MIDNIGHT MUCHIE MONSTERS

Do you do good all day long only to find that after dark when the kids go to bed & the TV's on out of nowhere the Midnight Munchie Monster strikes? Once the monster has you in his claws is it hard for you to break free?

Then this challenge is for you!

The rules are simple:
1. No eating (not even legal snacks) after 8 pm
2. Hold yourself accountable by posting a daily report on your
victory/defeat over the monster

So please join us & maybe together we can slay the monster for good!!!

GETTING REAL AND EXERCISE CHALLENGE

This thread is for anyone who is "stuck"!! Or not exactly doing what you should be doing, in the way of portion control, counting carbs, or eating to many "legal" foods or eating "illegally". If you are ready to kick it up a notch, with some tough love, and are ready to be held accountable for what you put in your mouth with the added bonus of an exercise challenge then this thread is for you.

We will NOT be focusing on the scale. It will be up to you when you want to weigh. This will not be a daily "weight loss posting" thread. We will list daily menus, along with portion sizes and our exercise routines. ACCOUNTABILITY is what this challenge is all about. We will get in your face and hold you accountable.

Mondays are designated as "MUGSHOT Mondays." We will post pics of........whatever! Family, kids, pets, new car, you beating the crap out of a cement block, new hair do, your progress pics, etc..........something that you want the world to see.

TALLY TUESDAY!! This is the day (for those of us that are doing it on a weekly basis) that we will be moving our gem-stepping-stones up, down or keeping them the same. This is a great tool to use to help keep you motivated and accountable. Just please be sure to list your goals so that we will be able to see them and to help keep you honest!!! Good luck and hope that a diamond is in your near future (and I don't mean a black diamond, either)!!!! **Please see the gemstone post for further explaination, or just feel free to ask if you have more questions.**

On Wednesdays we will have "WHOO-HOOO Wednesdays". That will be the one day during the week where we will take the time to post our pounds and inches lost, drop in dress sizes, surpassed our mini-goals or whatever WHOO-HOOO you might want to share. We will pat each other on the back, hug and kiss then we will get our butts back in gear. KICKING THE BOOTY TO THE CURB!!!!

From henceforth Friday's will now and forever be known as "FITNESS FRIDAY'S" We will share some exercise idea's, ask questions, answer them, and state our weekly goals for the following week. AND....This is when we will be held ACCOUNTABLE for that weeks exercise goals. Did you accomplish what you set out to do for that week? What more could you have done? It might be helpful to have correct measurements of all of your problem areas so that you can see the results of your hard work. We will no longer be couch potato's. Got your running shoes on, is your treadmill warmed up, are your weights loaded, locked and ready? OK ~ Ready......Set........Go...............SHOW ME THE SKINNY!!!!

Please join in and offer up any suggestions that you would like to see on a thread. We are always up for anything and will try it once.

WHAT WOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO DO IF YOU KNEW THAT YOU COULD NOT FAIL?

WORKOUT WAGON CHALLENGE!!!

Havin' a hard time getting going with a workout routine, or were you once diligent about getting regular exercise in, but are now finding that more and more time is passing between workouts? Then you've found a great challenge for support and motivation--the Workout Wagon!

Thus far the plan is to start a new thread each week where members can pop in as often as they feel the need to give and receive fitness support...or just a plain old kick in the @$$ to get off the computer and off doing something a bit more active. Part of losing weight and getting healthy is eating right, but the other half of the equation is getting fit...this is where that happens!

REMEMBER: Dieting makes one look good in clothes, but exercise makes one look good NAKED!

So let's get movin'!

Well, this is the thread for you

You can be on whatevuh low carb plan you want -- I don't care

you can post when you want -- I promise I won't do a search on your name if you don't post often

and I promise if I just happen to see you posting somewhere else I will not get all mad and send you a pm

need motivation? you can get that on the "no challenge" thread

have a bad week? so what -- just jump back in when you want

not on any timeline for when you need to lose this weight? this is the thread for you

do you accept responsibility for how your plan is working? this is the thread for you

do you jump around and test the various low carb plans? this is the thread for you

do you exercise a lot? this is the thread for you

don't exercise a lot? this is the thread for you

do you just want a place to post every now and then, but you just don't want to join a challenge? this is DEFINITELY the thread for you?

just jump in when you want

Peace

New challenge coming soon....a few of us in different stages have been talking about various goals.

Are you:
In induction? OWL? maintenance? Not sure which challenge to join?

If you want to be held accountable, just tell us what for:
water intake? exercise? your eating habits?

For those in weight loss mode, we'll judge our successes with 2 pounds a week goals.

Come on in! Meet you on the challenge board! (Accountability)

Meet you on the challenge board! (Accountability)

From above, the new name is

"WHATEVER IT TAKES" weekly challenge. 2 pounds per week.

In different phases? On different plans?

We'll do "whatever it takes" to get there!

Hope to see you soon!

Divine Secrets of the Low Carb Losers

[COLOR=Navy]***~*Divine Secrets of the Low Carb Losers*~***

This challenge is for anyone who wants to stick with induction, or very low carbs (< 20) until we hit goal. Were here to support one another, chat, lend a helping hand, and have fun during these two weeks. It is not limited, however, to two weeks. While we are interested in losing weight , were also interested in gaining friendships and growing as a group , while motivating one another to good health and beautiful bodies!~

WELCOME ALL!!![/COLOR]

The SLIMMER BY SUMMER (2006) CHALLENGE

This is a brand new thread for people with 50 or more pounds to lose and want to be...

[COLOR=Navy]SLIMMER BY SUMMER of 2006. [/COLOR]

A fun way to get motivated and realize that [COLOR=DeepSkyBlue]we are not alone [/COLOR] in this new WOE! There's a lot we can learn from eachother!

We also invite people who are nearing their goals of 50+ pounds lost to join in and contribute any kinds of advice, tips and tricks, or recipes that helped you achieve your goals!

We will set smaller monthly goals...[COLOR=Red] and weigh in will take place at the beginning of every week (Sunday or Monday).[/COLOR] Other than that....let's try to stay off the scales! I know I can easily get addicted to the numbers on that scale every day and I get so disappointed if I don't lose or even go up..

By setting realistic and reasonable goals and keeping accountable to eachother with encouragement, fun new recipes, and just some great relationship building, will you accept the challenge to become...

WOE: Very Low Carb ~
"2 By Tuesday" Challenge

This challenge originated because my boss challenged me to lose 39 pounds by June 25, 2006. If I met that goal, my reward would be $500.00. If i didn't meet goal he'll receive $500.00. I took the challenge. If I lose 2 pounds a week (which is very obtainable) I can reach meet that goal!

So I decided to challenge myself and anyone that wants to join me....2 POUNDS PER WEEK! Every Tuesday we will weigh in and report our losses! We are striving for 2 pounds lost by every Tuesday.

This challenge will also challenge us to either start exercising to see the weight come off or to step up our exercise programs to help the weight come off even faster!

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN ~ LOOK FORWARD TO ENCOURAGING YOU AS WE ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER!

This is NOT to take away from the wonderful Christian groups we have. As I am a member of them too and LOVE them! This is just another special place to go to discuss our special devotions we have as Catholic Christians, ie...Sacraments, Holy Days, Mass Daily Readings, Devotions to The Blessed Mother Mary & the Saints.

As a Catholic woman I have special devotions to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus, the Blessed Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Therese of Lisiux. I also pray the Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and partake in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharistic Adoration).

I think this would be a wonderful group to start. I'm sure we have many Catholics whom would love to embrace their faith while losing on this WOE/WOL.

Strayed Catholic? That's OK!!! Come on and join us!

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Melissa
[COLOR=DarkOrange][COLOR=DarkOrange]Hello Melissa[/COLOR] When I saw this I thought How Cool!! I'd love to talk to other Catholics about low carbing it!

I am doing Adkins, and so far so good! I have 2 childern a 5 yr old, and a 2 month old!!

Hope to hear from you! I also am involved in my church, I use to volunteer an hour at the Adoration Chapel, but with the new baby I only go when able to, I cannot go at a specific time every week. I am a Eucharistic Minister, a lector, and I try to participate in weekday mass and pray the Rosary[/COLOR].

I am starting a new challenge group for us 'sistahs' to come and chat about our low carb lifestyles and challenges. Professionals, non-professionals, stay-at-home moms, single, married, divorced, widowed, tall, short, or whatever...come on in!!!

Being a woman of color, I grew up eating the high-fat high-carb foods that the family ate. If I had only know about Atkins then, I wouldn't have had to give up all of the good things I liked about our eating choices. I could have cut back on the breads and sugars and sweets and still had the rest of the foods that I love and I now eat today.

Also, we have the weightloss issue as far as our body type is concerned. Since most of us have been 'blessed' with ample hips and rears, most of the clothes in the stores, even the large and plus sized ones, are not made for our shapes. I know if I go into Lane Bryant, I wear a size 18, I can not fit into their 18's. If I go a size larger, large enough to fit my hips and rear, then it is too big in the waist. So you see, we have a bit more to lose than most women due to the way we are 'built'. (...she's a brick....house!)

Anyway, I just thought this would be a place to keep in touch with each other's lc-ing progress, talk about current events that affect us and just life in general as women of color.
[/color]

[color=orange]Here are just a few rules and tips to help out our members:[/color]

[color=purple]JOIN US!
Wherever you are in this WOE, we’d love to have you join us. All newbies are welcome. We also welcome those who are more experienced at low carbing.
  • If you'd like to join our group, simply put "SIGN A SISTAH UP!" at the top of your post. Include your stats, too (EX: 178/142/125). We'll add you to the rankings and our new members listing just as soon as possible.
  • You will be placed in the rankings based on your current stats (how much toward your weight goal or measurement you’ve achieved).
  • Post your stats every Weigh-Day Monday.
  • Each time you pass a 10% milestone, you get a promotion and can add the new rank insignia to your siggy!
  • Feel free to jump in and post at any time. Nothing is off-topic for this group![/color][color=red](Just keep it 'clean'; ie. no profanity, of course. )[/color][color=purple]
  • Be sure to read the section MESSAGE TO MEMBERS below, it will give you other important info you need. Thanks for joining!
[/color]

[color=red]MESSAGE TO MEMBERS[/color]
  • [color=purple]Every Monday, please remember to post your current stats at the [/color][color=red]TOP[/color] [color=purple]of your post. We don't use the stats in your signature because we don't know how often you update them, so just put it at the TOP You don’t have to list pounds or percentage lost or rank. We calculate those from your stats.
  • Chat is every Tues. and Sat. starting at 10:00pm Eastern and going until -?. The password will be PM'd to you. You can not enter the 'Sistahs On Atkins' room without it!
  • To keep our rankings current, if you do not report for weigh-ins for THREE consecutive weeks (unless we know you’re on vacation, or otherwise indisposed) your name will be removed. If you want to reenlist please PM Msparisbound. You’ll be recognized as a reenlistee and put back on the listing at your previous rank or the rank indicated by your current stats.
  • Get the logo!If you want the logo in your signature just copy and paste the following line to your siggy:[/color]
    [[color=red]*[/color]IMG]http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Aug/20038313228553881494611.jpg[[color=red]*[/color]/IMG][color=purple]
IMPORTANT!!!: Make sure to remove the [/color][color=red]*[/color][color=purple] in the IMG tags at the beginning and end! They are only there to keep the BB from reading the line as an image in this posting. Also, don't split it into two lines because it looks too long; it must all be kept together without spaces.
  • Show us your picture! If you need help with this just PM Msparisbound or anyone of us on this thread and we will be glad to help you out.
  • Submit your bio and pics to our 'Sistahs' Website! Check out the bios already posted to get an idea of what they include. Then, PM whatever bio info you want to share to Msparisbound. She’ll get it on the 'Sistahs' Website as soon as she can. [/color]

Here's a repost of the "Losing Excuses and Cabooses" Challenge started 1/08/07. It is still open to anyone who wishes to join.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all...

I posted a challenge last week under another thread which was very successful for those of us who participated.

I wanted to post another here in the main lobby. I know there's an area in the exercise board, but hoped to get some new people here in the challenge and especially those of us who can only focus on a week at a time.

My goal is for this to be a constanly running challenge....

For Right now this will be for the week of Jan 8th and will end Jan 15. A minimum of 30 minutes walking (this can also include folks who do not have a treadmill... so you can participate too).

The name of this challenge: Losing Excuses and Cabooses.

Come and Join in!!! Let's have some fun!!

Maintaining a LC Lifestyle

Hi everyone. I just started a challenge for anyone in the pre-maintenance and maintenance phase of their way of eating. I hope it will be a place for maintainers to find support and share their tips for success.

The group follows the Atkins Fat Fast and Modified Fat Fast regimens as outlined in DANDR. http://atkinscenter.com/Archive/2001/12/21-237659.html

We have been able to expand the menus from those originally mentioned in the book since we're lucky enough to have several members who are excellent at preparing recipes that are high in fat.

Induction the healthy way

Sure I want to go Atkins, but not to an early grave. I want to eat healthy proteins. Any suggestion?:

Generally, this is what many LCMWers plan for:
  • Carbs: <20 (some subtract fiber, some don't)
  • Protein: 80-100 grams
  • Fat: Just enough to cook with (dressing, butter, olive oil), but not slathering it on food
  • Fake Foods: avoid as much as possible (shakes, candy, bars)
Exercise is very important for weight loss and many LCMWers are exercise maniacs!

There is no minimum calorie level, but as you watch the fat you're using, the calories naturally drop!

That's our program is a nutshell -- short, sweet and results guaranteed!
