Hi everyone,

Went back to work on Weds. and it was not fun. I am getting around better, but can't do stairs very well (especially going down), but what really did me in was being on my feet all day. I just can't teach sitting down, not only because of the interactive nature of my classes, but also because if I sit, I can't see the kids behind their monitors, and some of them bear constant watching.

I kind of think I'm doing too much too fast, but there's no happy medium, no half schedules. I have a step counter app on my phone, and by the end of my first day back I had walked about 2.5 miles, just getting to and from work and walking around all day in and between my classes. The doctor did an ultrasound of my ankle the day he cleared me to go back to work, and said that everything looked ok except for some residual pockets of inflammation, so I guess I just have to grin and bear it. I do have another appointment on the 13th so he can see how I'm doing. I've been giving the bags of frozen veggies a good workout when I get home at night, because my ankle is sore by then.

I tried getting back into my up/down day rotations last week, but felt very shaky on the down days, even though I ate more calories than usual on a down day. I suppose it's because of the stress on my body from the injury and recovery. Anyway, I decided to try P1 for a while and see how that works. Today's planned menu:

B - fried egg, Canadian bacon, LC light cheese, decaf with a splash of 2%
L - grilled pork loin, salad
D - probably egg salad, pickled onions and sliced tomatoes, not sure yet

I have some dry-roasted almonds, mini Babybel light cheese and other SB-friendly stuff for snacks, too.

Kelly - bummer about your back! Hope the treatments help. Congrats on the promotion!

Wiz - I'm glad you've been able to get out and run. The weather has turned nice here, too, so I'm hoping to get out in my garden for a bit today, ankle permitting.

Tina - did you get your seeds planted? I started so many last year, flowers and vegetables, but had to keep covering them up with plastic because we had snow so late in the year (our last snowfall was April 30!). Not sure what I'm going to do this year, although I did buy a bunch of summer-flowering bulbs on sale (dahlias, lilies, etc.)

Cindy - hang in there, and enjoy your time with your DGS.

Have to get moving because I've got a lot to do today, so bye for now! Hope we all have a great week.

DH and I rented it; I was disappointed. I found it boring. So I agree - not sure why it was up for the awards it was.

Thanks Wiz for the above. Didn't think my comment was out of place, as we have had a few people just randomly popping in, and thought it was odd. I guess I won't/don't post in threads where there definitely is some history, etc.
And as you said; we have been together for years, and are all friends......

Luisa - One day at a time!!!

I have kind of been off kilter here for a week or so - not sure if it's because of DD's move or what. Need to get back to it as well. Again, it's not so much what I am eating, but maybe more of how much.

Celebrated DSIL's bday yesterday for dinner - DSIL #2 was able to join us. We facetimed with DD in FL.

Supposed to be upper 40's today and tomorrow!

Hi Girls,
Had a relaxing weekend I must report this is the first weekend I have actually lost weight on a weekend This calorie counting thing is working for me!! I changed my siggy weight to reflect my true weight right now because I like being able to adjust it in a downward motion when I lose

I cleaned house and did some shopping. We watched Gravity, I thought it was ok, special effects were good, but yeah not the best movie I have seen all year. Dallas Buyers Club was wayyyy better!! If you guys havent seen it, its a must see!! We also watched the new Hunger Games, Catching Fire, I have read all the books so have to see the movies and the first one was Michaels and I's first movie date together, so its kinda sentimental for me

Final week of my class this week, I have to turn in my final papper and take a quiz, then I am done for almost a month Super excited about that!

The beer I drank was Reds Strawberry Ale, let me say that was good stuff!!

Luisa- Good to see you back!!

Wiz- I dont even want to talk about summer clothes, most of my winter stuff still doesnt fit me lol. We are going to Vegas in just a little over a month, so I need to get my body in way better shape before then!

Here is todays menu:

b- steel cut oats w/ cinnamon apples
s- Nature Valley bar
l- chicken enchilada & refried beans
s- slice of lc bread w/pb
d- chicken cordon bleu on lc bun

Grandma daycare today!

Don't get the opportunity to overeat, that's for sure!

Loved Dallas Buyers Club!
Also watched Wolf of Wall Street, Nebraska and American Hustle. DBC was the best I thought!

Hello all!

Got a 5-mile run in this morning, felt great. Yesterday's eating was okay, although I did have a lite beer in the afternoon. Am definitely on track today.

Luisa, I hope you can take it easy, it doesn't seem right to have that much pain.

Cindy, have fun with your grandson!

Kelly, nice work on the weekend weight loss!

Oh Miss Tina...where are you??

Back to work.

Morning Beachers!

Forgot to pop in and post yesterday! Didn't get up to work out this morning so I'll be doing some weight videos tonight.

I have got to get my weekend eating under control. I gained SEVEN lbs this weekend. Thats crazy. On top of that I also don't think the med increase was enough for my thyroid. I am going for blood work at the end of the month again. Dr. appt in april.

Luisa - I did get my seeds planted this weekend. Although I have NO idea what I'm doing. I did it anyway. I also bought 6 dahlia bulbs. They are a yellow ish orange color. (at least on the package, lol)

Kel - Awesome job losing this weekend! Thats great!

Cindy -

Wiz - Here I am!

Back to work!

I got NO sleep last night and feel crummy today, so I took the morning off from exercising. Although it is pretty warm here today, so I may slip in a brisk 30 minute walk at lunch time. Not much new to report...off to VA tomorrow for work.

Tina, you sound like me. I can gain weight so quickly, and then it takes 10 weeks to come off. sigh...

Hi Girls,
Weight was the same this morning, I think the counting calories is a slower loss pace, but as long as things go in the right direction, I dont care!!

Todays is my lil guys bday, 7 yrs old. We are just having cake at the house tonight, his actual party is on Saturday.

Gonna turn in the last of my school work today, will feel nice to be done!

On Sunday is Michaels bday and we are doing the Shamrock Run, taking the dog along too. Its downtown and a bunch of our friends are doing it too, I need to buy green stuff for us to wear! At the end I think you get corn chowder and beer, eww and eww. I will give mine to someone else lol. It will be fun though!!

Doc appt Monday for my annual womanly exam, those are always fun, and then doc appt Tuesday to see the other specialist about my back. Good times

The week of the 24th I am off work the whole week for Spring Break, gonna spend it wil the kiddos. Cant wait!!

Here is todays menu:

b- bfast sandwich on lc bun
l- chicken enchilada & refried beans
s- nature valley bar
d- chicken stir fry

Good Morning Beachers!

Still struggling with food! So freaking annoying! Supposed to start snowing here this afternoon. Not looking forward to that either. I sound like I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Kel - What is the shamrock run?

Wiz - At least your DH will be with you this trip!

Cindy - Hope you are feeling better today.

Luisa - I got little sprouts in some of plantings! So excited!

Have a great hump day beachers!

Hi Girls,
Woke up with a headache this morning and I guess I kept Michael up a good portion of the night because I was grinding my teeth He went and slept on the couch for awhile. I just took some meds, hopefully my headache goes away. I think its from stress about this dang project I am working on at work, the customer is super mean to me and complains about everything! Even when he is in the wrong, he somehow finds a way to make it my fault. Not fun and I have a huge meeting with them today so I guess it was affecting me in my sleep.

Anyway, weight was the same today, I took a few bites of lil mans bday cake last night and snuck a few of his french fries from dinner. Hoping I see the scales move by tomorrow. I may have to cut my calories a lil more. Right now I am doing 1559 per day right now as my goal, thinking I will move it to 1500.

Tina- How many do you try to stick to per day? We also planted seeds the other day and have some sprouts, the broccoli is taking off, but thats about it so far lol.

Cindy- Hope your feeling better!

Wiz- Have fun on your trip, even if it is for business

Here is todays menu:

b- bfast sandwich
s- pretzels and hummus
l- chicken enchilada & refried beans
s- nature valley bar
d- spaghetti made with dreamfields & ground turkey

Oh I also forgot to tell ya about what the Shamrock Run is, its a St. Patricks Day thing here in town, annual event. They have runs and walks, we are doing the 5K walk, we can bring our doggy too!

It happens to fall on Michaels Bday this year, people dress up and last year our friend that was in it was on the news lol. At the end they give you a green beer and a cup of corn chowder. Just something fun to do and get a lil exercise!!

Hi Ladies!

Grandma daycare is over.
I am hoping this cold is headed in the other direction.
Eating was pretty good for being home the last how many days and I haven't left the house since SUNDAY! I am looking forward to going to work!

No plans for the upcoming weekend. It feels weird because DD24 would be home almost every other weekend. I hope she and DSIL can hang in there - she said it was 100 days from yesterday till he comes down. She loves her new job however, and feels like she actually fits in there. Check out Rifle Paper Co. That's her now. She's working on some really cool projects and actually had to sign a confidentiality agreement because of some of the clients they work with!!!

Love and hugs - and so appreciate you ladies - you don't even know!

Morning Beachers!

Had a good food and exercise day yesterday! Now to string a few together!

Tomorrow is DH and my anniversary. 22 years. DH is insisting we need to "go out". Which is probably going to consist of dinner out, walmarting, and maybe going to GNC. We are party animals. We'd usually do a movie but there is nothing out that we really want to see.

I am thinking of trying the Quest Nutrition bars. That's the reason for the GNC visit.

Kel - Shamrock run sounds like a good time! Hope your head is feeling better today!

Cindy - Hope your cold is gone today!

Wiz - How's Virginia?

Luisa - I've got TONS of sprouts!

Happy Thursday Beachers!

Hi Girls,
My headache is gone, but now I have a small cough, hoping it doesnt develop into anything major! Im sucking down the vitamins today

Got my quiz done for my class last night, I am officially done!! Super happy about that. I actually have sandles on today, its going to be in the 60s which will feel like summer to me lol. Then rain tomorrow, but back to nice weather for the weekend!!

Weight was the same this morning, need to see a loss soon. I guess maybe I should add in exercise and see what happens. I havent tried those new DVDs I got through Groupon yet, need to check them out. Im thinking I will start those on Monday, they are only 30 mins so I can do them in the morning before work.

Lil mans last swim lesson is tonight, need to talk to his dad about signing him up for another session, he is scared to put his face in the water, so he didnt learn a whole lot He wants to play basketball too, so we are signing him up for that this weekend. Will be funny to watch lil 7 year olds trying to play lol. He thinks he is a pro lol.

I made a very interesting recipe the other night, have you guys ever heard of brownies made with no flour, you use black beans in the blender with a bunch of other ingredients, they are actually really good!! Let me know if you guys want the recipe. Lil man tried a bite last night and he couldnt believe they were made with beans lol.

Here is todays menu:

b- lc bfast sandwich
s- nature valley bar
l-roasted chicken & corn
s- yogurt parfait
d- spaghetti w/dreamfields

Morning Beachers!

TGIF!

Dinner tonight with DH for our anniversary, visiting my momma this weekend, then not sure about the rest of it. Probs some cleaning, which seems never ending.

DS has been with his gf for 2 years tomorow and he is having roses delivered to her at school. He wanted to send her two dozen, but that ended up being a little cost prohibitive.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all,

Down 4.4 lbs. since Monday on P1, and very lucky at that, because I went off plan big time on Thurs. and Fri. evening (DH bought me some "medicinal" wine, chocolate and popcorn to make me feel better, so of course I felt obliged to consume them ). I am back on track today, and have just made a batch of roasted green beans with a couple of roasted cabbage wedges as well for the week ahead. DH is also grilling me a bunch of chicken breasts.

I saw the doc on Thursday a.m. and he said I am ready for rehab on my ankle (which is usually quite sore and tired by the time I get home from work). I have my first session on Monday and will have to have at least 10 before I see the doc again. I never dreamed in a million years that I had hurt my ankle so badly! So this weekend I have to get some new workout-type shorts, because nothing I have is fit to be seen in public.

Tina - How was your anniversary dinner? I bought a bunch of seeds today, as well as two blueberry bushes! (tiny things that will probably take a couple years to get going, but that was all they had). I found snow pea and pattypan squash seeds, which are almost never seen in Spain. I will also be planting lettuce and tomatoes, kale and probably spaghetti squash, as well as my usual herbs and flowers.

Kelly - Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned! I had heard of the bean brownies, and a bean bread as well. I even saved the recipes way back when, but never tried them. Maybe I should dig them out.

Cindy - Hope you're feeling better!

Wiz -

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy St Patrick's day!! I usually feel like Spring is right around the corner on this day every year, but we got pelted with yet another overnight snowstorm and it is a balmy 23 degrees out. UGH!!

Cindy, I looked up the Rifle Paper Company website. I love the look of their designs and I can absolutely seeing your daughter (based on her own work) really contributing there. Very cool!

Luisa, you made me laugh about the workout shorts comment! On a more serious note, 10 weeks of rehab sounds grueling. Hang in there.

Kelly, how was the 5K? Hope you had good weather for it. It was gorgeous here on Saturday, we were out on our bikes for the first time in months!

Tina, Happy Anniversary!! Hope you had a great dinner out.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hi Girls,
We had a blast yesterday for Michaels bday and the Shamrock walk/run. I am a little hungover today though! First time I have drank vodka in I dont know how long lol. Plus I didnt consume enough water. Back on track today, busy at work and have to order my supplies for my next class that starts in April. Not looking forward to it, its a statistics class

Good news is I am down another pd!! Today marks 2 weeks I have been counting calories and down a total of 6 pounds, not shabby considering I havent had to cut anything out.

Not much time today, have a great week girls, back to work for me!!

Hello Beachers!

Weekend eat was horrible again! No call back from the doctor again today either. I just found out she is out sick today tho. Hoping for a call tomorrow.

Wiz - We had a balmy 28 today! UGH!

Kel - I tried the black bean brownies before. I thought they were AWESOME! lol I remember Cindy used to make a bread with the northern beans, I think.

Luisa - 10 weeks! Yikes!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

In the interest of clarity... 10 sessions, not 10 weeks. Maybe a month, at the rate of 2-3 sessions per week. Had the first one today and about died of boredom as I just sat there while my foot was attached to electrodes (TENS unit?) or under an ice pack, or being massaged (ow ow ow, it hurt my plantar fasciitis worse than my ankle!), a total of one hour. Next time I am bringing my Kindle. I now have an intricate blue tape design and my foot feels totally wiped out.

Hi Beach Babes!

Wiz - thanks for taking a look! Yes, she certainly fits in there. I still can't believe she is there - we literally thought this was a pipe dream and kept humoring her with all of the materials she kept sending in - her theory was and I kept agreeing - until She (Anna Bond, the owner) says NO, she is not giving up. She didn't and it paid off!!!

I caved to some cupcakes I made - ugh, and I know better. I did get a new book suggested by an over 50's friend on another board "Strong Women Stay Young", and am reading it in hopes that I can start moving forward with incorporating some weight training.....supposed to be very doable with equipment you can have at home and you start out with two days a week?

I can't wait to head to FL in about 23 days!!!! I am so sick of winter!

Good morning!!

Still so cold and dreary here. I cannot believe our yard is covered in snow again. And when looking at the 10-day forecast, it really doesn't look that much warmer.

So I definitely had some beer out with friends yesterday for St Patty's, but all in all, I behaved myself. Eating was very good - having a SBD friendly dinner pre-made was a smart move. No giving into something quick like pizza!

Cindy, we go to FL (Key West) in 16 days!!

Louisa, OK, 10 sessions sounds much more doable than 10 weeks.

Kelly, good for you on the 6 lbs!!

But I am having trouble getting past the BEAN brownies that you and Tina are talking about. It just doesn't sound that appetizing.

Nice slow work day here...my only conference call was cancelled! I plan to catch up on emails, meeting notes I need to issue, expense vouchers, etc. My goal is to have a clean slate at the end of today!!

Hi Girls,
Looks like the St Pattys Day festivies caught up to me on the scale, up a slight tick today, so hoping its back down by tomorrow. I know I didnt drink enough water over the weekend.

We dont have anything planned this next weekend, just hanging out with the kiddos and hopefully working on our garden. We got some cinder blocks yesterday and started getting them set up in the backyard, but need to get more and get some dirt. We have tons of seedlings growing in the house and the garage lol. Dirt and plants everywhere! I will be happy when its all outside. Supposed to be in the mid 60s here this weekend, that will be nice!

I leave work early today to go see that specialist about my back, the 2nd opinion and get info about the injection therapy. I need to find out how much it costs and how much my insurance will cover, if its super spendy for out of pocket, I wont be able to do it.

Not much else to report. Just trying to keep my motivation going, so far, so good!

Here is todays menu:

b- lc bfast sandwich
s- nature valley bar
l- tuna noodle casserole made with dreamfields
s- pretzels & hummus
d- pork fajitas

Kelly

Hey gang...new recipe. We really loved it.

Sweet Potato and Chicken Sausage Soup

1 TB Olive Oil
12 oz fully cooked chicken sausage (I used Al Fresco Red Pepper flavor, very low in fat and had a great smoky flavor), sliced
1 large onion, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 medium sized sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
1 teas dried thyme
1 teas fennel seeds
1 14-oz can petite diced tomatoes
2 14-oz cans low salt chicken broth
1 bag of fresh baby spinach (I used about 6 oz of baby spinach, stems removed)

Heat olive oil in large pot over med high heat. Add onions and celery, cook until softened. Add garlic and sliced chicken sausage. Cook for about 2 more mins. Add potatoes and thyme, fennel seeds then cook until softened, about 10 mins. Stir often. Add tomatoes and broth, bring to boil, scraping up any browned bits. Reduce to simmer, cook for 20 minutes. Soup will thicken slightly.

At this point, you can cool and refrigerate if making in advance. Bring to room temp and then heat to a good simmer. Add spinach and stir until wilted. Serve immediately.

I had a good day yesterday.
I am just trying to exercise portion control.

That soup sounds amazing Wiz!

Kelly - don't think we will be planting anytime soon - coating of snow on the ground AGAIN! So sick of it and just want to move on - even to more spring like clothing and NO SOCKS!!!

Soup and salad day at work - another two of our team are bringing in - I think a Thai soup? Not sure - I will just be smart about bfast and dinner since I am not sure what the menu will be.

Have a great hump day!

Good morning!

I got a 5-mile run in outside, but it was windy and cold. And I just looked at the forecast, we are due for more snow early next week. Enough already!

Cindy, that soup recipe was originally from Bon Appetit, but I tweaked it significantly to be SBD friendly. I've done well this winter adding some new dishes to our weekday repertoire! I feel so blah making the same old things all the time.

Kelly, good to see you are getting that 2nd opinion. You don't want to mess around with anything to do with your neck!

We're thinking of going out for 2 for 1 burgers tonight...I can get mine with no roll and a side salad - plus they have this brushetta-topped burger that I love.

Have a good day!
