I've been dieting hard and haven't cheated or missed a workout for the past 2 weeks, and my weight is all over the board.

I'm doing 3 weight training sessions and 3 hours of hard cardio per week. I started at 2,200 calories per day, and now I have reduced to 2,000 calories per day. I am zig zagging my calories, intermittent fasting, and carb cycling (low carb on rest days, high carb on training days).

It seems that at some calorie level, the weight has to start coming off. The problem is that I don't seem to have a reliable measurement tool. My pants aren't getting looser, the mirror doesn't look any better, my body fat meter is all over although it seems to be slowly tracking downward, and my scale is all over.

I'm hanging in there, though. I'm going to continue either lowering calories and/or adding more cardio sessions until my body gives in.

My weight and blood sugar have fluctuated for the last 3 months and I put on almost 20 pounds from sheer lack of attention..and bad eating. Got the big 50 coming up in late October..time to get busy about getting back to 220's

Hey Guys....Checking in after a long time away from the boards. I have been doing OK with the eating and exercise, but not completely on spot. I have been drinking some beers here and there on the weekends and that is definitely not on plan.
I plan on posting my numbers next Monday to see where I am. I started tracking my food on an app so I will see exactly where I am at since I have been slacking as of late.

Peace!

Sept 4th - 184

goal is 170, got a bet on with another guy at one of my jobs, hes also a low carber and knows what hes doing, but i aint gonna let him beat me,

first day today i did induction, save for some no-sugar chocolate to get me through, already feel better got food ready for tomorrow day and dinner is chicken wings, gonna kill this induction thing this time around,

gonna go for 10 lbs in 2 or 3 weeks, gonna be hard, but im willing to give it a go, also doing exercise everyday with the daighter, today was a stretch one, i actually did sweat a lot

harley, bulk good to see u,

welcome Larry stick around dude, tell us whats working for ya and whats not

forgot to mention, i have this test coming up on october, im not sure how low carb will affect that, it usually makes me as dumb as a mushroom, i may have to forego the last 2 weeks before to study like crazy if i dont retain or understand during induction

So I kicked this off by starting a fat fast yesterday and this morning my morning blood sugar was down 30 points from yesterday so that and the 3.4 pounds was a good first day.

NFL Football Season is finally here.

Nice work Larry.....my blood sugar really stabilizes by keeping the carb levels down. I have successfully gotten off all meds going on 7 years now simply by dropping weight and watching the carb levels. I still want to drop another 20 - 30 lbs, but not being on meds is awesome.

Keep working hard!

Peace!

Sticking with the fat fast for a few more days anyway. Hoping it helps the gastritis I got from taking advil when recovering from a broken leg.

Good to see all the activity on here! Welcome aboard Larry.

I started the week great and then had social events and a hectic schedule that put me home late and eating fast. Today will be another odd-ball day, tomorrow another social event. Needless to say, it is hard to keep on track.

Hi guys, just joining up after lurking for a while. I need to be accountable. I am getting close to my goal weight, but have really been having a rough week (up 5 pounds!) with emotional eating.

On plan starting today, and I will be checking in daily to keep myself rolling!

Thanks guys..good to be here. Have been looking for a low key place to post for some accountability reasons without the internet drama and garbage usually found on forums these days.

@ harley - Good to hear about the medications. Doc put me on 500mg of metformin once a day so I took that for 4 months while I did research on how to come off of it. Took my last pill 6 days ago and my morning BS blew up to 120's so it was time to get a little more serious about getting it under control if I want to stay off of them. Can't stand taking pills and won't as long as I can put in any work on my part to control the issues and hopefully eliminate the need any.

9/6 - 270.2

Fat fast again. Will be adding a walk of a couple of miles starting today. I was 313 on Jan 1 and should be farther in my goal but I'm a fan of Rum and Diet Coke as well as high gravity beers so I'm laying off all of that for a bit. I find it pretty easy to eat well and exercise when I'm not enjoying libations. BS reading this morning was 86 so not bad. My goal is to get my A1c down under 5 and keep it there.

Ate clean yesterday and went down a pound, so that was good. Need to stay focused and not eat when I get bored. Going to try and walk a few miles today to get a little exercise.

Mister mirror - sweet, I mean greasy avatar. It is making me hungry for bacon. Walking was the key for me a few moons ago. Get and stay walking - advice I myself need to take.

Larry - I have personally known many that after regular activity and eating low glycemic foods came off the meds. Looks like you are on the right track. Down a sizeable amount since Jan. 1. Full respect!

This weekend was a disaster on my end. Had every opportunity to eat highly refined carbs and took every one. Today was much better. Going to work on my will power this week as there will not be the same opportunities.

I am setting an accountability goal:

1. Post everyday - no matter what. I have a smart phone so Internet access is 99% likely.
2. Cut 0.5 lbs per day on average. I will bank any overages to put against slow/gain days.

I calculated 108 days puts me on goal weight. I know I am unlikely to hit goal because the metabolism becomes very resistant when I get around the 200 mark. It seems like a doable goal though so long as my will power not to over-do-it stays strong and my organization allows for 30 minutes of physical activity.

Great to see the posts on this thread! I am real excited to have the forum active again after a long summer break. Makes me want to post a emoticon.....not really.

Day 0

Exercise: Power 90 1-2 Sweat. Pretty out of shape. Had to rest sore muscles a few times, but they were short rests.

Food: Pretty good, but not induction.

Weight: Checking in morning. Was 238 on Saturday AM.

9/8 - 269.2..same as yesterdays weigh-in. didn't eat a lot yesterday but what I did eat was protein like eggs and avocado with sour cream for breakfast and then some grilled steak with buttered mushrooms for mid-day. clearly was over on the protein.

on the plus side, my BS reading this morning was 81. back to focusing on the fat fast today

Kept it simple with eggs and meat yesterday. Got in a 2 mile walk. Slowly letting go of the 5 pounds I put on last week. Really hoping to hit 170 by the end of September. I know I need more exercise.

Wow, love seeing all the activity on here!

Last week: 213 pounds
This week: 212 pounds

My weight over the past few weeks has been 215, 210, 213, 212. I figured that my weight would go from 210 to 209, but I suppose I should say that I have dropped 3 pounds in 3 weeks, and that the 210 was an anomaly.

On the positive side, my strength has been rising on all of my lifts. It's not astronomical, but I have been gaining about 10 pounds of strength per lift per week, so that's something.

I have been alcohol free for 3 weeks now, also, which is no doubt helping my cause. My job has been super stressful lately, and I've been battling a lot of depression. I usually turn to alcohol when that happens, but I've forced myself to stay clean.

Huff, no matter how conditioned I've gotten in my life, I was never able to get through that P90 arm and knee raising routine in the beginning without stopping. That's a pretty good cardio workout, although it's pretty brutal on the calves and ankles.

Larry, that's a great blood sugar number.

Mistermirror,

What's your target weight?

I'm shooting for 170, but I may change that based on how I feel once I get there. I've lost some muscle while losing the weight these past few months, I need to start working on that, but I've wanted to wait until I hit my target weight first.

I am probably too focused on the scale, but it keeps me going.

Holy Cow! I thought this thread was on life support. Welcome (back), dudes!

CB - congrats on skipping the booze. I haven't had any in a while, but whenever I do, it always lubricates the slide into the nearest pile of carbage.

Weighed 190 this morning, been hanging around there for the last few weeks. 15 pounds above the arbitrary BMI line between obese and overweight. Weighing every few days has been all I've done about it. Off to fry up some bacon and eggs.

I understand that all too well. Initially, I went on a pure low carb diet and lost from around 220 to 178 pounds. I got really skinny, and I lost most of my strength and muscle. For example, my working weight on bench dropped from 260 to 160. I was squatting somewhere in the 300's and dropped to squatting around 150-180. I was shooting for visible abs, and although I was the leanest I've ever been, I didn't get there.

My workouts remained intense, so I'm pretty sure that wasn't the issue. I got off low carb and gained most of the weight back. I'm trying to be smarter this time around, though. I'm following a protocol that is very close to LeanGains. I fast for 16 hours. I do cardio 4 days per week in a calorie deficit (enough for a pound a week loss), and I do weights 3 days a week at maintenance calories. My cardio days are lower carb/higher fat, and my workout days are higher carb/lower fat.

I'm not breaking any weight loss records so far, but I'm averaged a pound per week loss for the past 3 weeks. I'm also gaining strength at the same time, which I know won't last forever, but it's nice while it does.

Of course, tracking and weighing food sucks, and I miss the leisure of simply eating low carb foods. It sounds like you and I have somewhat similar goals.

Doug,

I agree with that alcohol stuff. The alcohol itself is bad news for fat loss, since the liver burns fat and completely shuts off fat burning while it's trying to rid your body of the toxin. But, what always killed me, was the loss of inhibition. My appetite and carb cravings would go up, and I just wouldn't care anymore. I think I downed a half gallon of ice cream once. Of course, I cared a lot the next day and felt super guilty.

Maybe I'll allow myself a beer or two or a glass of red wine when I get closer to my goal. For now, I have an appointment on December 9th with the plastic surgeon, and he's going to expect me to look better than the last time he saw me.

Chasing - I hear you on the leg lifts. I thought I was just being a wuss. If I have to pause, that is usually it.

238.2 this morning. Not great on the eats, no workout due to work this evening. Going to try a walk in the AM and P90 on the PM.

Good Morning Guys,

I was really busy yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to check in.

Last official weight check in 4-14-14 238 lbs
9-8-14 238 lbs

As you can see, I have not lost anything over the summer.....good news is that I haven't gained anything either. My travelling has slowed down a lot, so I should be able to focus much easier for the next 4 months. I am hoping to get down at least 10 - 15 pounds before Christmas....should be very doable.

Peace!

Ate clean yesterday, although had some major cravings at night. My best bet when that happens is to drink a bottle of water, and brush my teeth. Seems to distract my brain from wanting to eat then.

Harley, that is great you didn't gain over the summer. I'm sure you can drop 10-15 by Christmas.

heya fellas

had a good low carb induction week, but ran into a problem, brain function not always there lately, i think im too low of carb, and also there has been very slight movement on the scale, i even went and got ketostix to check if i was burning fat before and after meals, so far so good,

but i have these 6 tests i need to write in the next while to upgrade my work license, one is in 4 weeks from now, lately i feel i cant retain the info ever since i started the low carb,

came up with a new plan that has worked in the past, will eat normally, within reason, lower carb choices always come first, but i will have some carbs , also exercise will be mandatory,

i remember 3 years ago i did insanity and ate what i wanted and the first month i lost 10-14 lbs, i want to be there again,

did a new exercise today, some UFC Fit program one, was pretty hard, but not terrible, i do think i will be sore tomorrow

mistermirror, you have similar stats as me, start weight, goal weight etc, i got down to 145 the first time i did low carb, way too far, and like you i have a problem with the scale running me

Wow, those stats are pretty similar. How tall are you? I'm 5 foot 10. I am not sure of what I want my goal weight to be. You must have been emaciated at 145 pounds. I still have a small gut at 176 pounds, so I am hoping to lose enough that the gut is gone, whatever number that may be.

Day 2 Summary

Weight = 237.4 (-0.8)
Exercise = P90 sweat

I was looking real hard for an excuse to skip, but feel great now that it is done.

I like that and had to quote it. Ultimately, I that is my goal. Not sure if that has been the case since I was 17. I always carried a gut and then grew into that weight. However, like most all of us here, I continued to eat as if I would grow continuously.

Shiner - I am the same way. My brain function goes down when I either eat too many carbs or too few. I need that happy in-between to function.

im 5 ft 8, actually 145 was a little skinny, felt good though, if i worked on muscle back then it would have been fantastic, i felt a lot better at 160, then a few years later 165, then 170, u get the point!

i have started eating higher carb food last nite, and this morning i was starving, i kept it to good food, veggies, meat, eggs, and all day i felt more clear than the last week, i actually took in more from studying today so im gonna keep it up

tonite prime rib special at the local casino, everyone raves about it, actually a good deal for $12 canadian, plus i lose enough money there they will comp me for my wife and I

mistermirror how old are you if i may ask, i am 42, i started low carb at 32 for the first time when i lost 63 lbs, when i think of that its amazing, 30% of my body weight in 4-5 months

problem was i didnt intend on losing that much, i went to 155 and then i just kept eating low carb, i couldnt help it, i was hooked, and with exercise, i burned everything i ate,

Ken

Wow, we are close in age too, I just turned 43.

I had a bad food day today, have been feeling down and I gave in and ate pizza. The closer I get to my goal, the harder it seems to be to stay on track. I had no trouble with cravings the first couple of months, but lately I only go a week or so before screwing up.

oh well, back to basics starting tomorrow.
