Hey Julie, I am pretty sure that if you are under stress your cortisol levels are raised. It is very hard to lose weight and easy to gain if you are under stress.

Wonder what the scale would show if you only weigh after a day that was not stressful even if it is less or more than one week?

I envy people that can spend long periods fasting, like 18 hours or so. I have read the health benefits and believe them to be true. Wish I could do that.

I have my hamburger and oopsie bun packed for work.

Friday we are having our yearly company picnic. We will stop work at 11 and if it is nice out we will go to a company property called the farm. I have never been there so hope I get to see it. The office says they have some fun games planned.

Have a great day gang.

Hey, gals!

Lots of stuff going on with me so I have been MIA! My daughter moved in with me temporarily since she got a fabulous job close to me. She wants to get out of debt then move into her own place. My younger daughter is going to be moving August 16 to go to University of Central Florida to get her bachelor's -

Refrigerator went on the blink - had to get a new one. I had Danielle's birthday this weekend with the family. I made chicken cutlet parmesean so I did cheat

Whew! Going to spin tonigh and will be good today!

Cheryl, hey! So glad you are back! Bummer about the frig.

Just packed my lunch. Same as yesterday, a hamburger and some oopsie buns. Some one on another thread was asking about the oopsie rolls. There are so many variations. here is long thread about them. Oopsie Rolls

Welcome back Cheryl, I've been having an appliance go out every 2 months! Soon I will have all the appliances replaced...lol

No loss today, but I can figure out that I ate more carbs on Monday so just have to wait another 2 days to see if I can get back on track.

UD today so lots of meat on the plan...

Hamburger and oopsie bun for lunch today. I had a salad and some cheese for dinner last night.

Julie, sorry you have been having appliance trouble too. Knock on wood, hope ours keep working for a long time.

Have a great day gang!

Thanks Abigale, we had some bad storms just pass us as well in South NJ.
I am reading a book by Ann Ryan and her experiences in IF and LC. She
was giving advise on what to do on a plateau. She said to up the oils and
or calories. I can't seem to get my head around upping calories when
really I want to lose weight...hmmm Its a way to reset your body that
has become adaptive to the calories you use.

IF day for me...

Have a great day...

I can't remember Julie if you have done a fat fast but I know Dr. Atkins suggested one if you hit a plateau. Here is a thread that talks about it. Fat Fast food ideas?
People have a lot of success with these fasts.

Cheryl, have you ever tried any Linda Sue's low carb recipes? They are all delicious!BREADED CHICKEN CUTLETS - Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

Today is our company picnic. I am still in ketosis and my weigh in day is tomorrow. I am sooo hoping for at least another pound down. I need to remember this and chow down on the hamburgers and stay away from the carbs. Wish me luck!

The picnic went well. I had one hamburger, no bun and a big salad and a diet soda. They had one tempting thing but I managed to stay away from it.

Today was weigh in day and I am showing exactly the same as last week. Hope it is just a water retention thing. I am still in ketosis so hope that means I am still using my fat stores as my energy source.

Plan to cook up some bacon in a little bit and make a double batch of oopsie buns. I like them much better after they have sat out for a day to dry. The texture is much more bread like - not sticky.

Have a great day gang!

Julie, how did the meat only day go yesterday? Did you get a lot done around the yard?

I mainly did a lot of cleaning in the house. After working overtime last Saturday it really needed it. Had bacon, a hamburger, an oopsie, mayo and tomato sandwich, some pork skins with sour cream dip yesterday. We will go out for breakfast this morning and I will have my usual two scrambled eggs and side of bacon.

Hope you have a great day!

Well our internet finally came up last night. Glad about that! Haven't had time to read all the posts but will after work.\

Came home to find the washing machine had quit with a full load of clothes and water in it. Just finished bailing it out and hanging the soaking wet clothes out on the line. DH will call the repair man today. I have said before that after my car my washer and drier are my most prized possessions. lol

We had a family gathering last night at the Marina since my brother from Georgia was in town with his wife. We had a great time. There were 10 of us there. I had my usual Caesar salad.

Hamburger and oopsie rolls today,. I am out of eggs! Oh no! Must stop at store on way home from work. Have a great day gang!

Julie, I hate that out of control feeling. I have fought it off and on for years. I went to oa many years ago for a couple of years. It helped at the time but like everything else the carbs and sweets pulled me off the program. This time around I am desperately trying not to start making the low carb sweets. I think they are a stepping stone for me to fall off the wagon.

Cheryl, how are the meat and eggs and lots of water going. What will you be doing in Chicago next month? You may have told me but I forgot.

Just made my oopsies and a hamburger. Have a great day gang!

I am trying hard - today I have a stomach ache.

I made turkey burgers with taco seasoning last night and they were good but for some reason, didn't agree with me.

Abigale - I am going Labor Day weekend for the Jazz Festival. I am meeting up with cousins from NY (where I grew up) and we are staying at a hotel right near the festival so it should be great! 3 nights, 4 days. I am looking forward to it.

Julie - I could never go all day and not eat?

Cheryl, that jazz festival with your cousins sounds like a blast! You will have such fun!

Julie, I read a little about the caveman's diet. It sounds very good. Hey eating steak every other day sounds wonderful.

I have tomatoes, mayo and oopsies for lunch today. Had a salad last night for dinner and an oopsie tomato sandwich. So hoping to see some kind of loss in the morning.

Have a great day gang!

Just did my Saturday weigh in and after no loss last week I am down 1.2 pounds today. I'll take it! Even though I didn't lose any last week I am averaging a pound a week so that is good and is keeping me motivated.

Didn't feel like cooking last night so just mixed up some sour cream dip with a little fiesta ranch style seasoning and dipped pork skins in it. Was afraid the salt would do the water retaining thing but I guess not

Julie and Cheryl, have a good day!

Gained 1 pound since I weighed so back in the saddle as they
say and glad to be on a plan (looked back in April on 10lbs lost!)
Doing the same as April which was Low Carb, High fat.

Having a family gathering later. No idea of menu, but will
eat before I go and have my SF/LC diet drink with me, chewing
gum and LC treats in case I need them. I think it will be
just a hamburger/hotdog thing which I can work with.

Have a great day!

Having a great time watching my new favorite TV series
Outlander, I have read and reread the books
--my favorite author...love it !!
Knitting a camisole/tank as I watch...

20 days till FL vacation...looking forward to this!!

Read this from Dr Perlmutter today,
"It seems like everybody wants to lose weight. So, what is the best diet for weight loss? It is really a diet that, seemingly a paradox, has the most fat. If you want to lose weight, you eat more fat, and this isn’t that new. This dates back to at least 2007 as published in the Journal of the American Medical Association where they compared the Atkins diet, Traditional American diet, Ornish diet, and the Zone diet."

When I started adding Coconut Oil, I started losing weight in April.

I know eating fat does not seem right at all with most people as they have had it drilled into them for many years that fat will make you fat and clog up your arteries. But a diet high in coconut oil, olive oil, and butter keeps you full, feeds your brain, protects you from alzheimers and cancers. The dangerous foods are the carby ones.

Thanks for the quote from Dr. Perlmutter Julie!
