we can get ground chicken and ground turkey for .99 all the time..BUT - if you're watching the fat intake...CAUTION! These are very high in fat in most cases. We eat ground turkey breakfast sausage when the budget is limited. Walmart has the big 10lb bag of chicken quarters for about .39 a lb! Whole chickens are usually .89/lb. Typically I roast 2 at a time...OR I'll buy 2-4 and cut them up and package according to "parts". I also buy roasts and cut them into steaks. Same goes with pork loin (which I can get for 1.88/lb). I cut it into chops. We use a lot of eggs and cream cheese. I usually buy the 2 lb block of cheese and shred it myself - or cut into slices.

This is very true - I think with the ground turkey that comes in a chub, they grind the skin up with the meat. We use it for soup, with frozen green beans and chicken stock

They do? Thats actually REALLY good news to me. I was thinking ground turkey would be really lean and I like much more fat than that. I'll have to pick one of these up.

I think so. It has a lot of light colored specks in it, and is kinda greasy. Someone once told me it was skin.

The ground turkey from the meat dept of my stores are lean & more expensive but in the frozen foods freezers they have frozen rolls of ground turkey that are ususally around $1 each and not lean at all.

My breakfast consists of ground flax seed, home made almond milk, and apple butter. Every day. Flax seed is cheap at my local bulk food store.
Almonds can be purchased from eBay for $2.89 / lb. Almond milk costs me about $2.89 / gal.
Salad with home made bread or pita bread spread with Aldi's whipped cream cheese. Spinach dip stuffed into pita bread when I have spinach.
Meat and veg. for supper. My fiance is a hunter, so every year I get a fresh supply of venison. That's cheap.

See my later post about how and where to get free and cheap food.

If you search the sales papers and find things on sale wal-mart does price matching and you save a lot doing that and you dont have to use all that gas going around to different places trying to save! Wal-mart will sell it to you for what they are selling it for! That always helps me out! I also eat alot of green beans and beef! I also get the thin stakes when they are on sale at wal-mart and freeze them!

I'd love to find them at that price but the only seller I find with that price is one selling 50 lbs of them. For me, that's just too many almonds! Well, not really as I could eat them in short order but I don't need that many.

How are you all? Diet-To-Go is a popular diet delivery service that delivers food to dieters all over the United States. Meal are cooked in the Diet-to-Go kitchens and then quickly frozen and shipped out, so you are getting the food as fresh as possible. In this Diet-to-Go review, I'm going to review the low carb menu options.

Diet to Go has a few different menu plans. One is low carb and other two are low fat, one a traditional low fat plan and the other is vegetarian. I've tried the low fat plan previously, so I decided that this time I around I would order the low carb menu.

If you like a lot of egg dishes for breakfast, then you should enjoy the low carbohydrate plan. I really liked the various egg dishes, particularly the Cheese Omelet with Spinach and Salsa. The Spinach quiche was very good too. As you can guess, I really like spinach and eggs together!

I don't like "fake" bacon much, so I didn't really care a whole lot of the turkey bacon that was for breakfast. But that's about the only thing I didn't love.

Lunch and dinner entrees include lots of meats. There's steak, pork and poultry on the menu. I preferred steak and the pork dishes to the chicken. I found the roast chicken a little bit dry, but for the most part even the chicken dishes were quite good. Favorites here were the Chicken souffle and the Chicken fontina. Italian meatballs were delicious and so was the pork loin. The steak was tasty too, though not really the cuts I would buy in the supermarket myself. But then, you can't eat steak every day. It's too expensive.

After my week was up I definitely decided that I enjoyed the low carb menu more than the low fat one, but that is going to come down to your preference. I didn't miss the carbs too much and I much prefer having eggs for breakfast rather than cereals or bagels.

Overall, I think that Diet to Go is a pretty excellent option if you are looking for a diet delivery service. If you want to try it out yourself, be sure to get the current Diettogo coupons before you place your order.

Best Regards........

And how exactly is that cheaper? Or better still, how can you be sure what they put in your food?

The best and cheapest way to do low-carb is to cook for yourself- know exactly that you are eating nutritious whole foods.

I researched it. For the low carb plan, a full 7 day menu is almost $150. That's not cheap in my opinion.

The main reason to buy direct from the growers is that commercially sold almonds from California are now required to be irradiated. Some of the folks here have tried to sprout the almonds sold in stores & they are dead, but they are sold as raw almonds. I buy 20# once a year from seller gaspare5491 for that price (shipping included). I don't refrig or freeze them & they are fine from year to year.
