Wow, IWMTW, the difference in your face is amazing. You look like a different person! Very cute picture too!

Sara, hope all goes well with your little one's testing and evaluation.

Julie, I will try to find out some more information on the thought about cholesterol being higher then lower on a low carb diet.

Leftover steak for me today and some pork skins.

Morning everyone -

still didn't go get my HWC yesterday, so no BPC this morning again Was talking to DH last night about my lack of motivation & I brought up doing a meat/egg only for a couple of weeks to see if it would curb my cravings & he said "I like eggs, and I love meat.. so I'm down if it'll help you" So we're jumping back on the meat/eggs bandwagon starting today!!

breakfast: 2 boiled eggs with salt
lunch: tuna with mayo & boiled egg
Dinner: ground beef or burger patty with Fried Egg
Snack: Boiled eggs or bites of tuna if I get hungry

IWMTH- pics look great!! I think you look fabulous Thanks for the well wishes with DD, hoping it may be something that simple!!

Julie - on some of the other boards/books/articles I read in preparation for starting this WOE, I've read that in the first few weeks your cholesterol numbers may go up as your body adjusts to your new WOE, but after 2-3 weeks in (if you remain constant) then the numbers drop drastically. I don't have any specific article or book to quote here, I just know that I have read it several times. Hope you're able to get some answers!

Abigale - how are you friend? Are you still waking @ 3am for your day?! what time do you have to go to bed to rise that early?

Hope everyone stays on track and has a great day!

Hi Sara! Yes, I still get up at 2:30 or 3am every day except on weekends. It's more like 4am those days. I let myself "sleep in" lol. I usually go to bed around 7 and read a little. I think it is wonderful that your DH is going to eat meat and eggs to support your woe!

Hope everyone is having a great day so far...

Sara - that is so great your DH is working with you!
And thanks for the cholesterol info, I've probably read the same
article(s).

I just was reading up on the low dose of metoprolol the doctor
put me on. It is supposed to make me gain weight...
But because I have been bad lately it is probably more
me than the low dose metoprolol. One good thing is that I am
being more consistent with the jogging/walking and DH
is working with the walking which is what he does...

I am having 2 teeth extracted 12:30 today in preparation for
implants, its quite a process. I don't expect any real pain
since I have had 1 extracted for a bridge just taking it
easy today and probably have a protein shake...
B: Coffee/HWC
L: red rice
S: decaf coffee, Sarah's BPC - - yahoo!
D: protein shake with BPC added in...

Hope everyone sees losses today!

Morning ladies -

LAST DAY OF WORK FOR THE SUMMER

Julie - Hope the extration & dental work you're having done goes smooth and easy and you have a very quick recovery! I do hate when we have to take medication that interfere's with our WOE, you'd think with all the technological marvels today that they could find a way to make medicine work with your body instead of against it!

Abigale - Any hummingbirds lately? Are you getting to get outside as much as you wanted?

IWMTH - hope all is going well & you've gotten back on track after your carby weekend.

Boiled eggs, tuna with mayo & eggs, & steak or burger patty for dinner.

Hope everyone has a great day & stays on plan

Hi Julie, hope the extractions went well and you feel good today. Hope the medication is not causing weight gain. That would be a bummer!

Sara, I still see one or two hummingbirds feeding when I am home on the weekends. They are so cute.

Cooking up some eggs right now for egg salad for lunch today. Will scoop up with pork skins.

We are short handed at work and so things are a little crazy. The good thing is we are all learning different jobs to help out in different departments. The time just flys by!

Have a great day gang!

Sara/Abigale - thanks for the wishes, it went ok but got painful when he was taking out the abscess because I couldn't take the epinephrine...the real good drug. Thank God that is over... I was so mad at my other dentist for letting this go on for over a year(fired him)...For now I am just taking the penicillin, pain & cortisol, however worry about the cortisol making me gain weight but DH said since its only a week's worth, probably won't be too bad...?

Abigale that link looks good! Thanks!

I did jog this AM for 30 minutes... Just trying to get back to this, after Mom died it really helped with my stress. At that time I was up to an hour a day with extra on the weekend.... I am loving it...

Sara!...LAST DAY OF WORK FOR THE SUMMER...I am so jealous... Have a great summer off from work...

Sara, I am jealous too about you starting your summer vacation but happy for you too. Enjoy all the extra time with your little one and getting more done on that kitchen. We want some before and after pictures when it is all done!

I am going out to stack some more wood when it gets light out. To get it all stacked it will be 3 full rows which DH and I are doing 1/6 at a time or half a row at a time. He struggles with it because of all his back trouble so I am trying to help out. He did the first half row and I finished it last Saturday. Today I will do one more half row. At this pace it will take 4 more times of stacking.

Sara, you will be happy to know I am drinking a BPC right now. Mine is coffee, one Tbl of unsalted butter and 1 Tbl of coconut oil. I whipped it up in the room over the garage to not wake DH up. Boy it tastes so creamy!

Have not idea about what I am eating today. There are a couple of dollops of tuna salad and egg salad left from Thurs and Fri. so they will be breakfast sometime. Other than that I don't know. Need to grocery shop this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Afternoon everyone-

Posting from my kindle so my apologies for any auto corrected words!

Julie- so glad that is finally over for you!! Good to hear that you're up and running (no pun intended!)

Abigail- stacking wood is a serious workout, but it's so nice that you're helping dh out with it. That's a lot of wood!! I finally had my BPC this morning, oh how I'd missed it, cheers!

So far summer has been good. I've worked with DD on spoon feeding, baby signing, sorting shapes, and we've played outside in her kiddie pool this afternoon. Does anyone know how to get rid of the little water gnats that bite? They're yellowish and tiny but very very irritating! With you all being outdoorsy, thought y'all might have some good home remedies for them.

IWMTW- hope all is going well and you're seeing losses on the scale

Ill check in with you all later-

Sara, I don't know how to get rid of the water gnats but maybe some insect repellent on the skin would keep them biting?

Glad all that wood does not have to be stacked all at once! Doing the halfway stacks for about 30 to 40 minutes at a time is not too grueling. 3 more times should take care of it I think.

We are out to breakfast after church today and I will be having scrambled eggs and bacon. May make DH an asparagus casserole for dinner that he likes. It will be too carby for me but I will set aside afew bites of asparagus for sure.

I ended up having tuna salad and egg salad with pork skins yesterday.

Have a great day and I will check back later!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday

Motivation is at an all time low right now, lots of stress and stressful things have taken over my brain for the time being, things that are completely out of my control haven't been eating horribly, but haven't been strict to plan either..

I wonder if they make bug spray with Sun screen or something like that?

Sara, I googled using a combination sunscreen and insect repellent and found that it is not a good idea because you have to put the sunscreen on more often than you should put the insect repellent on.

Abigale - wow that's a lot of wood!
Sara - I'm with ya on the control thing, the meds are making me
feel so strange...I don't remember taking steroids before and
do not like them now... Only a couple of days left...
Otherwise doing good just taking it easy...reading a good book
by my favorite author so I am happy...
I'm not really on plan today, took DH out to Japanese, his choice...

New week new resolve...

Hope everyone is having a good day, nice warm sunny day here!

Sara, hang in there and the motivation will come back. This happens to all of us. Just keep eating as close to plan as you can.

Julie, sorry the meds are making you feel strange and glad you only have a few days left of them.

I just made some egg salad to take for lunch today. Will eat with pork skins as usual.

Mondays are hard to get motivated and I need to get some more chores done before heading out.

Have a great day gang!

I am back! Had a nice vacation, just way too much rain both in New York and Florida! I enjoyed it, though.

I ate way off plan - when I go to NY, I always have bagels and pizza because they are the best!

Hey guys! Sorry I've been MIA, but I've been busy! I haven't stuck to my plan everyday, and I just started the Fat Fast yesterday. I got word the other day that (luckily) my 9 days with the Army Reserves will keep me local instead of traveling, so I'll be home every night AND that means I can easily stick to plan!

My plan is an extended Fat Fast so I can pass my weight. I have a little more incentive to stick to plan, because if I can pass my weight AND my army APFT on/before August 1, then I am eligible for a pretty big lump sum bonus for extending. That would be a great start for my emergency fund!

I am a little bummed though. The other day, I received an e-mail for the two positions I applied for and the e-mail said that even though I am qualified, I was not one of the most highly qualified. It's a generic automated e-mail sent as they weed through applicants. I was stumped really because I have nearly 4 years experience doing the job full-time Active Duty which I would not think many people in this area would have the experience for, especially considering they have two positions open. I def thought I'd at least have an interview. Ironically, I also found out that another girl who applied with experience got the same e-mail as I did. We are wondering what's going on with that, because that doesn't make much sense. I half joked that perhaps it was someone trying to take care of people.. people with no experience but "highly qualified." In any event, the e-mail did state that if more applicants were later asked for by the employing agency that my application may be reviewed again for the position. So, I'm still crossing my fingers that it's possible.

As of yesterday mornings weigh in, I dropped from 169.1lbs to 166.3lbs. Not bad for my first day of my Fat Fast, but I'm sure it was water loses from my days eating lots of sodium, and even some carbage. I am eating more calories than the 1000 calories because since I can also potentially pass my weight by tape by losing inches, I know I should be exercising. So my goal is set at eating around 1300 calories, since I burn around 300-400 calories at the gym for a half hour on the elliptical. I was able to manage fat at 90% yesterday. Today it's at 88% because I wanted some cheese in an omelet this morning. I've also discovered that heating up macadamia nuts and later mixing in kerry gold butter w/ splenda brown sugar REALLY makes the macadamia nuts taste like they are smothered in caramel. I let it cool in the fridge for about a half hour, so it's somewhat of a luke warm but enough where the butter is solid. It tastes soooo good!

The only downside I am experiencing is way too much energy. I've been up since 2:30 am and even though I am tired, I am full of energy.

Plan to walk at least 1 mile around the office and possibly get on the bike, but lately I've been so exhausted I take a nap when I get home...

This is the real reason I am on A72 - for my health....I think if my Mom had followed the carb free WOE she would be alive today...
I hope you don't mind me sharing this

The following by dr perlmutter offers advice to get into a carb free diet...
I hear the same sentiment: itís too hard to stop eating carbs! Ladies and gentlemen, I hear you loud and clear. Without help, cutting back your carbs is no easy task, especially if theyíre a large part of your diet. But it doesn't have to be that challenging! With the following tips and tricks, youíll put your mind and stomach at ease. Youíll coast past this roadblock and come out feeling better than ever.

Fight fire with fire: Data shows that sugar cravings work like drugs cravings, acting on the same neurochemical pathways. This helps to explain the withdrawal effect seen on stopping carbohydrates. Understand that the discomfort you face is your body withdrawing from an addictive substance, and use this as fuel to push yourself forward. Donít allow a food to control you like a drug, and realize how much better youíll feel when you purge this addictive substance from your body.

Attack your cravings headĖon: While many of us would like to get healthy overnight, itís important to look at cutting carbs as a significant lifestyle change. Realize that this way of eating will take a little while to adapt to, and be ready to tackle the cravings when they come. Diffuse your carbohydrate cravings by having a supply of high quality snacks like nuts, cheese, meat and veggies on hand for the first few days of your transition. This isn't the time to worry about counting calories; just snack whenever the longing for carbs gets to you and youíll come out the other side better for it.

Donít sabotage yourself: The beginning of the carb-conscious journey is the hardest part. Donít make it tougher by hanging around Italian restaurants and dessert bars. Of course, life will go on around you, but thereís no need to start your diet the night before a charity pancake breakfast. Set yourself up for success by removing unnecessary temptation within reason. Bring lunch to work, so youíre not stuck deciding between unhealthy options.

Make a commitment: The biggest problem with diets is that we donít stay on them. Cutting back on carbs may be the best thing you do for your health, but if you backslide to your original way of eating after 2 months, your body will also revert to its prior state. Before you begin, ask yourself why you want to change. Take the before pictures, write down your reasons for change and make a real commitment to your health. A short-term diet is nothing compared to a lifestyle change. This is a long-term commitment to a healthier, brighter future.

Believe in your decision: Over the years, Iíve faced everything from curiosity to outright ridicule regarding my dietary choices. Some people will be appalled that you choose not to have a sandwich or will find something egregiously wrong with refusing a slice of pie. Mostly, they wonít understand why you eat so differently. You need to understand that as Americans, though we arenít bad or stupid people, we are not healthy people. Your goal is to be the healthiest you can be. Let others judge, and when they ask about your food, explain to them why youíre eating the way you are. Stay strong, and others will follow.

We had a thunderstorm around 2am this morning and had the loudest crash of thunder I have ever heard. It sounded like a bomb going off! Needless to say it made our computers quit working and it took me most of my time this morning trying to reset everything.

Will be back early in the morning. Have good evening everyone!
