we can get ground chicken and ground turkey for .99 all the time..BUT - if you're watching the fat intake...CAUTION! These are very high in fat in most cases. We eat ground turkey breakfast sausage when the budget is limited. Walmart has the big 10lb bag of chicken quarters for about .39 a lb! Whole chickens are usually .89/lb. Typically I roast 2 at a time...OR I'll buy 2-4 and cut them up and package according to "parts". I also buy roasts and cut them into steaks. Same goes with pork loin (which I can get for 1.88/lb). I cut it into chops. We use a lot of eggs and cream cheese. I usually buy the 2 lb block of cheese and shred it myself - or cut into slices.

This is very true - I think with the ground turkey that comes in a chub, they grind the skin up with the meat. We use it for soup, with frozen green beans and chicken stock

I think so. It has a lot of light colored specks in it, and is kinda greasy. Someone once told me it was skin.

My breakfast consists of ground flax seed, home made almond milk, and apple butter. Every day. Flax seed is cheap at my local bulk food store.
Almonds can be purchased from eBay for $2.89 / lb. Almond milk costs me about $2.89 / gal. Salad with home made bread or pita bread spread with Aldi's whipped cream cheese. Spinach dip stuffed into pita bread when I have spinach. Meat and veg. for supper. My fiance is a hunter, so every year I get a fresh supply of venison. That's cheap. See my later post about how and where to get free and cheap food. |

If you search the sales papers and find things on sale wal-mart does price matching and you save a lot doing that and you dont have to use all that gas going around to different places trying to save! Wal-mart will sell it to you for what they are selling it for! That always helps me out! I also eat alot of green beans and beef! I also get the thin stakes when they are on sale at wal-mart and freeze them!

I'd love to find them at that price but the only seller I find with that price is one selling 50 lbs of them. For me, that's just too many almonds! Well, not really as I could eat them in short order but I don't need that many.

And how exactly is that cheaper? Or better still, how can you be sure what they put in your food? The best and cheapest way to do low-carb is to cook for yourself- know exactly that you are eating nutritious whole foods. |

I researched it. For the low carb plan, a full 7 day menu is almost $150. That's not cheap in my opinion.
