Homemade no-carb taco seasoning mix?

The envelope stuff has 20 carbs per! Seems a little steep for just seasonings. Does anyone have a recipe for homemade? I know what goes in it (chili powder, cumin, turmeric, &c.), but I don't know the right proportions. Thanks!

Nicole: All taco seasoning have carbs because spices have carbs -so don't be disappointed when you see that they do have a fair amount of carbs

Hi, I found a low carb taco seasoning recipe as I find the ones in store are too high...they add sugar etc. The one I found is 2 tbs. chili pwdr...5 tsp paprika...4 1/2tsp. cumin....1 tbsp. onion pwdr...2 1/2 tsp garlic pwdr....1/8 tsp cayenne pepper. Only has .75 carbs per tsp. Recipe says you only need 1 tsp. I plan on trying this next week as I used the store bought one today and I only used a little of their package with beef and had a great taco salad.

I use
1 can of rotell
1 green pepper
1 cup of jalapeno peppers
2 tbs of cayenne pepper
1 tbs of cummin
a pinch of salt

blend all in mixer till smooth then pour into the 1lb of ground beef or turkey and let it simmer.

we love our tacos super hot so you could cut back on the cayenne and jalapenos.

I think the commercial seasonings are carby because they use starch for thickening. Here's the one I use.

1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Mix well and use 1-2tbs per pound of meat. Seal in airtight container.

Thank you. Next time I will have to try one of these recipes. I love tacos now I have learned how to make cheese taco shells.
