LC snack ideas.

Veggies with hummus and guac. Add fresh chopped garlic to the guac and/or hummus and cayenne pepper if you like these... they are great for you.

Spanish omelet - eggs with sharp cheddar cheese inside. You can also add green onions, mushrooms or any other veggies or even meats you like to your omelet, top with sour cream and fresh salsa.

Miso soup with wakame and tofu cubes
(you can buy fresh miso stock in many asian markets as well as dried wakame seaweed and firm tofu- that is all you need)

If you eat meat, sashimi is always great!

Seaweed salad (there are many online recipes for it, but mostly it is wakame, I believe, vinegar, different herbs- often with sesame seeds on top)
If the recipe calls for sugar, ditch it. Many sushi places also have seaweed salad, although I can't tell you if they add sugar... ask at individual places!

In moderation- tabouli salad!

Grilled salmon (for meat eaters) with steamed veggies!

Carrot-ginger soup (in moderation because of the sugar in carrots)

minestrone soup (you can use small amounts of spelt pasta which help make it much lower carb- minnestrone soup was apparently Da Vinci's favourite meal and you can find Da Vinci's minestrone soup recipes online- ditch the noodles and it is gluten free- also vegan and full of good nutrients!)

Fresh herbs and veggies make a huge difference in taste... many herbs can easily be grown in containers on the porch or balcony and are fun and easy to grow, like mint, parsley, cilantro... tomatoes and sweet potatoes and ginger are also good for balcony and porch gardens.

Have a great day!

What gorgeous dishes -- all of them! Seaweed fascinates me, though I haven't had much experience with it! Good ideas to add to my recipes, thank you!

I live in vancouver, BC so most super markets sell it because there is a huge asian population here, but I guess you could check out china town or any small markets that sell food from different countries? I haven't found the right "sort" of wakame yet.... also, you might want to ask at your local sushi place (if they have seaweed salad) what sort of wakame they use and where they buy it... sometimes they will even given customers the name of their food suppliers!
