Who said you can't eat pizza in this WOE(pic)

There was a thread several days ago asking what foods you missed the most in this WOE. One of the resounding answers was PIZZA! Well, I made the deepdish lc pizza tonight, and (not to toot my own horn!), it was better than any pizza I've ever eaten. Just goes to show that anything that your missing right now, there's usually a lc variation that is just as good. No reason to ever cheat!!

4 oz cream cheese
2 eggs
1/4 C parmasean
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp garlic powder
8 oz shredded mozzerella

1/4 C pizza sauce
4 oz shredded mozzerella
toppings of choice

Whisk cream cheese till smooth. Add eggs and mix. Add parmasean and seasoning, and stir in 8 oz mozzerella(I used half colby). Spread into greased 9x13 dish(or line with parchment paper). I actually used a pizza pan, but the crust spread and dripped in my oven. Bake 375 degreese 20-25 min until brown. Take out and let cool. Take a spatula and pry edges loose. Refridgerate. Put toppings on and bake 375 degrees 15-20 minutes.

I love pizza, too. Have recently found the best substitute is a LC flaxmeal crust. The recipe is on the board here under "most awesome pizza". Sorry, I don't know how to do links.

That does look good. I made a pizza yesterday, the recipe that was posted in that thread, and it was sooo good. I really was skeptical, but man it was good.

I have no idea what the cal/fat/ carbs are. I believe if you go to the recipe room, they might be listed with the original recipe. The crust was nice and crispy on top, and moist on the bottom. We reheated it in our toaster oven, and it crisped up nicely. And I LOVE my pizza stone. Things cook so much better and evenly on it.

This is my particular version of this with my favorite toppings as an example of the nutritional breakdown:

Cheese Crust Pizza

Crust:

4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
3 eggs, large
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 cup full fat mozzarella cheese, grated
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 cup provolone cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 375F degrees.

Beat the cream cheese, eggs, cream, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, garlic powder and Italian seasoning together until smooth. Mix the mozzarella, parmesan and provolone cheeses together. Spread the mixed grated cheeses evenly on a 10 inch by 15 inch non-stick jelly roll pan. Spread the egg mixture carefully and thinly over all of the cheese. Place in the heated oven for 15 minutes. Remove and let cool.

Toppings:

3/4 cup marinara sauce (5 net carbs or less per serving)
6 tblsp. black olives, sliced
1 green bell pepper, large
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
3/4 pound Italian sausage, sweet
1 cup full fat mozzarella, grated

Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the cheese crust. Slice the bell pepper and mushrooms and saute them with the Italian sausage until the sausage is cooked. Spread evenly over the crust. Add the olives. Spread the mozzarella over all of the toppings. Bake until bubbling and beginning to brown.

8 servings:
Cal 405, Fat 31, Carb 6.3, Fiber .6, Protein 26, Net Carbs 5.7

I have wanted to make something like this, but have not. The picture looks better than most take out pizza around here thats for sure! The reason is my nemisis, MR. Portion Control. One thing I do believe strongly about the Dr. A book is the part on protein being self limiting. Even when I overeat steak, for example, its like 16 oz of meat w/o a bone (stop laughing, I can and have done that!). I could'nt go on to eat another large steak, and another, and another. I knew this was true even b/4 low carbing. Steak Houses even center promotions around that fact. I remember going w/ my dad once to Las Vegas in the early '90's. We went to the Rio Hotel steak house. Now let me tell you - this man can eat steak! They had a promo that if you ordered the 56oz porterhouse steak and finished it to their satisfaction (like a $100 piece of meat), it was free. I honestly thought he could do it. Boy he tried. He ate about 2/3 of the "roast" and gave up. So my point is that even to die-hard steak fiends, protein is self limiting. But, this is NOT the case w/ pizza. If this pizza is as yummy and satisfying as it looks (and everyone says it is), how do you possibly limit yourself to say 2 slices when the overeating demon comes a knocking?
