Um yeah, I just made this last night, minus the Hb eggs, I didn't have any. It's amazing. It will be my go to salad. I have been looking for something like this. I added 1 cucumber and some sliced red onion to mine. I used red wine vinegar because it's all I had.

OK, chicken and salad got pushed to tonight and last night we just had bacon and eggs. We started cleaning the house and really got crazy with it before we realized how much time had gone by. At least the house is spotless!

Wash and pat dry the chicken.
Rub the skin with olive oil and season with whatever you like, season the cavity too!
Open the top of the beer can and drink half of it.
Add half a lemon, half a head of garlic and a few sprigs of rosemary to the remaining beer (dont worry about the rind and garlic peels, just toss it all in).
Prop the chicken up on the can and set on the grill on indirect heat.
Takes an hour and 15min and comes out perfect every time. You seriously cant mess it up!

You can google for pics and more detailed instructions. You can also put whatever you like in the beer for flavor but we like the lemon/garlic/rosemary combo.

Its pretty much the only way we make chicken these days.

the new pic Andi!!! So cute!

O.k. I just made this for lunch and WOLFED it down. YUM! I didn't use bacon but just bacon grease I had saved in the fridge. I used a bag of TJ's herbed salad mix and only added some red onion and hard boiled egg. I used Coconut vinegar for the dressing. Wow, so good! Really hit the spot.

Thanks Ms. Woods for bumping this thread up. In all my years on this board I had never seen or heard of this one. I will be making this one a lot.

I've been eating this salad every day for 3 weeks. Still not sick of it! I could barely gag down regular salads anymore, but this one, I could eat too much of. I use baby spinach, bacon, feta cheese, hb egg and red onion in mine.

I think the feta cheese really makes this salad.

5CATS4ME'S GERMAN SALAD
3 slices bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons bacon grease
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons granular Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda *
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
5 ounces romaine lettuce, chopped (see my comment below)
2 hard boiled eggs, chopped
2 ounces cucumber, about 8 slices
4 ounces grape tomatoes, halved, about 16
1 large mushroom, sliced thin
1 1/2 ounces red onion, sliced thin

Fry the bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels and reserve 2 tablespoons of the grease. Let the grease cool 5-10 minutes then add the vinegar, Splenda and mayonnaise; whisk well. In a large bowl, toss the remaining ingredients and the bacon. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to coat.

Makes about 4 very large servings

* Deduct 1 carb per serving if using liquid Splenda

Per Serving: 221 Calories; 20g Fat; 6g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 5g Net Carbs

This is so good that it was hard to stop eating it. Of course you can add whatever salad veggies you like and leave out the ones you don't. If you don't have a kitchen scale, just fill a big salad bowl with lettuce and it will be close enough.
I was excited until I saw the 20 net crbs for the whole thing! I figured I could probably eat 1/2 if really hungry....but 10 NET carbs???? Yikes
