WOE: staying under 20 carbs per/day
Start Date: Feb 07, 2005
Can Someone share a good induction menu with me?? Please!

I have been on this WOE for a month on Monday. I did'nt really do Atkins, but I've been staying under 20 carbs a day. I've read so many posts on induction and Ketosis and I want to do the induction phase. Here's a normal day of eating for me lately:

B) 2-3 pieces bacon, 1 egg fried or
2 Sausage patties and 2 hard boiled eggs
1 liter Water

1 cup Green tea with Splenda

S) String cheese

L) Lettuce with 1/2 cup cucumber and Olive oil vinegrete dressing
Maybe some shredded cheese.
Somtimes Tuna with Mayo
Broccoli and Caulifower 1/2 cup each.
These are just some things I may have, It's not all at one time.

S) String Cheese or SF Jello

D) Chicken breast with Green beans or Broccoli and Cauliflower 1/2 cup each- not all at the same time.
1 burger no bun wuth teaspoon mustard
boneless pork with veggies

That's the way my meals look, I was just wondering what to add or I'm thinking of induction. I am doing well on this WOE, but I feel I want to lose more.

Also, I am going to a baby shower tomorrow and I know there will be a really good desert there as her cousins BF owns a gourmet bakery, so I'm planning on not cheating, but if I decide htat I've been good and have a small treat, how bad would that be?? I have really good willpower, so I know that thais one time won't send me off into wanting more sweets. I was just wondering if I decide to give into the sweets, will that make me gain a lot or should I be ok? I know it's a crazy question, but I've been thinking about it, I've been around sweets alot in the past few weeks and have not indulged.

Thank YOu!!

Kristy

What ever you do - DON'T indulge in sweets!! It is just not worth it!!

Try putting all your food into Fitday and look at the numbers. Looks to me like you might be eating too much meat at dinner but I'm not sure of the amounts so maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks Heather! Actually I just showed what meats I may have, I only eat one of them at dinner though, I would'nt have all at one sitting....eek, that made me sound really piggy. I was just showing examples. I am setting my mind to NOT indulge in those sweets tomorrow!!

Here is a great recipe site. She even has induction menus already planned out and loads of LC recipes, some for induction and some for OWL.

Kristy - I basically ate the following menu two years ago and lost to my goal in 6 weeks. My starting weight was similar to yoursMaintained until fall of 2004.

B 2 scrambled eggs cooked with Pam
S HB egg
L loose leaf lettuce, cucumber with 2 T full fat dressing (measured, it is not much) 3 oz chicken breast (weighed)
S HB egg
D 3 oz chicken breast (weighed) with 1 cup coooked greens (mostly mustard greens)
S HB egg or SF jello(plain)

For some reason a boiled egg fills me up. I can only eat one and sometimes one is too much.

I don't really see anything wrong with your menu but, some people can't eat stuff like sugarfree jello without having a slower weight loss (you'd think it wouldn't matter with the amount of calories it has!). But maybe that's your problem.

Also, some people (like ME!) have a hell of a time losing when eating cheese. Having a candida yeast problem can be the cause of this, and it's not all that uncommon.

So, I'd suggest, try one week with no jello and no cheese and see how it goes, add them back in one at a time to see if either is stalling you?

Here is another menu, a sample from Atkins magazine.. that Kimmer frequently refers to

B - Tomato & Avocado omellete
L - Broiled salmon, small salad, oil & vinegar dressing
D - Roasted chicken, spinach satueed with garlic in olive oil

Your menu looks OK.. I would take one week, measure portions and use FitDay, to fine tune your carb and portion control.. For the 20 pounds to goal.. most people find the need to watch calories as well as carbs..

Regular exercise, proper rest, water consumption and proper vitamin supplementation also help.

Best Wishes.

I always measured my veggies during induction and really stuck with it. One cup of loose lettuce is not very much so its easy to go over board. I would also watch your mayo and dressings, it can add up. I followed the book pretty closely, it was my bible. I read it three times in one month. I was so scared of doing it wrong that I refered to it all the time. I did not count calories or measured my protein, only my carbs, and I think that helped me stay focused because if I was hungry I would eat some protein or 1oz of cheese, I also ate my chicken with the skin which was very satisfying to me at the time, of course I don't eat the skin now, unfortunately i've cut back on my dietary fat, which you will do as you progress along.

But overall your menu looks good, just measure the veggies.

good luck
