Well, it looks like I'm pretty set to begin induction style eating tomorrow... so strange to go shopping for butter and eggs...and I'd be remiss if I didn't share that I had a tad bit of excitement at the chance to be able to buy some bacon I'm a tad rusty at Atkins-style eating, it's been awhile but I'm sure it'll all come back to me.. I'm browsing through my book this weekend to brush up on things and remind myself that I am making a good choice by going back to this.. What I DO know is that ultra low calorie counting plans do not work for me
Coconut cream is AWESOME In coffee.....I make my BPC with it all the time!

I came home and slept 8 hrs! Lmbo...then I went to Braums and got a banana split for dinner. No exercise or healthy eating points for me today but it was exactly what I needed! Will read through the entire thread tomorrow and try and catch up! Thanks for holding down the fort during crunch time! I've missed you guys!

Congratulations on a job well done.

I'm attending a friend's Calçotades today (Spanish/Catalan seasonal event).

Quote:
Calçotades take place at rural restaurants, in countryside farms, or in the gardens and rooftops of people’s homes. Calçots (like very large Spring Onions/scallions) are grilled on large charcoal grills until the outer layers are charred, wrapped in newspapers to keep them warm, and served on curved terracotta roof tiles.
Romesco, or its close cousin salvitxada, are an important accompaniment to calçots. These are sauces made from nuts (usually hazelnuts, almonds, pine nuts or walnuts), local nyora peppers or bitxo chillies (regular red peppers can be substituted), and olive oil.
It will be a charming event and, as you can see, it's centred around vegetables and then oranges

Tyl, congratulations! It sounds like you did a great job and you deserved the celebration.

Slow, that sounds like a delightful and delicious event to attend.

I am just waiting for coffee to brew, then I am off to pick up my friend for the race. The DHs are coming to drop us off near the starting line (otherwise we have to take a shuttle) and will probably go out for a big breakfast while we do our six miles. They have done this before.

We are walking for the most part. I haven't been training to run. I decided to try to get some weight off first to make it easier on my foot (still not 100% after surgery).

It will be a beautiful day and the course is all along the ocean so it is all good.

I'll come back tonight to check in and count up points.

Tyl, AWESOME job on the presentation......I knew you'd rock it!

Slowsure, that event sounds lovely.....I don't like onions AT ALL....but the event itself sounds charming, I hope you have a wonderful time!

Gina, 6 miles walking is very impressive....way to go! Hey, what part of the coast are you on? It's pretty cloudy today here by Long Beach, perfect weather for walking!

Hi All.

The race was very nice, I wound up running a fair bit because my friend walks much faster than I do. It was just easier to keep up with her by trotting alongside. We finished with a 15:17 pace which is pretty good for walking.

But they were out of bananas.

Tammy, we are up near Santa Cruz. It is overcast and was drizzely this morning. Light, warm rain is my favorite running weather so no complaints from me.

In June I graduate with my associates in Registered Veterinary Technician medicine. I am working on my bachelors in Zoology and environmental biology, so I hope to be done with that in the next 1.5- 2 years. I wanted to go to vet school, I still might, depends I guess on how I feel when that day comes. Vet school is a lot more school and money, which at my age means no family, which currently I am not planning on having kids but I know that can change. Either way, if I go to vet school or not, I want to work with wild life specifically big cats and greater apes

Finally hit the 50 pound mark! That means I lost the 5 pounds this week to get to 293.4! I have been working so hard, so it was exciting to see it pay off. I wanted to lose 50 pounds by now, but losing 50 pounds in 2 months probably wasn't realistic lol, but 3 is good too. I hope I can lose another 50 by June, but we will see. My husband told me he would buy me an elliptical next month for birthday because now he can see that I am serious. I also told him I am getting a tattoo for every 50 pounds that I lose, so I told him to pay up haha.

The event was super - it was also quite funny that there was a illustrated guide as to how to eat the calcots done in the form of paper place mats. The images were based on a photograph of me when I attended the inaugural event 4 years ago. All the genuine Catalans who attended that event and the illustration was of me -

I've been flying round between hospital appointments this week (Monday eve., Wednesday eve. and tonight) to get the assessment and labs done for my musculo-skeletal and sarcopenia conundrums.

Managing to CTC despite the time-crunches - hope the same is true for everyone else. Sorry for the lack of scoring - I'm disappearing round myself (as my mother would have said).

Good luck to fellow CTCers

Congratulations Tyl! That is exciting about the new project.

Slow, I am glad you had a good time at your party and I hope you get some encouraging news from your tests.

I have been doing OK CingTC. I had a little drop this morning that may save my week from being a non-loss. Our friends wound up staying an extra day, which was nice, but it meant one more day of out to dinner and a candy shop. I managed though and it all worked out.

I don't know if any of you have heard of the new "Common Core" in schools (a pretty big change in what and how we teach), but it has taken over my life right now. Trainings, meetings, trainings, collaborations, more training........

Good morning ladies,

So glad to see people checking in, I was afraid we were losing our group!

Tyl, way to girl, we are SOOOOO PROUD of you!!! You deserve the recognition and opportunity!

Slowsure, that's great about your image being in the guide.....too cute!! Please keep us posted about your test results and what the doctors say.

Tracy, I haven't heard about the new Common Core, my kids are long out of school, thank heavens!! I feel for you though, life has a crazy way of taking over and derailing us.....good for you for persevering and even having a loss despite friends visiting and work chaos!

I hope everyone else is doing well.....things are great here, still doing dairy free and loving it! I still have the ringing in my ears, but it's barely been a week and a half, I expect it will take a few weeks to see improvement there. In the meantime I have lost 5 pounds by dropping the dairy, so I'll keep it up!

Happy Friday!!

Tyl, between HWC, Cream cheese and regular cheese I was consuming A LOT every day......at least 30 - 40% of my calories were dairy. Now that I've found such good dairy free substitutes I don't have to alter my menus, which is really helpful....this would be harder otherwise.

I use coconut cream (in a can) anywhere I used regular cream before. I seem to tolerate butter OK, but Earth Balance soy free spread is pretty good.

I miss hard cheese. I bought some almond milk cheddar and it is OK melted or mixed into something, but isn't good enough to eat straight.

There are some coconut milk ice creams (not LC) that are good. Trader Joe's strawberry is my favorite.

I can't do the points at present - but I still eat on plan and I keep up my activities (except that I missed my personal training session last week because I was so tired that I could scarcely stand).

I'm getting some physiotherapy tonight and I've been including those exercises daily.

Although I'm not expecting to have a plan to 'fix' the sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass/quality) it will be good if anyone can tell me why it happened so rapidly and if there's something that I can do to slow its progress. I always tend to think that things will improve so it's been a shock to take note of how many things I find it difficult to do that used to be so trivial that I didn't even think about them.

I hope everyone's doing well with Cutting the Crap.....whether you're keeping points or not!!! The main thing is that we're still here and communicating with one another, helping each other on this journey!!!

We lost a team member and i'm super swamped at work (on top of a huge shift to a new system) and things a just super crazy. through it all i'm still eating well and exercising! Miss you all! I'm closing my mind to the annoying things that try to derail me. It will pass and I can't allow the nonsense to harm me.

Staying on-plan for WOE and exercise.

LadyBoss - the evictions sound miserable. If you're dealing with the practicalities of it now, I've no idea whether or not it can run smoothly for you.

Ty - good to read the doctor's pleased with your progress. As for the rest, so many people are in badly under-staffed workplaces and it has such consequences for them. Is there any likelihood thing will improve?

What a good way to look at it...... Closing my mind to things that try to derail me.

I like that. Like everyone else it sounds, work is busy-busy for me. Eating comfort food won't make is less busy and gaining weight surely won't make anything easier.

Working at a school, I at least have a break to look forward to.....June 6. I actually work a lot of the sumer, but without kids and teachers there it is peaceful. I come in late, wear casual clothes, work on my little projects. They asked me a couple of weeks ago if I wanted to be a summer school administrator and I paused a millisecond and said- no.

Rumor is that they aren't planning on replacing our lost teammate... If that's true...this will be my caseload size for a while... I am going to have to set some limits to make sure I have at the least a lunch break. I have been self training in our new system, and I do think once I get a hang on it, I will be more efficient at work... Only time will tell

A testament to crap free living:

Went to the doc last week. My first apt when I realized I needed to cut the crap revealed my A1C was .1 from diabetic range. All the way at the highest point of "pre-diabetes." I was so scared, so nervous. I want so much to be healthy, but I can talk myself into all sorts of crap if I let my mind have its way. Well at my last visit, the doc decided we need to do another blood draw- it's been 3 months, I've lost 27 lbs and she wanted to make sure we saw some improvement in my numbers before deciding whether I needed meds.

Well in the mail today, I received my results. A1C and Glucose did in fact come down. In fact, they were BOTH in the NORMAL range! Wooo hooooo! I have not been doing a traditional low carb diet--I've mostly been eating smaller portions, increasing my consumption of plant based foods, and refraining from much processed junk (I still do eat convenience foods at times, but not nearly as much as before).

You ladies have been here for the journey, and I know we are getting really busy, and aren't checking in as often as we were before. But keep it up!!!!
