Peanut Butter in the Magic Bullet?

I have a big can of peanuts and was wondering if the Magic Bullet could make them into peanut butter..Would I have to add a touch of oil, I wonder??

Edited to say that I found the recipe:

Anyone with a blender or food processor can easily make their own homemade peanut butter.
INGREDIENTS:

* 2 cups roasted shelled peanuts
* 1 tablespoon peanut oil
* 1/2 teaspoon salt (omit if salted peanuts are used)

PREPARATION:
If using a blender, put the oil in first. Add the peanuts and salt next. Blend until desired consistency is reached.

In the food processor, use the metal blade to process ingredients continuously for 2 to 3 minutes.

Carolyn did you try it out? I bought a jar of natural peanut butter once and I didn't like it. It wasn't sweet at all tasted just like eating peanuts (I know weird that is what you'd think it's supposed to taste like but for some reason I like it better sweet). The kind I like is Peter Pan sweetened with Splenda. Maybe you could add some Splenda or other type of sugar free sweetener to your homemade kind.

No, I haven't tried it yet, but I do think I would add some Splenda, too..Great idea. I don't have any peanut oil, but have almond/walnut oil that I could add to it..

Well, I made some and it's good!!! It was a giant can and I had gotten a while back, but never opened it. They were dry roasted..which have some bad things in them, but I went ahead and mixed some with walnut oil and one splenda pack..(the little ones)
I made 1/2 shake glass full..and put it in the fridge for some reason..

Maybe I don't need to refrigerate it, but I did..

You know, I think this would be so much cheaper than buying peanut butter..
Maybe..at least the natural kind.

Glad you like it. The natural peanut butter has to be refridgerated after opening, so I think you're right to keep it in the fridge!

Heather: I thought so, too..Even though you can keep peanuts on the shelf..I just put in there to be safe.

I can't eat PB (trigger food). But I really like almond butter in my bullet. I use the the dry roasted almonds from Sams. I add I T or so of oil and some liquid splenda. Its really good. BTW, at christmas I made magical PB cookies using this homemade almond butter recipe and adding 4oz of cream cheese...was divine!!

Carolyn--

When you made the 1/2 container full, is that how much nuts you started with OR how much pb you ended up with? Yes, I too am a new MB owner and the making pb had passed my mind.
Thanks, helper

Helper: I filled the shake cup about 2/3 full of nuts..added about 2 TBS. of oil and 2 tsp. of Splenda. It came out to be about 1/2 full....Plenty for quite a while, I think.

Thanks, Carolyn. I did try it. Think I added a tad too much oil, but its o.k.

Carbkinky-- I have some frozen sliced almonds. Can I use them as is or would it be better to toast them first?
Thanks, helper

Helper: I have bought raw almond butter before..but I do like the taste of roasted almonds..I think it brings on the flavor more.

CarbK: Sorry about the oil..just add more nuts OR do a peanut butter/almond butter mix.
