Thanksgiving

I looked around and if I overlooked it then I'm sorry. Just let me know.

I was wondering what everyone was eating for Thanksgiving. I know the usual turkey and stuff, but I was looking for some LC ideas that would keep me safe this year. Used to, I used the holidays as an excuse to fall off the wagon but I don't want that this year so I want to be prepare. So, I was just wondering what everyone else is having, give me ideas please.

The stuffing has always been my downfall but I found a recipe for LC sausage stuffing that uses cabbage instead of bread.

I think just knowing that I can eat all the turkey I want, and stay on plan is comforting somehow. Actually Thanksgiving seems like the easiest major holiday to low carb. So many good choices available.

First of all, I agree there are so many choices. Just no need to cheat. Secondly, produce that recipe

Here it is

Sausage Stuffing

Recipe By: Lisa Hunt
Categories: Beef/Pork

1 pound sausage -- seasoned
2 large onions -- finely chopped
3 stalks celery -- finely chopped (3 to 4)
2 tablespoons butter -- (2 to 4)
1 head cabbage -- finely chopped
15 ounces chicken broth -- canned
3 eggs -- beaten
Seasonings

This has all the taste of real stuffing, without the bread. You won't miss the bread and can "stuff" yourself as much as you like.

Saute your onion and celery in the butter. Add sausage, brown, crumbling the sausage finely. Let the oils and butter brown on the bottom of the pan to get that great carbonation flavor. Add seasonings you like such as thyme, oregano, pepper, salt, to taste. My sausage was preseasoned, so I just added pepper. Add cabbage and continue cooking. Add chicken broth to moisten as dish starts to get dry. I ended up using a whole can. Cook until cabbage is cooked and tender. Put in a 3-4 qt baking dish and add the eggs. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20-30 minutes. Actually we didn't have an oven when I made this and we cooked ours in the microwave for five minutes. You may need to adjust some things to get it the way you like dressing.

Awesome! I love dressing. Im working this year on Thanksgiving, and my family is all in Alabama, but I'm going to file that recipe away for a later date. Stuffing has always been my FAVORITE Thanksgiving food... rahhh. Luckily, though, I also loves me some turkey!

Here's what I'm doing. I'm going to be taking more food than anyone, I think, just so my husband and I can have something other than dry turkey!

Definitely:
the sausage stuffing (I don't know if that's the recipe in The Recipe Room I found or not)
Make-Ahead Mashed Faux-tatos--I'm taking one of the mashed cauliflower recipes and doctoring it up so it will taste like my mom's so-good-we-fight-for-the-leftovers recipe
Either the Aaaa-AWESOME pumpkin cheese cake or the Pumpkin Layer Cheesecake. I tried the second one last night--GREAT--and am trying the first one this weekend sometime. If you can't find any cream cheese at Trader Joe's it's because I bought it all. Maybe I'll take both.

Possibly:
My own gravy to put on things
Artichoke dip
Green bean casserole or green beans with sauted garlic and crushed almonds
Some almond milk and some syrups to make shakes or latte's with.

WOE: LC... again
last year I did my traditional from-scratch stuffing recipe- just used atkins bread for the bread cubes.

Mashed cauliflower in place of mashed potatos- with cheese and bacon pieces

LC Cheesecake

Gravy using a LC thickener

Davinci's Egg Nog syrup to mix with half'n'half for eggnog

There's a great thread in "Past Amazing Posts" that I got a lot of ideas from. Also, if you do a search for "thanksgiving" "christmas" or "holidays" you'll get a lot of stuff, too.

EVERY BIT of what I make will be low carb!

Brined, rotisseried turkey breast with pan gravy
Mashed caulitaters
Green bean casserole
Pearl onions in butter sauce
Cranberry/jalapeno sauce
Pecan pie with whipped cream
Key Lime pie with whipped cream
Pumpkin walnut bread

My Mom will be making stuffing and mashed potatoes for herself. IF I get around to making Kevin's bread (on the Recipes Help & Suggestions forum) I'll make some stuffing too.

My DH is already lamenting the fact that he won't get ENOUGH turkey sandwiches and I've not even bought the BIG turkey yet! LOL!

There are a TON of good recipes and ideas for Thanksgiving on the Recipes Help & Suggestions forum - take a peek....

Since it will just be my wife and me, I am making a simple meal of turkey stuffed with my l/c cornbread & pork rind stuffing, gravy, broccoli, and a new dessert that I have thought about, a low carb Cape Cod Cranberry Velvet Pie.

and no take home...

i love maintaing, would like to loose 15 more but no time limit. a pound
every 2 months is fine with me....
i am loving life, every minute of it... for the first time ever

size 8 are getting loose..... hope everyone makes it to where i am. it is awesome, and awesome feeling of loving yourself and not caring about what others think because you are loving yourself for the first time in life, and you are first now, not second... going out, having fun, but not going home with them, photo of guy below, a fire man was a total jerk.... would not keep his hands off of me... no second date with him... I dont go out alot, they are all the same, they only want sex and i want friendship, courting, calling on the phone, talking...
first dates you are not really yourself, second you are and like talk and listen. third well, i have never made it to the third date, but sex would come around the 5th or 6th lol, if and when and if not, i dont care, i am having too much fun with my new self.

thanksgiving food was great

thanksgiving was great

i am still eating cheese....
i lost another 4 pounds.
i went to the store and got a gorgous red top with glitter like stuff a size med and a pair of dress slacks, size 8 and they fit perfect... my goal of going from a size 28 to 8 has been accomplished.. but now i am going for a size 4-6 because i have a huge amount of fat on my stomach and my boobs are still a 38d and i still can not fit into my wedding dress that is from 1977 because the breast is lacking about 5 inches.

the pants are gorgous. it is silly to still see myself as fat, but when i can see the apron on my tummy it is so gross
also my thighs , oh well

i ate whatever i wanted thanksgiving, dressing, cramberry, gravy, potato salad, deviled eggs, yams, but no desert...
but i basically stick with meat/cheese/eggs most days.
i have never been under 140 except maybe when i was 8 or 9 years old and when i started out on this i just wanted to get under 200
so amazing... so so amazing...
