Lettuce for insomnia

I've dug this link out its along the lines of the original one I read all those years ago. the other option is Melatonin in tablet form but I'm not sure if they are available in the US, I hope it helps you..

Lettuce - Natural Benefits and Curative Properties

Lettuce? interesting, thanks for the link I'll read it when I have a bit more time. I'm taking melatonin and Trazodone now. But sometimes it's like my mind fights sleep or something. I can't really explain it. It's so much better since I've been taking the melatonin and Trazodone this is the first long jag I've had since I've been on them, about 4 months now. Before that I'd be up 36-40 hours couple times a week.

I've got to find what it is in the lettuce that helps. Sure wouldn't hurt to munch on some lettuce before bed to help ensure a good night sleep, besides, I like lettuce...
Thanks so much for the info.

Morning all! I am finishing my menu from yesterday and will post today's menu later on....

D- we went to Olive Garden (they do have some LC choies) I had Chianti Braised Beef Short Ribs with Portabello mushroom risoto and fresh veggies

I left the risoto, ate the veggies and the beef and my salad, the wine has approx. 7.6 carbs for the amount used in the sauce and the recipe does not call for any thickeners so I am sure I did good with that choice.

I did not have any snacks because it was after 8 when we got home.

I'll post more later, have a great day all!

I hope everyone is doing well, I suffer bouts of depression even with medications and unfortunately mom's surgery has triggered one. So I haven't cooked much the last couple of days.

Breakfast: other half of the fritata from yesterday
Lunch: slept though
Dinner: gave in an ate cereal... I hate that.
I'll feel awful tomorrow but no more carbage!
Snacks: almonds, 2 string cheese sticks, 3 meat sticks. Yep that darn cereal triggered major hunger and cravings!

Menu 1/26/09-

B- sausage, egg & deluxe american cheese slice (1 of each)
Sn- none
L- 2 c. LC chicken salad
Sn- 1 string cheese & 1 beef stick
D- smoked sausage, mixed peppers & onions & a small salad w/ranch
Sn- SF pudding

I changed my Cauliflower Chowder recipe from yesterday:

1 bag of frozen cauliflower (chopped up), 1/4 red onion, 1/4 green pepper, 10 slices (thin sliced) deli ham, 1/2 lb deluxe amercian slices, 3 c. water (w/3T chicken soup base), 3T butter, 2T minced garlic, 2T thickener (if you want it, I used Soy flour but you can use other LC ones or none at all)- Heat large pan and put the butter in it, once butter is melted and bubbling, add onion, peppers & garlic, saute until translucent then add the soy flour (if using none skip this step), mix well and cook for a few minutes, then add the cauliflower and the water/chicken soup base, turn up to boiling, once it is rapidly boiling turn back down to med-low and add the ham, then the heavy cream and slowly add the cheese. Keep stirring until it the cheese is fully melted then turn down to low and simmer (lightly) for about 15 minutes (stir often or it will scorch in the pan). If you want yours thicker cut back on the water and add more cream or a bit more cheese. For spices I used; pepper, 3 or 4 shakes of hot pepper sauce, garlic & onion powder.

Thanks for the clarification, Kristee! I'm thinking of trying this today. I'm also thinking I might make fried catfish and calamari, and crab cakes. And maybe bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops. And maybe a crab, leek and spinach quiche. And Mexican egg muffins. Can you tell that I woke up hungry???

Actually, I'm trying to put together enough stuff for meals & snacks to last at least half a week.

So, anyway-- I have a question-- when you get compliments/ comments about your weight loss-- does it kinda weird you out? Do you find getting attention for how you look can act as a trigger for for a binge?

Here's another one-- when you find yourself losing dress sizes-- does it make any of you feel ...odd? I mean, there's a heady sense of elation in finding that you no longer wear size 18 jeans but a size 14 -- but when the clothes you have been wearing no longer fit, it almost seems like you are losing a part of yourself. Losing your identity. Which, I suppose, is true in a literal and figurative sense.

Hmmmmmmmnnnnn....

I'll post my menu after I've figured out what I'm cooking today.

Have a great day, y'all.

Hi everyone! thought I would join in here too! I'm doing atkins induction right now

Here's my menu for today (i try to pre-plan because I find I stick to it better that way)

B- coffee w/cream and splenda ; 3 eggs w/ a small amount of red pepper and green onion and 1/4 cup feta cheese
S - fresh mozzarella in olive oil with basil
L - salad with 2 cups romaine, one plum tomato, green onion, diced chicken, 1/4 cup blue cheese, olive oil and vinegar
S - i was going to have shrimp but I am seriously craving coffee for some weird reason so I may just go with that
D - philly steak with swiss cheese and 1/2 avocado

As of now, I've had 68 ounces of water but expect that to be well over 100 before the day is over.

Welcome kerbear!

Erica, I do know what you mean... I have dealt with all those issues throughout my whole journey and it has (many times) been the cause of my setbacks.... I get flustered and try to brush off compliments when I know I should flourish under them, I mean I worked hard for this and here I am trying to avoid people noticing, weird huh? I also get really nervous with every size I lose, sometimes I don't feel like I deserve it or I just get a kind of "unreal" feeling.... I see the scale, I see my new clothes size, but when I see me I still see the BIGGEST person around, nonsensical maybe but it's something I have not been able to work out yet.

My menu for today:

B- 2 eggs over easy, 2 sausage patties
Sn- SF Jello pudding
L- Grilled chicken salad w/shredded cheddar, bacon bits (real), 2 green pepper slices, sliced mushrooms & ranch
Sn- 2 string cheese sticks
D- Taco salad: taco seasoned hamburger, black olives, 1/4 chopped tomato, diced green onions, 3T guacamole (home made), 2T sour cream & ranch
Sn- 2 oz summer sausage & 2 oz colby cheese

Have a good day all!

Amiga, thank you so much. I do like my veggies.
I just made a new flaxbread yesterday with garlic infused olive oil, onion powder, freshly grated parm (not the canned stuff) and thyme. It will make great panni and I'm going to dry some for stuffing later on to go with roast chicken.
This morning breakfast is egg salad with plenty of dill
Lunch will be a ham and cheese (provolone) panni on garlic/parm flaxbread.
Dinner is porkchops (not sure yet how I'll fix them), chayote apples, and broccoli or salad haven't decided yet.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!
Vikki
