Hi hani,

I purchased 2 64oz jars of the Maltitol Vanilla Syrup as well as the Maltitol Honey. I've used both jars of the honey so far...mostly with peanut butter for a sweet snack on low carb bread. The vanilla syrup is said to work well as a replacement for corn syrup in recipes...plan to use it in an old family peanut brittle recipe come the holidays. I tend to use the granular sugar alcohols in my baked goods, however, the syrup could be used to sweeten coffee, tea, or koolaide drinks...I would use it in smaller quantities or mixed with other sweeteners because of the rather pronounced laxative effect associated with maltitol...hope this helps... ;-)

locarbman, please let us know if the syrup works for peanut brittle -- it's been an old favorite here too, for gifts and eating. That would be wonderful. I bought a jar with some holiday recipes in mind but didn't think of the brittle.

LOL! Will do, am watching football all day today...
I'll bump the post from last year, however, I intend to use a different sugar alcohol along with the vanilla maltitol syrup to lower the laxative effect (if possible ;-) this time...

Locarbman: What are your thoughts on the LC honey? What brand do you use?

Thanks!

Hi Jenifer, I use Steel's Honey Flavor Nature Sweet Sugar Free Sweetener... (maltitol syrup base;-) I love it! Works like real honey in recipes with 0 carbs and is great with peanut butter on homemade almond flour bread. The only other thing I have to say is I've used 2 12 jar cases and 2 64oz big jars so far... Is this what you want to know? lol!

Hani, I haven't used it yet in baking, however, the website says "Vanilla Nature Sweet. Maltitol syrup and pure vanilla extract...This product can be used for baking as a substitute for sugar o...64oz $18.00".

I prefer xylitol and stevia in my baked goods...hope this helps... ;-)

PS: Attempted to send you an email with my sources list so you could check prices at several different places, however, I received the message that you do not accept emails...

LOL! I wanted to edit the above post to remove the reference to email...as it seemed a bit negative and found that we are now limited to 60 minutes from the time of original posting to make any edits...or even to delete a post. I find this condition unacceptable...so farewell all... ;-(

Locarbman: You've solved so many problems for most of us, and been an invaluable source of information for a long time. I'll be VERY disappointed if you are no longer around.

Oh please don't leave the site. You are such a valuable and fun person here.
I didn't see a thing negative in your above post. Please reconsider.

I think the main reason that rule came to being is because of the BS on the playground and people deleting entire posts after others put so much thought into their replies.

Locarbman, please reconsider coming back. I don't like the new rule either but you are too valuable to leave. I don't post often here but always look for your posts because you know so much. Please come back. Julie

As a relatively new guy to this BB, I immediately recognized lowcarbman as an authoritative person for the board.

He will be missed by many if he decides to leave and it will be a detriment to the board. I hope he reconsiders.

You're right LCM - that is unacceptable. But please don't leave - you are a great voice here, and perhaps we can work together to implement a change.

Snivelling off into a corner....

I agree also that it's unacceptable, particularly on the recipe board, where tweaks and corrections to recipes are essential. I wrote a post on the Suggestions for the Webmaster board about it, but I don't know if anyone reads over there. Someone had commented they were happy about the change because it would make people think before saying something.

If the recipe is the first post in a thread, and the correction is on the second page of that thread, it won't get noticed. If you start a second thread to make a correction, then it's in a different place than the original.
Locarbman, you're a very valuable member of this board! I'd hate to see you stay away. I agree we should all lobby the webmasters to rescind this change!

You're right Jazzy - I totally agree with what you said. I'll be going over to the suggestions to add to your comments. Thank you also, for being such a great "voice" here!

Hugs!
