Fast food eating

When you are in a pinch and need to hit a drive thru, what do you get?

Bad planning day for me today. I've got to leave work at lunchtime and will have to eat on the run. Thanks!

I LOVE WENDY'S ... they affirm my desire to be considered a member of the larger society!!!

I can order a Value Meal!!!

I order a grillled chicken sandwich with a caesar side salad and an unsweetened iced tea. I toss out the bun (I like to order it with the bun so I can go through the act of tossing it out myself!).

Go at it with a fork and a knife ... it is really yummy!

I eat there (or through there as I drive by ... this kinda meal you gotta eat while parked though, I am an Insurance Agent afterall! BE SAFE!) ... sorry, I eat there at least once a week ... ahem, usually more than that.

Wendy's is the BOMB! I love you guys! My kids are not big fans of their pedestrian chicken nuggets: but they love having mandarin oranges and milk in a "happy" meal ... so I take them there if we hit up a fast food restaurant.

Okay, so I have an update ...

Today I went to Qdoba (a competitor of Chiptole or Moe's Burritos) and had a HUGE grilled chicken taco salad (without the tortilla bowl, of course) on a bed of romaine lettuce with fresh salsa, baja ranch, sour cream and shredded cheese .... TO DIE FOR!

Another FABULOUS salad is at Penn Station Subs (one of my favorite restaurants!). They will make their subs into a salad ... hot cheesesteak is so good in a bowl! I usually have mustard and mayo on the side as dressing ... and that wonderful malt vinegar! WOW!

I also do the same thing at Subway, making my favorite sandwich pasttime into a salad ... and use condiments as the dressing. I get tired of the same old packaged dressings!

At Chipotle I get the burrito bol, and have them substitute romaine lettuce for the beans & rice. Double meat, double cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Yummo!

I am a Chipotle freak. Love their salad, with sour cream and salsa for "dressing." Mmmmmmmmm . . . might have to go there this weekend.

Otherwise, I'm with Jen . . . Wendy's value meal, sans bun, with caesar salad. Had this last night!

I love Wendy's too! Their value is such a well kept secret. You can get a lot of healthy food for cheap that way.

I really like McDonald's Bacon Ranch salad. I usually pick out the carrots, but everything else in it is OK. On their website, it says that it has 12g total carbs, 3g fiber (so 9 net carbs for those of you who count that way). I don't use salad dressing, so I'm not sure about the ranch that comes with it. It is a big salad, if I'm not too hungry I can eat half for lunch and save the rest for a snack later.

Resurrecting this thread for a busy time of year

I could remember having read this about a month ago; sure enough, here it is!

Even though QDoba started here and I know one of the VP's, I have only eaten there once, Loooong ago, when there wasn't much on the menu! So I was pleasantly surprised to see it. I have been used to fast food meaning a meat patty with mustard, or plain roast beef, being my only choices (four years ago that's about what I could find when out). I can't get the download menu to download so I'll just see what I get when I get there. No Chipotle on the way, or a burrito bol sounds great, too.

Tuscany: They will make any burrito NAKED (without the tortilla) in a bowl ... or try their TACO SALAD NAKED (without the crispy bowl). I love QDOBA!!! I am from Louisville, so ditto on knowing those who started it!

Jimmy John's

I love Jimmy John's sandwich shop. I get the "unwich" which is a sandwaich made with a lettuce wrap instead of bread. They also have a great website http://www.jimmyjohns.com that shows you nutritional information allowing you to pick and choose what you had on your sandwich to get an accurate count (go to the menu, then click on nutrition, then healthy options).

My favorite fast food for low carb is Hardees. They have the low carb burger and low carb chicken club but I also like to get their big hot ham n cheese and tossing the bun...yum

Wow..ya'll have given me some great tips. I had always stuck with a Jack in the Box Jumbo Jack and tossed the Bun. It's on their value menu for only a $1.40. I went to Mamacitas for a birthday lunch with my co-workers friday. I ordered the Taco Salad. I was sooooo good with the queso and guac...but it did come in the bowl. Didn't eat the Tortilla bowl....but did take a little piece. Didn't really enjoy that. I was the only one that wasn't digustingly full.

I totally went off the deep end today. Had a date and showed off my culinary skills. Although I didn't eat a lot...I'm definitely regretting it....but hey....there's a new day tomorrow!

I've been avoiding fast food like the plague, but I did go to Wendy's the other night after a long day at work and had the Taco Salad (with just the salad and the chilli - no nacho chips or dressing). It was soooo good.

for a simple burger - Jack in the box sells the Large hamburger patty for $.75 each. much cheaper than buying a whole burger when your going to toss the bun anyway.

BTW their blackbeans have nothing added. I asked to see a can once and just plain ole black beans for those that eat them. Also the spoons they use are 3oz if anyone is curious about portion sizes.

I eat at Wendy's all the time...it's either the chicken caesar salad, no croutons, or a jr. hamburger (no bun, or toppings of course), I don't get the cheeseburger anymore, cause basically it's 1 carb and then 1 protein, they cancel each other out...basically the bacon too which sucks! If I'm feeling like I can have a bit of a carb day...I get the chicken blt salad, (just that dressing is higher in carbs), but no croutons.

Yup! I get the jr bacon cheeseburger. If I am driving, I put the meat on top of the lettuce leaf, then use the lettuce leaf as a bun so that i am not holding a burger in my hand!

I love, love, love Outback Steakhouse for eating out-- I usually get the Outback Special steak w/ brocolli & salad, or the Alice Spring chicken w/ brocolli & salad.

For fastfood I like
1) Hardees- low carb burgers (hamburgers w/o bun, wrapped in lettuce)
2) Quiznos- cheese steak sub w/o bun
3) Chick-Fi-La- grilled chicken sandwich w/o bun and extra lettuce to wrap it
