I am sitting here feeling as sick as a sick puppy.
Why can't I hate sugar that way?
I will not touch that erythritol stuff again ever...yuk.
When I first tried it i got sick too. But the second time I didn't as much. By the third day no problem at all. Think about giving it a little time. Did it affect ketosis? Not sure if u are in ketosis though. Just wondering if u are.

It's been bad! I feel sick and bloated from eating the wrong things and I dread Monday! Such a slippery slope once I start with the carbs. Needless to say...dragging myself back on the wagon today.

Good morning ladies, HAPPY FRIDAY!

Mariah, how are you sweetie?? Where are you?? Are you doing ok?

Sammi, how are you doing???

Rob, I'm sorry the erythritol made you sick, I've never used that before, but Lea's advice makes sense, maybe you have to build up to it? How's everything over in your part of the world??

Lea, How are you doing? How's your WOE treating you? I love your new attitude about it!!

Amy, you can do this!!!! feeling sick and bloated is a great reminder for you of WHY you're getting back on the wagon. Just remember, you DESERVE to be healthy and feel good.....you do NOT deserve the way you feel right now!!

Well ladies, I hope everyone is doing well....despite the struggles a lot of us have had I think we've made TREMENDOUS progress.....truly just acknowledging the struggles and being accountable for them is a HUGE step towards reaching your goals....please don't ANYONE give up!!!

I've gotta get to work, but I'll check in later....have a great day!!

Hi Ladies,

Eating back on plan. Hopefully I will have a loss by Monday, if not I have no one to blame but myself. I have to admit, once I go off plan it's hard getting back on, but I will never give up!! It looks like everyone is doing fantastic. Keep up the good work! Have a fantastic weekend.

Hi ladies...I hope you're all having a fun weekend. We have had great weather here, It was so good this morning I went round twice, on my walking route and I'm off in a minute for another walk.
I discovered chai tea...so indulgent, so nice.
Its my new favourite as of today...move over hot chocolate

Tammy....I am actually glad I did not like the erythritol, I have to buy it online from the US, and its quite pricey...so I saved me the hassle of all that bother of mucking about with customs.

Maria...You know we love you. I'm glad you're not sweating any eating. I've had quite a few slip ups but I'm not sweating it....like Tammy said its a marathon not a sprint and I wholeheartedly agree

Sammi...WTG...never ever give up. It took me since 2010, of trying and never giving up, to finally get to stick to plan. I can't imagine how I would have felt today if I had given up trying.
See how far you've come... You are doing great.

Dana...Great to see you. We have missed you. how's your lil one?
You sure had you some fun, your post reminds me of my favourite place in NO.... margaritaville right in the middle of the French quarters. Their Cesar salad is to die for.

Lea...I'm relieved I did not like it...way too pricey and too much hassle to buy.

Happy Saturday ladies!!

Dana, it's good to see you, we have missed you!!! I love the fat fast....I find its a great tool for helping me to stay focused and on track. I can't not even imagine living down in NO during Mardi Gras......my hats off to you!!

Sammi, good for you getting back on plan, you are so correct.....NEVER give up, we can do this!!

Rob, I don't blame you for not wanting to mess with customs and shipping, what a pain! Chai tea is very yummy, I love it!!!

Well ladies its a nice sunny lazy Saturday here on the coast, the scale is being really mean trying to tell me I'm up a pound....but that just isn't possible since I've been solidly on plan. I think it's probably the antibiotics the doc put me on because of this tooth he worked on. I'll stay true to plan and hope for a nice whoosh soon!

How's everyone else doing?

I hope everyone's having a great day!!

Hi

Good to see everyone is finding a positive view to accomplish their weight loss. I have so many regrets this week. Wish I hadn't done induction. It really put weight on me. Then going out of ketosis caused a few episodes of overeating. Then of course there is the water weight that comes back after ketosis. So needless to say I am even heavier this week. But I have some great plans for this week that I know I can keep. Would rather not post my weight Monday but I probably will. I still find I overeat when I gain. So it's counterproductive to weigh in. But I don't like it having such control over me. So I'm thinking of weighing in daily just to get over it.

Wish I had done low carb my way from the start. But I know I'm finally on the right track. I'm swimming as fast as i can 6 days a week for an hour and 20 mins. Eating healthy and going to break my diet only 1 day ( rather than 2) and allow myself a full day of reasonably healthy treats with a calorie cap of 1800. So I think in time I will develop a deficit and start to lose. I have no one to blame but myself and its going to come off slow and remind me of that. Hoping to lose 5 pound this month. But I'll be happy with 2 :-D

Lea dear please don't let scale readings distress and upset you.
See how far you've come.
See how much weight you have lost despite not being 'plan-perfect'
Many a time, Its not what happens to us that counts....its how we react to it.

When I first started, on the 1st of July 2013 at 227lbs, I was strict, and losing between 14lbs and 17lbs a month that was until Nov when every thing changed. The weight loss began to show, folks began to compliment me, and I started taking liberties.
Since then I have lost the same 10lbs at least four times since.
It used to destroy me to eat off plan. It brought my whole issues upfront and in my face. My self belief, my self esteem was being wrecked because I ate chocolate/cookies (fill in any ole number of stuff), I felt I could not trust myself, to ever do what it takes to lose the weight. I scared myself by 'awfulizing' that I would lose total control and regain all my weight.
I felt truly awful about it all.
I had to sit down and talk to myself.
I reasoned that if in all this time, I have not figured out what it is about food that I still don't 'get', beating myself up, is buying into a destructive mindset, and it won't magically solve the riddle for me.
I had to choose between
being successful at figuring myself and food out...or beating me to a pulp, and getting me so demoralised I would just give up and regain the whole weight any way.
I chose to see me as a work in progress.

Wise ones say ' its not how many times we fall...its how many times we get up'

Please be gentle with you. I know you hurt right now. I just wish you would see how far you've come. Trust yourself a bit more...and soldier on.

Hello ladies, I hope you had a great weekend. We had fantastic weather here. mild, sunny weather. It was beautiful.
I did quite a bit of yard work...glad my garden is finally all done now.
I walked and walked and loved it. If only my eating is just as good.

My weight is not good news I'm afraid...On the up side I am losing inches.....naaa my skin is merely retracting from the previous weight loss effort

Sorry to have been like an undisciplined puppy out on a walk...ya know that pup that stops and sniffs every darn pole, and stone, and hedgehog, and every other thing on the walk. That's moi
I have craved and caved like, I have never done before...I don't know why now, and how to rein it in. Its so frustrating.

On a serious note...I am suspecting that the protein shakes are making me crave sweet/vanilla stuff.
I have not craved this bad in all my life, and the only new thing I am doing is the shakes.

I had a sodium laden curry with peshwari naan flat bread for dinner, as if that was not bad enough then a whole ton of crackers and cheese .
Were it not for my walks, I am sure I would have been up 20lbs by now. Thank God for those walks.

Well I knew it. Boy, looks like I'm on the anti diet. But this week is going to be good. My body can't fight me forever. I've had wicked water fluctuations this week. Been 8 pounds heavier. So today's reading was a relief.

Thanks for the words of inspiration rob. You are always the light in the darkness. I need to be extremely gentle with myself and trust that doing the right things will produce results. I hope the best for you and all our friends this week as we move forward with our weight loss.

I have debated whether I should share this recipe but I'm going to anyway. It looks like a safe way to treat oneself. Although, there is no safe way for me lol.

Enjoy!

On other thing

Rob: "On a serious note...I am suspecting that the protein shakes are making me crave sweet/vanilla stuff.
I have not craved this bad in all my life, and the only new thing I am doing is the shakes."

Funny you should say that because before I started gaining and craving in January I started protein shakes. I was using one with no carbs but I had cravings and felt like it was making me heavier. Read up a bit about the effects of whey protein and learned it causes an insulin spike . The actual whey does this not the carbs in the drink. They recommend it after a weight training workout to push sugar into muscle for growth and recovery. However, they recommended casein protein powder for people sensitive to Insulin spikes or carbs. I'm scared to do protein powder again because of this but maybe one day. Hope this helps!

I'm still bad with quotes and all the other advanced tools. LoL

Good ladies! I don't know WHAT's up with the scales, I've been really good on plan but it's been trying to tell me that I'm up (as much as 2 pounds up Friday) I think it's the antibiotics the doc had me on....I'm done with those now so hopefully I can flush my system and get a whoosh!

Welcome Wicked stitch!

Rob, you're doing so great I have no doubt you'll lose that 8 ounces very quickly! I am not a fan of the protein shakes, they never seem to do anything positive for me....I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find that they sabotage you with cravings. You've been fabulous about the walking....reminds me that I need to get up off my butt and get moving!

Lea, you can do this!!! Kick the scale and just focus on eating clean and drinking LOTS of water!! Rob's encouragement was PEREFECT and exactly what I would say

Sammi GREAT JOB on the loss....very inspiring!

Mariah, love the menu! Eating like that will definitely put you back into ketosis in a hurry!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

SOUP!!

Ladies,

I have to share with you a recipe for the BEST SOUP I think I've ever made.....it was seriously SO GOOD!!!! The recipe was shared in another thread and so I made it this weekend and let me tell you.....it was awesome. My family LOVED IT!! The original recipes called for potatoes, so it would not be low carb, the gal who shared the recipe included her low carb alterations....If you like soup at all this is a keeper:

Zuppa Tuscana

4 slices bacon, diced (I made more and use some to top the soup afterwards)
1 lb ground hot Italian sausage
1 large yellow onion, diced (I only used 1/2 an onion)
4 cloves garlic, minced (I used the preminced jar kind)
4 cups (32 oz) chicken stock
3 cups russet potatoes, cubed (I used 1 bag frozen cauliflower pre-steamed and 1 bag radishes that I quartered and roasted with olive oil and thyme in the oven @350 for 20 minutes till browned)
3/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 cups kale, in bite size pieces
1 cup heavy whipping cream
parmesan cheese, grated

In a large pot, cook the bacon until crispy. Drain the grease. Add the sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once sausage is browned and crumbled, drain off grease leaving a tbsp to saute the onion.

Push the sausage and bacon to the edge of the pot and add the onion to the center; saute until translucent; add garlic; saute until fragrant.

Stir in the stock and potatoes (cauliflower and roasted radishes) , season with salt and pepper, and simmer for about 20 minutes.l

Add kale and heavy whipping cream. Bring to a simmer. Top with parmesan cheese (and extra bacon) when serving.

I promise you it is soooooo good!!!!

LoL
OMG...God bless you for this post.
It has been endless craving. So much so that I figured that if I had this relentless craving at the beginning, I wouldn't have lost a single pound.
I am so glad you posted this.
Boy...its been hellish.
End of protein shakes.

Tammy will regular sausage do?
we don't have Italian sausage here...well if we do, I haven't seen it.
From what my friend google says..'looks like seasoning regular sausage with fennel and anise will do the trick.
Quote:
In the United States, Italian sausage (salsiccia, in Italian) most often refers to a style of pork sausage noted for being seasoned with fennel and/or anise as the primary seasoning. In Italy, however, there are a wide variety of sausages, many of which are quite different from the product commonly known as 'Italian sausage' in the United States.
