Michelob Ultra is awesome. It tastes like regular beer (to me anyhow) and it has only 2.2 carbs in it I think.

*Warning--it may cause you to get drunk much faster...my DF , who usually handles beer and liquer well, got buzzed off of 2 beers, drank 7 more and was prank calling people from a freinds cell phone*

Don't say I didn't warn ya!

Any dry wine is a good choice...but only after induction.

I like Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet, Champagne, or Chardonnay. Try and stay away from the "sweeter" type wines like White Zinfandel, Rieslings, Lambrusco, etc.

Baja Bob makes an AWESOME margarita mix that is flavored with Splenda, I've made frozen margaritas from it and they taste ALMOST as good as the real thing!

Sleeman Clear

only 2.5 carbs.
If you live in Canada, you should try the new Sleeman Clear. (might be able to buy it in the States soon).

I got this off the Sleeman's website:

"Most regular beers, which contain 5 per cent alcohol, have about 145 calories and 10 to 11 grams of carbohydrates. Light beers, with 4 per cent alcohol or less, have about 105 calories with 6.6 grams of carbs.

Sleeman Clear, with 4 per cent alcohol, comes in at 90 calories, and only 2.5 grams of carbohydrates.

Sleeman is following the lead of Anheuser-Busch in the United States, whose Michelob Ultra — 2.8 grams of carbohydrates per bottle — was the first offering in the light/low carbohydrate category"

mich ultra is a GREAT low carb beer... i hear that miller lite is also lower in carbs than most. One thing I would steer clear of is that new low carb smirnoff-ice-type-crap... i forget what its called, but I had one drink and the rest of the six pack sat in my fridge for a month before I threw it out!

Just remember.....NO alcohol on induction!! Save it for OWL, and you still have to be careful with it. It hinders weight loss in some. Most big losers save it for special occasions--or at least weekends.

Mich Ultra is 2.6 per bottle. There was an article posted on the main board a few days ago about the big beer companies jumping on the LC bandwagon. Michelob has done a bang-up business with Ultra, and others want to cash in, too. I've even found it at restaurants, which is a nice surprise, because it means that people are ASKING for it!

Starry, I think you're right about the accelerated buzz....I can only handle one or two at most, which, in a way, is OK because it's self-limiting (sorta like SF chocolate but with no unpleasant side effects ).

Mich Ultra - 2.6 carbs per 12 oz.

Miller Lite - 3.2 carbs per 12 oz.

Guiness - 5 carbs per 12 oz.

Hard liquors (vodka, whiskey, gin, unflavored rum, etc.) - 0 carbs (just watch those mixers!)

There's a new one on the market called Thin Ice... supposed to be a hard lemonade type drink. Haven't found it anywhere around here. I think it's something like 1 carb per 12 oz.

and as a public service annoucement... although it may be low in carbs, excessive consumption of alcohol may cause craving, binging, carb-eating, and slow weight loss...

***edited because I'm an idiot MILLER Lite is 3.2 carbs. Bud Light is indeed 6.6 carbs... and, while we're at it, Coors Light is 5.0, and Corona Light is 6.5.***

schnapps and carbs??

I am fairly experienced with Atkins, but would like to have a mixed drink once in a while. I like to mix different flavors of schnapps with diet soda. Does anyone know is schnapps has any carbs or not or does it depend on the flavor.

Schnapps is pretty sweet. Unfortunately, I'm sure it is loaded with sugar.

You could try mixing some vodka with a SF fruit flavored DaVinci syrup like peach or green apple to simulate a schnapps with no carbs!

MichD, Thanks for the info. on Sleemans. I, too, am in Canada and usually go to Detroit to get Michelob Ultra. BUT, to be able to get something here is a big BONUS!!! Thanks, again. I'll look next time at the Beer Store.

I think you meant to say Miller Lite has 3.2 carbs as Bud Lite has more like 6.6.

kdog41 is right! Just wanted to affirm this so everyone doesn't make a mistake out there. I personally like Miller Lite more than Michelob Ultra, and it tends to be less expensive.

Chardonnay is my drink of choice, however, and the Baja Bob's Margarita Mix has made it that I don't really miss any other alcoholic drink.

By the way, a TINY amount of the Baja Bob added to water makes a nice lemonade.

Yup. You're right.

That's what I get for having my fingers move faster than my brain. I think one thing, and type another.

I've edited the original post... thanks.
