Ready Whip in the Can

Is this bad to eat??? I have heard people say its bad and has sugar, but I used it before and the can says 0 carbs and 0 sugar - but how can it taste so good? I realize there are different kinds, non-dairy, etc.. But do many of you use this (there is chocolate now too!) and does it cause any problems?

I have made my own topping with heavy whipping cream, but don't always feel like doing that or have the time - not to mention the "filmy feeling" it leaves in my mouth sometimes... and it doesn't keep well in the fridge for long.

I look forward to this answer too. I put the chocolate in a 1 cup bowl and freeze it...voila...chocolate ice cream.. Great in a TOM craving fit. So is it good or bad?

The ingredients list sugar in all the brands I have looked at. Maybe you should make your own with Heavy cream and splenda.

if there is less than 1 gram per serving of carbs or anything they can say 0 grams. So if they make the serving size small enugh they could make even sugar look like it's 0 grams. we just can't trust those lables. Learn to look at the ingrediants while you're looking at the lable and you'll soon learn what the game is and how to play it.

Unfortunately, Redi-whip is not something you should be eating because of the sugar. I agree the convenience is wonderful though. Let's hope the company figures it out soon and makes a version with Splenda. I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Maybe we should start an email campaign. It has worked before. I bet the stuff would fly off the shelves.

Here is the contact website. They have it all set up for comments.

Get an ISI whipper or put one on your Christmas list! I love mine I just fill it with 2 cups cream, splash of Davinci's and I'm good to go for weeks.

I posted over on the main board about this.

Don't you have to continue to buy those cartridges for the ISI whipper? That is my reason for not having one at this point, although I know many people love them. And the whipper itself is kind of pricey if I remember correctly. I guess I have been waiting for Reddi-wip to come though.

We've been using something similar for since OWL. And almost every day since we discovered Da Vinci! We put 1 tbs in our morning decaf coffee with a tbs of syrup. Started this several weeks ago & dw and I are on our first official stall.

We have been using Rockview Farms Ultra-Pasteurized Sweetened Whipped Light Cream (from Trader Joe's). Carbs listed as 1 carb per 2 tbs. Although it contains sugars & sorbital, we figured it was ok since it contained only 1 gram of sugar per 2 tbs.

Someone please help with the logic here. So we can eat no sugar? Even if the carb count is 1 gram?? A fellow Atkins lc'er is the one who recommended this to us!

Was our morning decaf coffee treat too good to be true?

Yes, you do have to buy the chargers. We buy them in a 12 pack and I only refill my isi maybe once every 6 weeks or so. You put a new charger in when you refill. I don't know how much the chargers are because my dh bought them for me as a Christmas gift with the charger, but I know many here have found them online for good prices. Yes, the cream stays fresh. I'm going to find a pic to post.

Greaterlife - I think this product is fine and it is just a coincidence that you are having a stall. Stall are a part of this WOL and I have had many. You just need to work through it.

Since the product contains sorbitol which is a sugar alcohol it should be just fine. Of course, the DaVinci is Splenda which is fine.

You are also using such a small amount, so the sorbitol shouldn't bother you.

All dairy products list sugar, but these are natural sugars occuring in dairy. It is ADDED sugar that you need to stay away from and Reddi-wip has ADDED sugar.

You can still enjoy your decafs in the morning.

Well, I learned something new here today. I didn't know that the ISI needed a nitrous oxide charger.
Don't I get that stuff at the dentist?
My daughter has one and swears by it.
Although this gadget sounds great, I think I will just keep on whipping my cream with my stick blender. Old habits die hard.
