Low carb snacks for school?
Wasn't sure where to put this topic. I am starting uni tomorrow and wanted to know if you had any suggestions for low carb snacks/meals to bring. I know there's Atkins bars & shakes. Any other suggestions?

As far as non-perishable snacks...celery w/a little natural peanut butter, macadamia nuts or almonds, sunflower seeds, raw jicama strips. that's all I can think of right now. Good luck/w school!

Hi, Kirk!
I am used to brown bagging it. Some ideas: Scrambled eggs (they keep cold, too) Cherry tomatoes olives (black or green) Hard-boiled egg flax cracker with a schmear of cream cheese pork rinds strawberries (or other low carb fruit) full fat, plain yogurt (keep chilled) |

Excellent topic!
cottage cheese sugar-free jello (sometimes I mix these two) string cheese (has the advantage that it doesn't need to be kept chilled all day) tuna salad bell pepper slices rolled-up slices of meat, eg, deli turkey, by themselves, or rolled around a piece of string cheese. cold cooked bacon strips green beans in vinegar and oil dressing sugar-free cole slaw (I don't like it sweet anyway, so I just use mayo and vinegar) I have a sizable igloo-type lunch box with a freezer brick. |

Hi Kirk,
One of my favorite things to do (and it packs very well) is taking pepperoni slices and lay them on a paper towel. Stick them in the microwave on high. Keep a close eye on them. For about 25 slices, I usually set the time for 1.5min. All the fat cooks out of them and they become crispy. Yum. Pumpkin seeds are very low in carbs and are a new favorite. |

I send my DD to school with a cheese stick and a little 4 oz container of either blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries.
