Actually I have been doing more of a nutritional ketosis approach, which is high fat, moderate protein, low-carb. (I do about 75%, 20%, 5%) But I
I have been stuck for ten days. I think I have finally reached a set point (it's soooo aggravating!) - and my body wants to stay put. So today I am changing it up.

What I usually do when I have a mini-stall is a fat fast, which would probably work to break the stall but I just had a three-day fat fast last week and so it's just not the best nutritional solution for this week.

Plus, a fat fast can cause me to be unable to donate plasma, which I try to do twice a week. My body makes fewer red blood cells when I am not eating protein for a few days, which causes my hematocrit to drop too low to donate. Not to mention a fatty diet can clog up the plasma machine.

So today, instead of a fat fast, I will be changing it up with moderate protein, ultra-low-carb, ultra-low-fat today. -- But some of the carbs/fat today will come from my coffee with HWC, because I can't live without it.

I will also be doing some really intense leg and core exercise to burn up any residual glycogen in my liver and put all that protein to use building muscles.

I know that this may result in a few more days of stalled weight loss, as intense muscle building activity causes water retention. But in the long run, I think it will help get my metabolism moving again and re-kindle my ketosis.

Protein powder pancake:
One scoop protein powder of your choice (low-carb vanilla is best)
3 tbsp egg whites
2 oz water
.5 tsp baking powder

Mix ingredients and cook like an ordinary pancake, using cooking spray.
Serve with Walden Farms calorie free pancake syrup
You'll need LOTS of syrup, as these pancakes are quite dry.

102 calories, 20g protein, 1g fat, 2g net carbs

Cheryl, we live in the 'burbs so our home is well away from it but my husband is a police officer so on the day it happened was the day before we were leaving for Europe. He had to work a 23hr day and head straight to the airport.. Thankfully they still let us go!

Jo - yuck!!! 84 here but storms coming in Sunday. So we will pay for this. Then a cool off. So glad you are back. I don't care if I'm on plan or not. I still come here. Everybody struggles. That's when I need this place the most. So quit it. The disappearing!

Misty looks like the lake is trying to melt there. I'm so glad we finally got out of winter. I hope everybody makes it out soon.

Nikki good for you.

I'm on the verge of leaving the 130's. I finally settled on keeping my calories 1000 or less and eating the foods I enjoy. So far it is working and I don't feel deprived. Back to my 10000 steps/ day. Then going to slowly work up to a little weight training if my body will let me.

Cheryl you see I love coming here and if a have a small treat that's ok once in awhile , like my popcorn with the boys on movie night, But when I am just out of control and need to get back in control I have to deprive myself. I love coming here so told myself until I had four days straight and so I did it! I also finally got back in Onederland this morning and I am so happy although its just barely there. I feel more determined then ever now. Just looked through all my weigh in since I started in here in 2011. I am up 19 lbs from my lowest weight in but down pretty much 60 from my highest. So that proved to me once again that this WOE works for me. I just can't keep letting stress get in its way. Soon as the ice melts on the roads I am going to get back pole walking 6 days a week and I always feel better when I am doing that, helps with the stress too. WTG on just about leaving the 130's you are doing great . I guess we both know that if we just stick with it , we will lose. But at 130 you must be so tiny! Misty spring peaks in and then out again but nothing above 0 in the next 7 days and some pretty cold ones. The snow is going down a little I can see the top of my fence now . Nikki your doing great Enjoy your Saturday and Deb I hope your having fun.

Jo I'm just short. 5'. When I get in the upper 130's I am on the verge of obese according to BMI calculator. I am still in the overweight cats gory and will be until I get mid 120's. My goal is 112 and the will put me firmly in the ok category plus I feel better there.

I'm just happy you are back .

Isn't it frustrating? I am 5'2" and have been hovering around 137-138-139 for weeks My BMI is still, maddeningly, in the overweight category.

This morning my software told me "You are still .32 pounds above what is considered a healthy weight." Grrrr!

Soooo close...

I switched to high-protein-only (no fat or carbs) for a few days, just to change it up, and it worked! I plan to go on another fat fast and then back to JUDDD when I stall again. probably in a week or so. When I get close to goal I always have a really hard time losing the last 10-15 pounds so I expect to have to constantly change my methods to keep my metabolism guessing.

We are home..had a wonderful Friday..this morning ate at the hotel and hit the road early.

30 minutes later L/B was sick..had to stop going threw the mountain pass about 8 times for the guy till he told me his blood pressure had dropped and he needed me to get him to hospital..i drove like a crazy woman and luckily
40 kl outside of the city with a hospital I hijacked a ambulance and the took him..landed him in ER for about 8 hours..

I was so worried that when they released him I would get it..we ate different but still we were a 3 hour drive from home so he had his blanky and pillow and his puke bag....

we are home and he is tucked into bed

never seen anyone that sick before

nite

Deb I am so sorry LB got that sick, sounds like it might of been food poisoning. Its no fun and he will take at least 24 hours to get it all out of his system. Glad you didn't eat the same thing. Sorry your weekend was ruined in the end but glad all is well with you. Hugs

Rainy and cool here. Maybe storms later then freezing and snow showers. Gotta love the warm cold front clashes.

Lovely sunny day here

well it was a not bad nite sleep..i woke up a few times to make sure I was feeling ok and checked on my man.

he is not throwing up any more but still even water is going threw him..poor guy he is so drained and tired.I just tucked him back into bed for a nap..never seen any one so sick but I think he is 90% better

looks like he has lost about 10 pounds and im sure he will lose more..well that's the up side but I sure wouldn't want what he has.

im just keeping the house quiet for him..he had a little chicken soup with lots of broth before his nap and im going to cook up some skinless chicken breasts and see if he can snack on them threw the rest of the day..

im pooped..someone hug me please

so I was reading about how you should add some evoo to your kale salad and let it sit...breaks down the kale and makes it easier to chew..altho I love the crunch but I love evoo so I tried it and it really does make a difference.

I took a huge bowl and put my bagged Costco kale salad into it..poured a good gollop of evoo..it even could have been avocado oil..i have the RR oil desensers.....

mix it a few times over a 20 minute period and then add the nuts and fruit and dressing
now I love salads with lots of dressing so not only did I add the poppy seed but I added some blue-cheese

yum..and some chicken

Good morning everyone! Ugh, Monday morning and we wake up to snow on top of it all. We had the 80 degree temps yesterday and then the cold front came through and dropped us 40 degrees within 2 hours. The snow won't be around long, and it won't really stick to the warm ground, but it is still annoying. We had hail yesterday afternoon when the storms came through.. but no damage.

Deb: I am really sorry to hear about LB getting so sick. It sounds like that nasty stomach bug we had here about a month ago. It even made my dh sick and he usually does not get sick. I hope he is feeling better today.

Cheryl: Sounds like you are doing great! I hope you get to say goodbye to the 130's this week. I have just completely dropped the ball lately. I have been stress eating the last few days and need to stop that.

I have lots to do today as usual. I am going to the store to get my lc foods back in the fridge. Then I will check out few places to look for a dress for dd wedding coming up in 6 weeks. Tonight is the night that we Jehovah's Witnesses have a Memorial for Jesus Christ's death so I will be there with my whole family. That will be my only holiday event this week. But, my son is very much looking forward to his 3 day weekend coming up. Have a great day everyone. I will try to drop back by later. I need to catch up on reading the thread.

Goodmorning, another warm spring day, most of the ice is off the lake, the rest should be melted today. It's already 65 out. Did alot of yard work yesterday and had our 1st small cookout with neighbors Saturday. Spring is finally here, it took long enough.

Deb glad L/B is feeling better. Hows him arm doing today? Tks for the tip on the kale salad. I like mine crunchy but DH says he doesn't so I'll try that on half of it. I been eating it alot.

Good chilly morning. We are in the 30's. That probably sounds warm to you Jo. Are you about to get the great ice break? We didn't get snow V. Our area didn't get any bad storms. Some wind. But the casino where my nephew works did. He said they had an unexpected renovation there. A waterfall feature was added in the Blackjack pit did some nervous eating yesterday so I didn't weigh today. Deb how's LB? Misty sounds like you are thawing. That just leaves Jo. Mom doing the same.
