hi tammy, your weekend sounds awesome too!...that beach sounds like those california hidden gems we see in movies!

we actually did not go for ice cream as planned...amadora fell asleep in our arms in the living room and then dw and i also took a 30-minute nap with her...it was very cute - the three of us all asleep in the living room...when we woke up, we had lost our ambition...haha

we got our sign approved tonight very easily, which was good...before the meeting, i took the girls out for a quick bite and i ordered the baked haddock...

both mediation and building work today...we are sponsoring a nashville songwriter concert at the building on june 28th...lots of work to do for that...

see y'all tomorrow!

Tony, your Nashville song writer concert sounds fantastic. Didn't you used to have those concerts alot at your old building? I think I told you in the Gulf Shores area where we lived they had a song writer festival every year. At The Beach Club where I worked we would always be one of the hosts. One year Ray Stevens surprised us and showed up. I missed him of course because it was past my bed time. lol

Tammy, so glad you are back in ketosis! It pays off to be stubborn! Are you able to hike from your home to these coves along the ocean? What a lovely hike that must have been. Hope you survived yesterday being shorthanded. We were too so made for a challenging day.

I am off early to the area by our store complex. They have pulled out the spring bulbs to plant other flowers and told us we could have some of the bulbs. I got about 20 tulip bulbs last year. Hoping they are not all gone when I get there. They told us a week ago.

Have a great day blitzers!

Good morning all,

Tony, A Songwriters concert sounds fabulous!! My husband recorded an album in Nashville about 18 years ago, he's incredibly talented, he always jokes that he's one of the best singers you've never heard of! Napping with the baby sounds divine....I always found a sleeping baby to be the BEST sleeping pill in the world!

Abi, No we don't hike from our home....our apartment is in the middle of town, so we drive about 10 minutes out to the trails and hike from there. You are so fortunate to get those bulbs....what kind did you get??? I love gladiolas, I used to have those lining the front of my house in Colorado!

Well kids, I did survive yesterday....though I was one BUSY puppy!! I was the only one covering BOTH of my properties. I was so active yesterday that for the first time since getting my FitBit I logged OVER 10,000 steps.....in fact, I logged over 12,500! I've been shooting for 10,000 steps in a day, and even with our 2 mile hikes every evening that can be a challenge.....but not yesterday. It's a good reminder that I need to get up away from the desk more and move!! The kids came over last night to spend the night and hang out today, I have a busy day at work today so I won't get to see them much.....so we stayed up til midnight playing a really funny game and laughing like crazy. DS had his GF over and she fit right in with our craziness.....she might be a keeper. DH and the kids are going to take that hike down to the hidden beach again today....wish I could join them!!

Well I've got to get back to work, have a great day!!

tammy, as much running around as i do, i bet i don't walk anywhere near 10,000 steps a day...sorry you will miss fun with the family today...how many apt. units do you oversee?...please send me directions to the hidden beach :-)

i can't believe i didn't know your hubby recorded an album in nashville...were they original songs?...who wrote them?...do you remember the name of the studio?...tell me more!

abs, yes, this will be the first show we've done since we sold the store three years ago, but before that, we had done 13 or 14, i think...i remember you telling me about gulf shores...was that the frank brown festival?...that's a huge songwriter event...half of nashville goes there...

busy, but fun day today...met my bro and his daughter for lunch and all four of my local kids met us at a nice seafood restaurant...sal and amadora were there too...she is grabbing everything in sight and i love it!...she is becoming so smart and curious...

gym in the morning...how's everyone else doing?

Yes, Tony, it is the Frank Brown Festival. Wondering if Amadora is trying to crawl yet? Can't remember when they start doing that. On the bulbs, I have never pulled any but the complex probably pulled these afew weeks ago right after they stopped blooming. I will plant mine in the fall before the ground is frozen.

Tammy, that is exciting news about your DH recording an album in Nashville 18 years ago! He must have a great voice! I don't know for sure what bulbs I got. Last year they ended being all tulips and one hyacinth and this year someone said they were probably daffadils. I haven't looked that closely at the dried up leaves still attached. I will cut all that off this weekend and maybe some flowers are still attached and I can tell what I got.

Leftover steak for me today.

Have a great day Blitzers!

Tammy, when did you get the Fitbit? I am shooting for 10,000 steps a day too. The downside though, even though I may exercise some other way besides walking, say a dvd with weights like Gilad, I can burn off calories etc. but steps aren't counted. So, I end up marching in place or like yesterday, I walked in the basement. I would have walked outside but the black flies around here are crazy loaded this year and being outside is a hassle.

Abs, Ray Stevens, how cool is that?

Tony, you are so consistent with your gym workouts.

Today was weigh in day: 250.2 down 2 lbs. But, I am (I know TMI) plugged up. You would think with the amount of vegetables I eat that it wouldn't be a problem. However, my fiber grams don't amount to a hill of beans (no pun intended). I exercise enough and drink enough water/fluids too. So that isn't a problem.

Two nights ago I took dulcolax and again last night. I drank 2 cups of Smooth Move herbal tea yesterday. I drank a cup this morning and also had a BPC hoping the added oil will help. Hoping for results. I don't feel bloated or anything, but being a nurse, I can envision a bowel obstruction and don't want to go down that road.

Well off later with mom to an appt. TTYL

tammy, isn't two hours drive across L.A. about 3 blocks?...haha!

vicki, i think you are consistent with workouts too...you must be fit to do what you are doing.

abs, i may try pulling up the daffodils that have stopped blooming as they are sitting in what is now part of the "lawn", and try to move them to a better spot...i've heard it's healthy to dig them up every couple of years and split the bulbs up?...what say you, misses greenjeans?...nope, no crawling yet - she's gonna be a hoot when that starts!...but emmy did text me this morning to tell me that her first tiny tooth is peeking through!

decided to get some work done early, now off to the gym!

marilee, sorry to hear this has been a stressful week...but keep the faith - there's still two days for it to turn around :-) i love your new avatar too!

i'm afraid tammy is still stuck in traffic...

i've got about 25 balls up in the air right now - i can't believe none have hit the ground yet...hahaha...building work and mediations tomorrow and i'm working on a new song...i think i'm gonna need a psychiatrist soon...

the gym workout was great this morning - i don't remember my body feeling as good as it does right now since approximately the early 90s...even though i'm 30 lbs. heavier than i was then...hope it lasts!

Tony, so glad you feel so good. That is the best reward for eating right. Hope none of the balls hit the ground today! Will you be performing at your concert too? Hope someone will tape you singing one of your songs and you can e-mail it to us!

Marilee, glad you posted even though it was just a short one. We love to hear from you.

Hi all!

A songwriter concert sounds like a major jam session. Sounds like a whole bunch of fun!

I've always been proud and a bit envious of Vicki's workout dedication. I wish some of it would rub off on me. However, while cleaning out the closet, I came across some "Sweating to the Oldies" DVD's and they aren't too hard and can be modified so I think I'm going to start. Even if I only last a couple of minutes, it's a start.

I've developed an allergy to the soy in the MF foods so I have stopped. Go figure.

Amadora is cutting her first tooth? Holy cow! I've never had children so I don't know the time frame, but it seems like she was just born.

Need to get to work. I'll touch base later.

Hope Lori and ff are doing ok.

Marilee, good luck with the workouts. I have found several free ones on youtube too.

Yesterday I went with my mother to an appt. and we ate out at a Mongolian Grill place. I stuck with veggies and meat/fish but wondered what was in the sauces. I see that the hoisin sauce had many carbs, drat anyways. May have to stay away from those places or skip the sauces. Unless you HAVE to have them for the grillers.

It is chilly and breezy today. But, I am going to take a walk this afternoon and take advantage of it.

marilee, i think it's a great idea to pull out the dvds and start doing what you can do...you guys have all lived through my aches and pains and surgeries and therapies and workouts and setbacks, etc. but as abi says, that and eating better, have gotten me to this feel-good place right now...i still have a long way to go, but feeling better and stronger is such an awesome thing...i have to stop myself from thinking about all the years i accepted feeling crappy...i didn't even know that i felt crappy til now...it kind of snuck up on me gradually...it all starts with those first few steps!

too funny about amadora's teeth - she was just born 5 1/2 months ago...after 4-6 months they grow and learn exponentially quicker!

vicki, that mongolian grill sounds yummy...i'm not as diligent about the sauces and stuff as i should be...

abs, during all those many concerts i hosted, i only performed one song, one time and it was one i wrote for our customers at the end of the last concert before i closed the store...they gave me a very warm and UNDESERVED standing ovation...i don't plan to perform at this one! ;-)

heading out to mediation now...hope y'all have a great night!

Hi guys!!

I survived the trip yesterday and the meeting......I managed to keep my resolve strong, even though they had TERRIBLE food choices!! They brought in sub sandwiches and chips.....no veggies....no salad.....I pulled the meat and cheese off the sandwich and threw the bread away. I was handsomely rewarded by staying in ketosis!!

Tony, I have 220 units total between the two properties. My last property in Phoenix was 550 units, but since this is two separate properties here it actually keeps me busier! DH is a gospel singer, and no none of the music was original, he recorded with Daywind records.....he went through their library and picked out a bunch of songs and they recorded him. He did because over the years he's always been asked if he had a tape or anything because people loved his singing so much.....he bought 500 copies and over the years gave every single one away. Of course I'm biased, but I think he's pretty amazing! Here's a link to one of his songs that our son put up on Youtube if you want to hear him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDNTgnXyu2I

Abi, I love mystery bulbs....I used to do that too.....grab some bulbs and hope for the best.....I was never disappointed because how can you go wrong with flowers???

Marilee, I love the new AVI!!!! I'm sorry it's been a stressful week, I certainly know how that goes!! We're here for you!

Vicki, I love Mongolian grills, or any kind of Asian food. I find that if I stay away from the rice, the carbs in the sauce don't affect me too severely.....but the rice is a problem because I LOVE rice!!!

Well kids, back to work....trying to get caught up from being out all day yesterday!

wow, tammy, he really has an awesome voice...i'd pay to hear this song...like the arrangement and background vocals too...tell him i said nice job! :-)

okay, we are having a minor crisis over here tonight...we have something bigger than a mouse that left droppings on the klitchen counter tonight and we are freaked out...we get mice here and there, we generally trap them in a havahart trap and take them about a mile away and let them go...i never use pesticides...i hate introducing poisons in our environment here...

i saw a chipmunk crawling up the corner boards of the house recently - i hope if it's not a mouse that it's a chipmunk and not a rat - although i've never seen a rat out here where we live...hope it's not a squirrel either...i left a knife on a napkin on the counter and was watching a movie with my son and 30 minutes later i went back in the kitchen and saw a bunch of bigger droppings on the napkin!...yuck!...gonna have to deal with this in the morning somehow...my wife is ready to move...hahaha!

Tony, I'd get that havahart loaded up and set up on your kitchen counter right away. We have been catching squirrels out in the yard - 7 so far and dropping them away from the house. Peanut butter with sunflower seeds is irresistible and they can't snatch it and run. Good luck with that one! On the performing front you should sing that song you won the award for. Don't let those voice lessons go to waste!

Tammy, loved listening to your DH singing and love that song. When I get a chance I will listen to more of his album. So happy you were able to stay in ketosis yesterday!

Marilee, terrific you are sweating with the oldies. Great music and alot of fun! Sorry you have an allergy to the soy. Hope you didn't have alot of the MF foods left.

Vicki, so sweet of you to take your mom to her appointment and then out to lunch. Those darn sauces, taste so good and have such bad stuff in them.

Plan to stack some more wood tomorrow, just keep chipping away at our huge pile. Cooking up some eggs right now for egg salad.

Have a great day Blitzers!

Hi all, Tammy, wow, what a voice your DH has, very calming. Thanks for sharing.

Tony, I have never heard of havahart traps. We have all kinds of chipmunks and ground squirrels around here. I have hear of people trapping and drowning them in a milk jug. I don't think I could do that either even though it isn't poison.

Abi, that sounds like an interesting thread. I too found another thread that I am going to follow: Non-scale victories - please share yours

Since numbers on the scale can play mind games, it is good to report the NSV.

A couple of days ago I thought I would test to see if I was in ketosis. I was, even though slight, but I was there. According the the website that I track my food and exercise, I have been staying under 50g of carbs. Not too bad I guess.

Good morning all,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Song, there are 2 or 3 of his songs from the album on Youtube. They're also in one spot at our family blog The Miles Ministry My son in law maintains the blog and wants to upload the entire album eventually. There is another Robert Miles who IS famous, he's in mainstream music....jazz I think....he's all over Youtube....not the same guy!

Tony, I think Gospel music may be the TOUGHEST field to make it in, DH was never willing to go on the road and sacrifice his family for the possibility of hitting it big, but he has sung in more churches and venues than one might imagine....I'm incredibly proud of him!!! I hope it's a chipmunk and not a rat too.....chipmunks are much cuter and somehow far less creepy!

Abi, I will check out that butter thread....it looks very interesting!! Keep stacking that wood....it's great exercise!

Vicki, it's amazing isn't it how that darn scale can play such mind games??? NSV's are a great way to stay focused! Hey slight ketosis is still ketosis....I've decided that it's like being pregnant.....you either are or you aren't.....there is no little bit!!

Marilee, thanks honey!

Well, TGIF....I hope everyone has a GREAT Friday, and a wonderful fathers day.....Tony, I hope your kids shower you with all the love they have, you are a GREAT dad and deserve to be celebrated!

hey tammy, thanks for the kind words...i'm hoping i get to see the kids on sunday - i'm sure i will see at least some of them - no sarah though :-(

my son graduates from hs on monday and we invited dw's parents to come up and celebrate father's day with us on sunday so that will be nice...

abi, want me to come out there and help you stack that wood?...what's on the agenda this weekend?...how far away do you drive the squirrels you catch?...don't new squirrels just move in?

vicki, i think you are doing great!...the havahart trap just catches the animal in a cage and doesn't harm them...

speaking of which.....we caught a large mouse in one of the traps this morning and dropped him off a mile from home...we are thinking the droppings were probably from him...i baited another trap and sprinkled sunflower seeds around it and none were touched all day today, so the problem may be solved...i hope so!

what a day today - at one point, i was working with two different co-writers on two different songs, drafting a mediated agreement, dealing with the cycle girls, the city where my building is and the signmaker - ALL AT THE SAME TIME!

if i ever start losing it, it's gonna be so obvious!

Tony, you make our heads spin! Glad you caught the culprit! I drop the squirrels about a mile from our house and yes, as soon as we get rid of two, two more arrive. Saw one earlier and have the havahart ready to go.

Did some more stacking this morning. Photos are from last Saturday. At this rate it will take 4 more sessions. Phew

Need to get to the store and then work on the room over the garage where the grandkids will be bunking 4th of July week.

Vicki, good going on keeping carbs low and being in ketosis. Do you feel like you have more energy?

Tammy, your DH sounds like he has his priorities in order. So nice that he does get a chance to share his talent in your area churches.

Marilee, now that you have to stay away from the soy, what will your woe be? More delicious steak? yum

Will check back later Blitzers!

wow, abs, that is a LOT of firewood!...you did an awesome job opening up that path along the pallets - that is exactly how i would be attacking that project...i think we have some real similarities in our personalities...haha...

think i will hit the gym this morning and then dw and i may soak in the hot tub for a bit and then go out to buy my son in law a graduation gift - i'm thinking a set of golf clubs - i don't think he plays - none of us play much, but it's something we could do together a few times per season with my sons...i ordered my son a laptop for his graduation - that will be here next week...

hope everyone has a great saturday!

Nice graduation gifts Tony! No one could ever accuse you of being stingy. lol

I got a good once over done on the bunk room for the kids up over the garage yesterday. Now am washing sheets and quilts to get them ready.

May make DH an asparagus casserole today for Father's Day if he does not want to cook out. It's too carby for me but I will save myself some bites of steamed asparagus and some mushrooms.

We will be going to the Backside today and I will be having my usual. DH usually orders the spanish omlet but that is too much egg for me.

One of his gifts from DD was a faded blue ball cap with the head of a black lab embroidered on the front like our dog Bama. He loved it of course. He also got a small metal disk to add to his key chain that says "we love you PaPa" with the 4 grandkids names engraved all around it. So sweet!

Hope Tammy, Vicki and Marilee are all having fun and relaxing weekends. Will check back later.

Have a great Sunday blitzers!

awww, your daughter and her family are so sweet, abs...did you say too many eggs?...i thought that was impossible for you, miss eggy mceggy!

i'm missing my dad and grandfather...they've been gone 33 and 35 years - my dad died less than 1 1/2 years after his father...thinking about an impulsive road trip to RI this morning to visit the cemetary - it would be almost 4 hours round trip and i don't know who might be coming over here and when, but i may do it anyway...my youngest son doesn't get out of work til after 3 and i would be home before that...

everything i've ever accomplished, i owe to those guys who taught me to have integrity and to work hard...

it is absolutely beautiful weather today!...hope y'all enjoy your sunday!

Happy Father's Day Tony and any other dad's out there.

We are in a motel and I did the best I could with the fake breakfast items; bacon, sausage HB eggs are the closest thing to a real egg not the scrambled eggs, those come from a carton. I am sure the sausage is full of fillers too.

In order to get my 10000 steps in yesterday after spending about 4 hours in the car, I walked the hallways and climbed the stairs to complete my goal. Today I did the elliptical for 40 minutes and walked some hallways before getting back into the car.

I was over my calorie goal yesterday by about 200 and may be today. But, I am not going to get hung up over it because it is either veggies, meats/protein or Quest bar that did it.

Happy Father's Day! I'm with you, Tony. I miss my dad too, and my mother passed away today 11 years ago so It's double sadness. I never knew either of my grandfathers. They both died when my parents were young.

Not sure what my woe is going to be, Abi. On the low carb side, but it's Summer and fruit is hard to say no to, so whatever I do, I will allow myself a little bit of fruit each day. I don't think that will kill me.
