Getting Through the Holidays Challenge

I am starting this challenge for all of us who need the extra support through the holidays... we have approximately 90 days until January 1st to support each other and give suggestions and recipes to get us through the wonderful get togethers that we just can't avoid. What we CAN do is control what we put into our bodies by preparing our own foods for the meals and avoiding those that we know will just make us feel bad, both physically and emotionally.
There is no judgements or criticism allowed, if you have a bad day, come and talk it out.. we have all been there and it helps to be honest and have the support of people who understand. What we are trying to do is not let one off plan choice run away with us for the whole season!!

You got that right!!

At the beginning of Sept I went vegan. Don't have cravings at all. Like at all. I did it for health reasons. I have some sort of inflammatory thing going on but not a diagnosis yet. They thought Rheumatoid Arthritis but turns out it is not that. Anyway in all my research for natural ways to help with inflammation I found vegan/vegetarian to be the way to go.

In a week I was already feeling TONS better!! With the added side effect that I have no cravings, no headaches, don't need any caffeine any more, lost 13 lbs last month, and can eat a ton! So I am super stoked!

I am trying to go 100 day fully or as fully raw as I can. Which takes me to Dec 27th. Works perfect for this challenge as well!

can we take a minute to recognize how hard it is going to be working in an office environment over the next 90days...*sigh* my office celebrates something every week already...next week they are celebrating and doing a "desk service" so you call this number and order whatever sugar filled item you want and someone will bring it to your desk so you don't have to get up....gees lol

Can I join too? Just lost my 30th lb. though it might be partially due to being sick most of the week. Haven't been able to eat low-carb, but have not been very hungry either, and have been drinking lots of water. Put my starting weight at 261, though it might be too "good" of a weight.

I agree about all kind of temptations in the office over the next 3 months. It's going to be hard to resist some of them.

Hey everyone! Glad to have so many people in the battle!

Ashryan.. that sounds just awful!! Can you call it in and have it delivered to someone else? Perhaps tell a good coworker you're sending it to her and she can take it home to her ( kids, hubs.. ) etc?

Congrats on the 30 lbs Sk8termom!! Thats a lot of weight! Remember that when the office temptations are all about!

Lotus.. I have arthritis/inflammation in my joints ( started in my early 30's) and I find when I eat carbage I hurt like the devil, but have never tried to go meatless. My heart is a vegetarian, but alas.. my mouth loves meat!

Have a great friday everyone.. don't let the weekend undo the weeks hard work. If you can take some time and make a dish that you can eat through the week next week. I personally have been enjoying a small piece of Jodys Pumpkin Bake w/ some SF whipped cream on top after dinner or as a meal. It just makes me feel so spoiled and is the perfect flavor for this time of year!

My 6 months anniversary of making goal is today.....Ive lost somewhere near 10 more lbs than I planned!....still consistent with exercise ...eating wobbles occasionally but accountability like this challenge helps a lot.....thanks to all of you!

Ladies!! Hope everyones weekend is going well!

We went out for an amazing dinner last night for MIL's B-day. Back on track today though! We are also going on a little day trip tomorrow so I just googled places to eat so I knew right where to go where there were options on the menu for me!

Hello, I'm feeling very frustrated tonight. My back is in absolute agony, I am struggling to go up and down stairs. I thought losing 30 lbs would make me feel better, but it isn't helping. Then again, maybe it would be worse 30 lbs larger.

I was ill with a flu bug these last few days so spent some time in bed. I think it was just too much on my back. I can't even sit in a normal chair, the one I have now is high enough that I'm almost leaning against it instead of sitting. But it feels better.

Sk8termom!! I have a terrible back... I am so sorry you are feeling badly! My poor husband and I went through 3 dining room tables as I searched for the perfect chair!! I have slept in the recliner for 2 years now,.. hope you feel better soon! Stay on track, I do believe we would hurt worse with more weight pulling on our backs! I find myself hurting too when I stay lying down too long.

Oh... and back pain is AWFUL. I got a compression fracture in Feb. I also slept in a recliner once I was off the pain medication. Inactivity makes it worse. Move if you can!
