar (16 ounce) Alredo Sauce
1/2 cup Parm. cheese
1/2 tsp thyme (opt.)

Sprinkle the chops on both sides with the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Melt butter in pan and brown chops on both sides. Arrange chops in bottom of 9X13 cassorele dish. Slice the mushrooms and scatter over the chops. Pour alfredo sauce into a bowl. Add parm. cheese to the bowl and mix well. Pour sauce over chops. Sprinkle with thyme if you wish. Cover and bake at 300 degrees for one hour. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Made this tonight and put 1 sauteed vadalia onion in it. Scooped it over steamed cauliflower and DH said "tasty".

Alfredo

I thought Prego was good. It was mild so you can add to it if desired.
Some are too strong.. also one does not always want to cook.

What a great idea! Thanks for the reminder. I'm sure I have that recipe around here somewhere. Funny, though I was just eyeing the pork chops in the freezer wondering what I wanted to do with them. THIS!!!!

Just curious how homemade alfredo sauce would hold up in the oven for an hour. Would it separate and get all nasty I wonder?

DO you have a recipe for homemade sauce you could share Mike?
As to your question, I have no idea.

I've been thinking about that question Mike. Depending on what's in your Alfredo sauce I think it'd be fine. Using cream and cream cheese is one recipe I've seen. I think with the temperature as low as it is, your sauce shouldn't 'break'.

But that's just a guess. I will make this again though. I found some carbonara sauce that has a bit better ingredient list. I'd be interested though if you have a recipe you'd like to share.

I use the cream cheese/heavy cream method. I never measured but I'd just soften the cream cheese and add the heavy cream until its about the right consistency. Then add the parm cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder. Oh and a pinch of nutmeg too.

I think that's the one I've seen. Thanks for posting it. I'll have to give it a try since I think I made the DD#3 sick with the jarred one. It had soy bean oil and she can't do soy. Yours sounds super easy.

But, to answer your original question, yes I think that'd work. At 300 the cream shouldn't get too hot. Let us know if you try it!

If you brown the pork chops, I bet this would be good in the crock pot too. Or even if you had leftover pork chops or chicken, even.

You do brown them first. But yep. I gave the leftover sauce to the oldest DD so she could do just that. Cook some chicken and put the sauce over it. I think she had a spaghetti squash and was going to make a chicken Alfredo.

I wanna try the idea with onions and hamburger steaks... Yumm!

I just picked up the most luscious fresh alfredo from Costco- this is the first recipe that came to my head to try!
