November 2011 Dinner Menus

Each week I pick out 6 things to make for dinner (one night is what we call FFY, or fend for yourself, night). This weekly menu becomes the base for the shopping list. Shopping is usually on Sundays, so Monday starts my "menu week".
I start these menu threads every week and month so I have a record of what I fixed and to share to help others perform this sometimes tedious task. Whenever possible, I link to the recipes I use if they are posted online. A lot of the time, the recipes I use are not low carb on their own, so let it be known that any recipe I use is adapted to the LC and SF style.
Please share your weekly menus here, too, and ask for recipes.

I have been hosting these threads since June 2010, and as far as I know all of them are still here if you just search for them. Starting this month, I am going to start linking back to the previous year's thread for the same month. Since our menus tend to change with the seasons, it might be more helpful to see what we were eating last year at this time.

November (2010) Menus

-@-@-@-@-
Week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6
MON: Halloween Chili
TUE: FFY
WED: Grilled Shrimp and Salad
THU: London broil/zucchini cheese casserole
FRI: Grilled Chicken Salad
SAT: Tacos
SUN: Veggie beef soup

Last week was my first week really planning menus...and I stuck to it two whole days. blah.

So, working on a new menu for this week. Hopefully, I will have it figured out and posted this evening!

Why do you suppose it's hard for you to stick to? I find it a "no brainer", I just look at the posted menu in the a.m., defrost the meat and it's just really nice not having to worry about what's for dinner when dinner time comes around.

I've never been able to stick to a menu...because I like to eat what sounds good or what I'm in the mood for that day. I normally defrost meat in the morning as well...so it's whatever I feel like eating that morning..LOL

We are going to give it another shot. I already have some protein cooked up for a couple of nights, so I should be good to go.

Oh, well don't worry about that, too much, Misty. It doesn't matter if you make a thing on one night or the other. Just because Wednesday says pork chops, doesn't mean I didn't end up making steak

Kare30bear - on those crunch onion pork chops, try skipping the egg and coat them in a mixture of 1 TBLSP butter melted with 3 TBLSP honey mustard - OMG - to die for!

Hi all - I was all gung-ho at the first of last month, did great that first week and never came back, lol. Hopefully I'll be more diligent this month, it really does make a difference if I preplan my meals. I like to do them Sunday morning, and then head to the grocery store - so I am off shopping after I post, lol And apparently I'm craving mashed cauliflower, I'm having it almost every night this week, hehehe

Mon 11/7: chicken tortilla soup (sans tortillas ) cheddar biscuits
Tue 11/8: Cajun Pork Chops, mashed cauliflower
Wed 11/9: Beef Stroganoff, mashed cauliflower
Thu 11/10: Pulled Pork (we smoked a 13lb shoulder last month, and I've frozen into smaller portions to just dump in the crockpot - it's sooo good!)
Fri 11/11: Brats and Peppers
Sat 11/12: 40 clove chicken, mashed cauliflower
Sun 11/13: Pot roast with turnips

Hiya lcklass! I love mashed cauliflower. I'm the only one who will touch it of course. That reminds me, I've got a head of garlic I need to roast for that.

I think I understand that you are only posting dinner menus? Is there another page for breakfast and lunches? I am sure this is not the only food you eat all day, right?

Good Sunday morning! How was everyone's week? I mostly followed my menu plan, except my husband went crabbing on Sunday and brought home his limit (5 big Dungeness crab - woot!). So a couple of my meals got replaced with yummy crab (made the most amazing crab bisque, so happy I can eat cream guilt free )

Sun 11/13: 40 clove chicken, mashed cauliflower
Mon 11/14: Dinner out
Tue 11/15: Apple glazed pork chops, green beans with bacon/mushrooms
Wed 11/16: Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, Zucchini noodles
Thu 11/17: Grilled Salmon, Brussels sprouts w/bacon
Fri 11/18: meatloaf, mashed cauliflower
Sat 11/19: Pulled pork, coleslaw

I'm sorry no one replied sooner. Yes, this is only dinner menus. People post what they are eating on a given day in threads usually titled "What are you eating today?" in places like the Main Lobby or in specific sub-forums.

Well thanks! I encourage anyone to post their dinner menus here. There's nearly a year and a half of weekly dinner menus in this forum if you need inspiration.

Here we are again! The month is almost over. I will probably make the December thread next week. Not a very exciting week for me menu-wise. Since starting JUDDD a month ago, I've really settled nicely into my down-day dinners on Mon/Wed/Fri... predictable and boring, but working! Anyway, here goes...

MON: Grilled Chicken breast and salad
TUE: FFY
WED: Baked pork chops and salad
THU: Happy Thanksgiving! Eating at the in-laws, I'm bringing a pie.
FRI: Steak and salad
SAT: Turkey Pot Pie (yes, with regular crust, so sue me)
SUN: Out or leftovers

Nice menu Speck, how's JUDD working for ya?

I didn't make a menu this week since I have no idea what will be going on so I doubt I would stick with it anyways. Plus, since we will probably have leftover turkey, but not sure how much...I'm not sure what I will be doing afterwards for that.

Been busy planning DD's b-day party for this upcoming weekend, lots of end of year craziness...other DD has a b-day coming up on Dec. 17th also.

Will be back this weekend to post menus again, just thought I'd "wing" it this week. (So unlike me, but gotta have a break sometimes, I suppose )

Oh, I hear ya! My menu this week is like a cop-out. JUDDD is working OK. I was stalled for 10 solid months (all of 2011) on general low carb, after a year (all of 2010) of slow losses (30 lbs total all year). I tried all sorts of things, and this calorie cycling is just another thing to try. I had some issues this week, but prior to that I've lost 5 lbs in just under a month, which is more than I'd lost all of the rest of this year. So, we shall see. I'm just glad to get things going again.
