Ahhh Marilee, the sound of silence - isn't it wonderful! Thanks for the nice words about our families.

When we get together my niece, the second lady in from the left and her husband, the man with the white hair and sunglasses give us a mini concert. She sings and he plays the guitar. She has a beautiful voice and one of the songs she sang was the country hit Two Black Cadillacs. She sounded better than Carrie Underwood! They are moving to LA this summer and we are so sad. That is too far away!

I am down .4 today so that makes me happy. I have sausage bites cooked for lunch and will bring some wing sauce for dipping and some zing.

Have a great day Blitzers! Will check back after work!

Good morning!

Marilee, so good to see you!! So glad the blowers are finally gone and your home is getting back to normal.

Tony, have fun tonight with Sarah, glad you made it to Nashville safe & sound!

Abi, what a fun family you have! Don't be sad that they're moving to LA....make plans to come visit them and enjoy sunny California!!

Well we survived Monday, on to Tuesday. Short week this week, today is a full day but I'll be working a half day tomorrow as DD and her fiancé are coming out tomorrow. She and I have plans for Manis/pedis and wedding prep stuff. Then of course Thursday is the wedding....getting so excited!! We told the manager at our favorite Mexican Restaurant that DD wants to have the wedding dinner there Thursday night after the ceremony and he was SOOOOO TOUCHED!! He started making plans to reserve a table for us and promised us that he would personally take care of us.....he is such a sweetheart!

Well, I'd better get back to work.....much to accomplish today before my short week ensues!

Tammy, how sweet to post the little girl picture of your daughter and the beautiful woman she has become! You are probably already enjoying that wonderful meal at the Mexican restaurant! Yum!

Marilee, I just love your profile picture. That is about all the spanish I can speak but do you really have to know any more?

Tony, I just open the container and dump them into a pot with some butter in the bottom on a sort of low heat. Maybe a 3 on my stove top setting. I cover the pot with foil so they will sort of cook on the top and bottom. Every now and then I stir them and flip them. They don't take long to cook through and you don't want them to over cook. I just put a little salt on them when I eat them. Love the taste occasionally.

My young friend at work wants to meet Kip Moore if he ever sings one of your songs. lol

Good morning!

Abi, congrats on the new low....way to go!!!

Thank you all for the well wishes!!

The wedding was fabulous!! I am waiting on the proofs from the photographer, she said she'd email them over today.....once I get them I'll post some more pics, in the meantime here's one I took of DD and I before we left for the ceremony.

It was beautiful by the ocean, but it was WINDY.....blew our hair to H#LL!! That ought to make for some interesting pics. It was just the 5 of us though, very intimate and private, just the way they wanted. They wanted DH to perform the ceremony and he did a WONDERFUL job.....it was tough for him to do without choking up and getting teary eyed.

I am WAAAAYY out of ketosis....but I enjoyed the day....now I have to get back on track!

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the love! My week was all sorts of crazy, just rolled with the punches to get everything accomplished. I am totally out of ketosis, but solidly back on track with my WOE today. I figure I should be back in keto by Monday or so.....at least that's my plan! I still have such a long way to go with my weightloss.....I was sad to see in the wedding pics just how much work I still have ahead of me....thank heavens I lost 32 pounds before the wedding!!! That's ok, I'm just more determined than ever! DH is too....so we made a commitment and set a goal. We decided to schedule a family photo shoot for either our birthdays in November (I'm Nov. 7, he's Nov. 8) OR our 28th anniversary in February. We both committed to being lean for that photo shoot!

How's everyone's weekend going?

awww, tammy, what beautiful pics!...you all look so awesome!...i bet you feel really good about all the effort you put into your woe these past few months - you really look great...i wanna hear about the mexican restaurant...haha

abs, hope the weather is nicer on the cape than it is here...other than when you went to visit your daughter, i don't ever remember you going anywhere overnight - good for you! :-)

hi marilee, is everything back together at your house?...any plans this weekend?

a very lazy day today...was planning on going to the building, but couldn't do what i wanted to in the rain, so i have been writing instead...working on finishing a song i wrote with a very talented young singer that is only a few lines from being done...very catchy little song and she said it is her favorite song she's ever been a part of, so that's nice...

amadora picked me up from the airport yesterday and i got a few hours with her...that baby is so darn cute!...haha...dw told me that emmy is meeting with a teacher looking for a nanny in the fall for her three young kids, ages 4, 2 and 4 months...it will be like having twin babies and a 2 and 4 year old...it's 4 days a week and pays $12 and hour which is quite a bit below what emmy could make as a teacher herself, but she could keep amadora with her...

if she's watching three little kids, i'm hoping she will let me take amadora for a few hours here and there when i'm free during the week...haha...

that's it for now...working on a new woe plan for five days a week...will let you know what it is when i finalize it...hoping to intensify my workouts and accelerate my weight loss between now and may 19 when i go back to nashville...

have a great night everyone...

Tammy, It's those wedding pics that knock the sense into you isn't it? Same thing happened for me with Zac's wedding in Nov. I kicked it into gear in January and fell of the wagon in Feb and haven't climbed back on. I hate this struggle. Why is it I can maintain my weight at whatever it is now but at a lower weight it's more difficult. BTW, thanks for sharing your pics here and on FB. I commented on the ones on FB too

Tony, let us know what that plan is. Will you be pre-planning menus? I don't know if I am willing to up the activity except for maybe walking more along with my usual a.m. workouts.

Abi, a new low is great.

Marilee, I though you were going to call a couple weeks ago? I am glad to hear that the blowers were removed; much quieter I suspect.

We rented the movie Frozen last night to see what all the hype was about. It was a cute and well done movie, but I didn't see what the big deal was. This afternoon we (Brian, John, Alyssa (Brian's daughter and I are going to see Heaven Is For Real.

The ugly bushes are coming out this afternoon hopefully. My bro's friend was supposed to have done it yesterday but was a no call, no show. He called bro to explain why he wasn't here and wanted to reschedule so bro called me. I said, you don't need to be the middle man, he is a grown up, have him call ME to reschedule, duh.

I know I have been MIA as is my usual pattern; off the wagon, off the site.

good to see you vicki...you know what works best for you, but i find that posting here every day helps me stay aware of what i am trying to do...i think if i got away from posting, it might be easy to drop weight loss and better health down on my list of priorities...that's how i got here in the first place...20 years of focusing on work so much that i only ate once a day, at night, and destroyed my metabolism and gained all the extra weight...

knowing i am accountable here keeps me aware of every food choice i am making and i slip but never fall completely off the wagon...

emmy texted me last night and said she is coming over later this afternoon with sal's 14-year-old sister...i'm very happy as i miss her and amadora already!...haha

abs, hope you have a great trip back from the cape...

tammy, i think you look sexy in the wedding photo :-)

We had a a great time at the cape even though it rained the whole time. I had been dreading this trip even though I knew it would be fun because I was pretty sure I would cave on the low carb. And of course I did. Tammy, there is no way I am still in ketosis either and am not going to weigh for a day or two. I also am back on the wagon in the morning!

Tony, I am a homebody for sure. I don't like to travel and I don't like to have to sleep in strange beds. My sisters and I had a blast but I am exhausted right now. So happy I took tomorrow off! lol

Talk to you all early in the morning!

Hi guys!

Vicki, yes....wedding pictures do knock some sense into you!! I am so glad that I lost the weight I did....I'd REALLY be upset with myself right now, at least I'm on my way. Hey, quit disappearing on us....maybe if you keep showing up here you'll keep climbing back up on the wagon....at least here you're surrounded by friends!

Tony, you're such a love....thanks! DH told me the same thing and said to focus on the progress I have made not kick myself for progress yet to come....and he's right....I'm in this for the long haul. NEXT STOP: Onderland! I hope you're having tons of fun with Amadora this afternoon!

Abi, Sounds like you had a wonderful time on your trip.....but yes I am very much a homebody like you. Good idea to take tomorrow off, a little time to relax before jumping back into work is good!

We've had such a nice day here, DH and I went out to some great hiking trails by Trump National Golf course and walked for about an hour enjoying some of the most spectacular ocean views you can imagine. We worked up quite a sweat, let me tell ya! We thoroughly enjoyed it though and we decided we needed to do this at least 3 - 4 times per week......it's close enough that we could go in the evenings after I get off of work.....we'd likely get in some gorgeous sunsets too. Since our birthdays are both in November we have a major goal to get to our goals by then.....walking these trails as often as possible would certainly help us lose the weight!

Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend, love you guys!!

Hi all.

On Wednesday, the company that repairs water damage will be coming out to replace dry wall, etc. so that should be the end of this ordeal

Vicki, I said we needed to talk, but I haven't had the chance...I've been trying to make up some of the time at work I'm missing due to the house stuff. You can always call me...I think my schedule is less hectic than yours. I saw the pictures of the rain you posted.

I've been off plan this week, and to be honest, haven't cared. I need to give myself a KITB (kick in the butt) and get going again.

hi marilee, i'm so happy you are nearing the end of your mold ordeal...missed you :-) we don't kick in the butt, but encourage and just think about how much better you could feel by summer if you spend the next two months on some sort of plan...

this dieting thing is so hard - and no matter what we want to call it, any type of food deprivation is a form of dieting...we get tired of it and so we fall off the wagon, and then we get tired of the effects of being overweight, so we climb back on and so the cycle goes...when we think we have it beat, we don't, and when we think we are beaten, we find a way to fight again...

we are all intelligent, successful people in other areas of our lives...we know what has to be done...i will speak for myself when i say, i just do not do it...not consistently enough and that is why i am still here trying to lose the 40 lbs. i need to instead of maintaining the healthy weight i almost achieved three years ago...

i am coming to the belief that there are two types of food - healthy food and unhealthy food...our bodies were designed to eat healthy food and not eat unhealthy food, although we will "run" on either to some extent..kind of like a fancy car that will run best on high octane, premium fuel, but can still get you from point a to point b on a lower octane, ethanol mix...it won't kill the car to put a few gallons of the cheap stuff in it every once in awhile, but use the crappy fuel as a steady diet and you'll eventually blow the engine...at the very least, it's almost 100% certain you will shorten the life span of the car...

if we use common sense and science and history, we can identify whether a food falls into one category or the other...generally, eating a balanced diet made up of all healthy foods in moderation is best...things we ate before we had factories is a good hint...the closer to the way we find a food in nature, the better...following a plan like that, in conjunction with moderate regular exercise, like walking, would lead us in almost every case, to have healthy, fit, beautiful, well-functioning bodies...

i am not preaching here - i am trying to write this down so I GET IT!...

we have to be honest with ourselves...if we do the shopping we have the power...good foods in the house and bad foods out...if someone else in the house wants to indulge in unhealthy foods, let them buy those themselves and give them their own cupboard to store them...saying we are buying that food for THEM is not really honest and not doing them any favors regardless of whether they have a weight problem...

we know what should be in the house and what shouldn't: cookies filled with processed sugar - out...apples in...processed potato chips - out...veggies - in...chicken dipped in processed flour and bread crumbs - out...lean meat - in...ETC.

we make the choice about what we will put in our bodies when we pull out our wallets and buy it - simple as that...and make no mistake - the unhealthy food is manufactured in many cases, by mega-corporations who have invested a lot of money on research to make their junk food delicious and habit-forming and i speak for myself when i say i am hooked...

since at age 55, i do not want to say i will never eat another cookie, and since i have proven that without a plan, i do not strike the balance that leads to good health and a good weight, i need a plan...i have been working on one that i think i can live with...one that restricts what i eat, but does so in degrees and gives me some flexibility and control...something that should lead to slow, steady loss...so here are the basic points in my new plan, which is subject to revision based on results:

1. i WILL NOT shop when i'm hungry and will not bring bad foods into the house - period
2. my plan is in effect 5 days a week - 2 days are "off" days when i have no restrictions
3. my week runs from sunday through saturday
4. i can eat as much on-plan food as i want
5. as soon as a take a taste of an off-plan food, that becomes an off-day
6. on-plan, free foods include all fruit, veggies, meats and spices except salt and sugar
7. off-plan foods include sweets like cookies, candy, ice cream, cakes, pies, etc.; salty, fried snacks like chips; bread, pasta, rice, potatoes; deep-fried foods; heavily processed foods
8. exceptions - allowable unhealthy or processed foods are: salad croutons, wasa whole grain crackers, air-popped popcorn, yogurt, cottage cheese

i have been following this plan for a week and i feel better already...i have not used an off-plan day yet...i let them expire saturday with no regrets...my body responded better to the exercise at the gym yesterday...i am not feeling deprived...this is a way better woe than i have adopted in a long time...it allows me to feel like i have control, but really limits my access to and ingestion of unhealthy food...

wish me luck!

p.s. tammy, here's a pic of me and emmy last summer

Wow Tony, what a great post! Alot to digest! I have always loved your idea of 2 days a week without restrictions and the stipulation that if you eat any off plan food that becomes a non restricted day. Boy, that would stop me cold from taking that first compulsion bite if I did not want that day to be non restrictive day!

I am back from the dark side and eating my on plan foods today. Need to open a bottle of water and start chugging. Not going to weigh for a day or so.

Marilee, I know you will be so glad to get this week over with and have the leak problem put to bed. While we were at the cape my sister noticed water around the base of the sink cabinet in one of the bathrooms of our friend. The pipe was totally broken under the sink! Fortunately we caught it before all the dinner guests had all turned on the sink water to wash their hands!

Son in law saw a tornado near Joplin and Carl Junction yesterday when he went to get youngest grandaughter home safe from a friend's house. DD said it was sunny in their neighborhood but she could see the dark sky near by. I hate tornado season! So many sad stories today.

Tammy, I hope you have a nice calm Monday!

Vicki, I read the book, Heaven is For Real. How was the movie?

Well, back to catch up day on house work. Talk to you all later!

Happy Monday all,

Tony, I love, love LOVE your new plan.....very wise words, thank you for taking the time to share them with us!!! That's a wonderful picture of you and Emmy! I recognize that look in your eyes....I'm pretty sure I saw that exact same look in my hubby's eyes last week!

Abi, Yes so far Monday is a very calm day! Don't sweat the weekend, we'll both get right back into ketosis and start losing again!!

I hope everyone's having a fabulous Monday. Planning on another walk this evening after work. Here's a pic of the area where the trails are that we walk.....tough huh??

Tammy, what a beautiful area to be able to walk in. Do you have to drive far to get there?

tammy, what a beautiful location!...and it was 97 degrees the day i took that walk with emmy, and one of the few days all summer when there wasn't the slightest breeze off the ocean...i think the thought going through my mind at that moment was "i'm not giving her away to anybody"...hahaha

abs, i had another on-plan day today, and when i thought about ordering chinese food for dinner, i decided against it so i would not make today an off-day...during the week, i will want to save those for the weekend and on the weekend i feel reluctant to go off track after a good week...so far, so good...

b: greek yogurt with blueberries and sprinkled with steel cut oats
l: salad with evoo, balsamic vinegar and topped with feta
d: left over grilled chicken, and grilled andouille sausage with mustard

the tree guys called me at 8 today and said they were coming over with no notice!...messed up my whole day as ds and i were stuck at home...did what we could here - repaired the split rail fence, filled the driveway winter ruts, cleaned the pool cover, etc., but have a lot of work left to do at the building...got a few messy and sick trees out of the yard - one was a 100 ft tall pine that was over two feet in diameter - i hated doing it...

hope everyone has a great night!

tomorrow i have the gym, then a brief meeting and then the building...meeting another prospective new tenant at 1:30 who makes furniture out of old wine and whiskey barrels - sounds cool...
