Thanks JustMe_Sara! I was actually eating my ground beef before I saw the recipe, but I'll try it out in the future! I bought another 1lb for tomorrow. I wish ground beef was cheaper but it's looking like a rare thing on my shopping list these days. :/

Sara, all your recipes sound so delicious!

IWMTW, when I lose fat I see it in my face first. Fantastic on dropping some more. Best wishes on getting to 160 by Sunday!

Cheryl, I like the bbq flavored porks too but generally get the plain. I am bringing them today for lunch with tuna salad. I just scoop it up in them. One of my favorite meals

Not much going on here. Work is busy and since my friend quit last week they are pretty much having me do her job of running the label machine. It is pretty challenging at least for me! Lots of tweeks to get everything lined up on very small containers.

Have a great day gang!

Morning all -

Down a lb today! 186.6 - super happy!! I really think the bulletproof coffee is helping, it keeps my fat ratio up. That's really the only big diet change I've made in the last few weeks. I wasn't able to have it this morning, woke up late but I'll make one this evening with decaf when I get home.

Busy busy day for me today - last day of school for our students so we've got all the different graduation ceremonies + award ceremonies + closing down both kitchens + faculty/staff appreciation and awards ceremony this afternoon!

I'll check back later! hope everyone has a great day & stays on plan -

Good morning everyone! Well the scale was up, if I remember correctly, 2oz. Probably the cheese and pepperoni I snacked on? I'm not too sure but I will be upping my water today, and eating pretty clean.

You know for me, I've lost nearly 40lbs now since August through mostly calorie counting and stints of low carb, and on/off working out. It wasn't until last month that I finally dropped a dress size or two after all that. And now that I'm back low carbing (or rather M/E) to lose this weight faster, I can see changes just as fast.. so it surprises me that I can finally see the results of my efforts.

My face is getting thinner, neck, and my stomach is finally shrinking. A workout shirt I put on this morning that I haven't worn in years, fits much more comfortably than I know it would have this past winter. It's not tight, but it's not lose. Just comfortable enough to work out in without my stomach sticking out. I am liking these changes!

Hopefully my couple oz up on the scale this morning will show a bigger loss for me tomorrow. It did last time I was up a few oz!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

have a great safe trip Cheryl!!

YAY Julie for the loss!

IWMTH - hope you saw the loss you were hoping for this morning!

Stayed same today @ weigh in - 186.6 but I'll take it! Had our staff/faculty appreciation luncheon and I had chicken tortilla soup minus tortillas, beef fajitas minus tortillas, some chips & salsa, and a BIG margarita Carb count was WAY over I'm sure, but .. it was worth it

Back on track today, had my BPC this morning, it was delicious. I can't believe I didn't try it sooner. It's become a morning must have for me.

Closing down the kitchen today so will be busy. Will check back after work to see how everyone is doing.

Hope everyone stays on plan and sees losses!!

Hi everyone! Well, again, the scale was up. I can't figure it out. Anyways, I ate off plan for a lunch date with a friend today. Maybe that will help mix things up! I had a burger and fries and we shared dessert. Already back on plan! I have to start running really... I've been neglecting it!

On the plus side, I am now wearing 9/10s! I went to my favorite store, where I had just bought 11/12's 6 weeks prior. Since they were loose, I decided to try some on. Glad I did! It made my day. So close now! I was wearing 8's for a long time so I know I am getting closer.

Sara, isn't BPC wonderful!

IWMTW, in 9/10's !!!! What a great feeling that must be for you! I always tell people if the scale is not showing a loss even if you are watching what you eat, your clothes will tell the true story.

More tuna salad today with pork skins. Plan to drink more water. Don't know if we will be grilling out today. That usually is DH's call.

Have a great day gang!

Hi everyone! Back on plan today. I'm not going to weigh myself for another day or two since the scale will be tricking me these next few days after my carby meals from yesterday, lol.

I put in my application for the two Army Reserve positions on Thursday. Now I am just waiting to see what happens. I'm not too familiar with the process, so I'm just going to cross my fingers.

On another note, I have to improve my run in hopes of passing my run time. It's another thing I'm "flagged" for. But what's nice about losing weight is that it aids in running faster since there isn't as much weight on your knees. I forgot the actual number, but I know one estimate says that a 10lb weight loss can reduce your run time by as much as 20 seconds per mile, and I have to run two miles. For me, that additional 40 seconds could help me pass my run. I'm fairly confident that I should pass HT/WT, but I'm going to run daily until my test. More of sprints one day, and two mile running the next.

Good luck with your efforts IWMTW - - you can do it!
I have lagged on plan for a few days but I'm back on !!
I feel so much better, I really must have some gluten
allergy because I get sick to my stomach every time
I eat this stuff...

I will miss Maya Angelou, I was fortunate to hear her
speak at a women's conference. Today, I was watching the Oprah Channel and she had Maya Angelou on. Maya was talking about her favorite Mother's red rice and interestingly my Mom used to make a version of this as well...hmm
Here is my low carb version - - yummy

6 slices of bacon cut up
1 slice onion chopped
1 bag shirataki rice
Walden Farms Basil tomato sauce
Fry the first ingredient until about half done, add onion
cooking until translucent. Drain & wash rice in colander.
Add rice and tomato sauce, simmer and serve with
two tabs of butter...
About 1 carb per serving.
Miracle Rice from netrition...
Yummy

Julie, your red rice recipe sounds delicious!

This is one of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes:

We cooked out chicken drumsticks yesterday and may do steaks today. After church we will go to our usual restaurant for breakfast. I will have my usual 2 scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. Will treat myself to cream in my coffee.

Will check back later to see how everyone is doing. Have a great day!

Well scale is still up this morning from my Friday off plan eating, and possibly even all the salt I had yesterday. Hopefully by tomorrow the scale will even out! So, obviously I did not make it to 160lbs today but that's okay! I would love to see that number around the 20th, and I'm not far from it.

I bought some green tea tablets at the store, and coconut oil. I'm trying to find healthier alternatives to up my metabolism while I start upping my cardio this next week. I made soup last night (hence tons of salt lol) and added cayenne and turmeric. It wasn't really spicy, but I'm trying to eat things that also reduce inflammation in the body. I do like soup, but the only problem is the scale isn't as accurate when I eat more of the stuff. Damn you sodium, lol!

Rachel Ray makes a low sodium soup, so I might just start buying that instead and add Nusalt.

I've heard good things about turmuric. Need to do more research. You are so close to 160, I am sure by the 20th or before you will hit that number.

So I went to the gym today to only find that it is closed until June 13th! Blah! At least I went for a walk this morning.

I'm totally crossing my fingers! Since I added 2tbsp of coconut oil this morning to my coffee, I'm finding that I have to force myself to eat all day. It's almost 7pm my time, and I just made up an egg cream just so I get more calories in for the day. Even with this, I'm still at 1335 calories for the day, which is not bad at all. I have to at least get over 1200 calories a day. I'm the type that will not show any losses on the scale at 1200 calories or lower.

Bummer about the gym being closed until the 13th IWBTW but good you took a walk.

I found a notebook I made from afew years back that has notes I took as I read Good Calories/Bad Calories. It also had some quotes from some low carb bloggers in it. One quote tried to put into layman's terms how your fat cannot be released and remains trapped as you raise your insulin levels by eating carbohydrates. One note that might have been written by Taubes around page 466 said, "removing carbohydrates from the diet leads to a drop in insulin levels, which causes fatty acids to be liberated from the fat tissue and made available to be used as a fuel supply."

I have this image of these little fatty acids behind bars crying "let us out" and then getting this burst of energy as they are liberated. lol

Tuna salad, leftover steak and pork skins today. Have a great day gang full of energy!!

Good Morning/almost afternoon all

Gross stormy day here today, last night was a rough one for us. Tornado watches/warnings & LOTS of sky to ground lightning Our root cellar still isn't safe for us to take shelter in, so I've been working on cleaning out our DD inner closet (will be a play area but right now it's just storage!) to set up as a makeshift safe room until we can get the root cellar in some sort of safe shape for us.

Scale still hasn't budged, sitting @ 186.6 but I have eaten off plan over the weekend. Not too much, but enough to keep me stalled out. Back on plan today though! Have to do some quick grocery shopping this afternoon, almost out of Coconut Oil, Butter, & Heavy Cream.. CAN'T live without those

IWMTH - YAY on the 9/10!! It's so nice to be surprised at a loss in clothing size, always makes my day Hope you're able to get your running numbers down.

Julie - that rice sounds fabulous, will have to find some of the special rice & try it out!!

Abigale - I periodically run across old journals of mine, it's so neat to go back and read where you were & what your thoughts were years ago.

Hope everyone stays on track & see's losses today

Hi Julie! Glad you got a kick out of my image. lol Some where along the line someone in the family borrowed my GC/BC book and Wheat Belly. Loved the info in those two books. I originally got back interested in eating low carb after reading a magazine article by Gary Taubes in 2008. Then couldn't wait for his book to come out. Still want to read his "Why We Get Fat" book.

Sara, sorry you are having to worry about tornadoes again! That is one thing I don't miss about when we lived in Alabama. We had damage to two different homes down there. Very frightening!

IWMTW, sure wish I had to force myself to eat each day. You are in a good spot!

Have a great day gang!

Abigale, Have you read anywhere about the effects of LC diet and cholesterol? I was pretty strict with myself 2-3 months before I went for physical and thought my cholesterol would be higher(which it was) and then after a few more months on LC, cholesterol would even out or be lower...??

Tuesday 6/10
B: coffee/HWC
S: koolaide, 2 pieces bacon/3 pieces pork rinds
L: tuna salad(homemade), pork rinds 1.2oz
D: may go out to eat...maybe steak/salad
S: SF pudding made with almond milk

Have gone back to jogging, walking & stair walking, it really helps my stress...!
Lost 1 pound ... yahoo on the way back from being bad over the weekend...!

Hope everyone sees a loss on the scale today...

Morning all -

Random post of the day - There is a fly in my office & it is about to drive me mad!!!

Didn't weigh today, feeling pretty bloated & puffy, so gonna push the water today. Wasn't able to get to the store yesterday so no BPC this morning Hopefully will get there this evening & I'll make it with decaf to get my fat % up for the day.

I've been struggling with cravings the last few days I seem to have been losing motivation for being strict with this WOE & I can't figure out why but I need some motivating words or books or whatever!! I'm sure part of it is that I haven't been able to make up my meals or snacks ahead of time, so EVERYTHING looks good. This is my last weeks @ work, so hopefully by Friday I'll be able to get things back in check in my head.

Next week is going to be crazy busy. DD finally has her evaluation for Early Childhood Interventsion so we will be able to have her in full time thearpy - 5 days a week vs 1 (Pt/OT/ST) over the summer to hopefully get her caught up or at least progressing more quickly. Then Wednesday/Thursday/Friday we will travel to Children's in Little Rock for an audiology appt (to check her ears & hearing), Pediatric ENT appointment (to check the roof of her mouth and speech issues), & Pediatric Gastrointerologist to check her stomach/intestines to make sure she is absorbing the nutrients she needs, then back home for her follow up eye app on Friday!!

Hope everyone stays on plan & see's losses!!

Good morning everyone! I am still up on the scale.

Typically, I'd just add or increase my cardio but the gym is closed for a few more days. So, I'm going to do more of a Fat Fast these next few days hoping to get back down and under the 165.4lbs mark, which was last weeks low. I'm still aiming to see the infamous 160lb number on the scale, so hopefully this will kick start some things.

B: 3tbsp HWC, 2 serv mozzerella, 1 serv pepperoni
S: tea w/ 2 tbsp coconut oil
L: chicken broth w/ 3 tbsp Kerry Gold Butter
S: 1 hard boiled egg

= 1120 calories, 90% fat, 9% protein, 1% carbs

I also wanted to attach a picture I was looking at this morning. A nearly 40lb difference as shown through my face! Sometimes I forget how far I've come to get to the weight I am today, though a very slow weight loss. I started my journey towards the end of August/early September at 203lbs, and mostly calorie counted with ended up mostly sticking to low carb. I've had those days or weeks where I ate moderate carbs, or went off plan for the holidays, but in the end, I am where I am because I keep pushing through in hopes of seeing my eventual goal.

Sara - you can do it...hang in there...I had a carb weekend and am just getting back to square one...
Will be thinking of your DD, my son had a tympanogram at 2.5yrs and his was flat - he had so much fluid in his ears...so was the explanation of his slow development in speech and in other areas...
