What do you eat on your fat fasts? I have never tried a f/f before? Do you lose pounds more quickly?

Usually yes. The last time and once before they were a bust, but I usually lose 1+ pounds a day. They seem to be especially helpful after a bump.

The basics are 1000 calories a day, 80-90% fat. I usually come in about 1100-1500 calories, 82-86% fat. Here's a link to a thread that gives you more info then you could ever ask for.
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/hc...rs-thread.html

My menu tomorrow (if I have dinner with DH) is:
B-Coffee with 1oz HWC, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, 2T Mayo
L- 1 oz Havarti Cheese, Ĺ oz Brazil Nuts, 10 green olives
D Ė Chicken Garlic Sausage, Ĺ can green beans, 1 oz Alfredo Sauce
S Ė 50 grams SF Whip Cream
1161 Calories, 84% fat

It doesnít sound like a lot of food, but with all the fat it kicks butt on hunger. And itís a great change of pace. Cream cheese muffins, full fat salad dressings, avocados, butter, liverwurst, macadamia nuts are also some of the things I eat.

Howíd your shopping trip go? Have you figured out your menu yet?

I came home late (nail appt) so DH had already eaten. I flexed my menu a bit.
B-Coffee with 2oz HWC, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, 2T Mayo
L- 1 oz Havarti Cheese, 1Ĺ oz Brazil Nuts, 10 green olives
D Ė 100 grams SF Whip Cream, 5 green olives
1265 Calories, 90% fat

I was a bit hungry this afternoon, but I feel stuffed now.

How was your day?

Excuses excuses DH has been off work and messing with my routine! Anyway, I finally got the shopping done after work today. I bought avocados, sour cream, cream cheese, chuck roast, hwc, and macadamia nuts. I have no idea what my menu will be so I guess I better do some figuring huh?

I just remembered I have the fat fast cookbook on my kindle, I will look through there and see if anything looks good.

Oh I totally get it! When DH is gone I have so much more control over my WOE. Almost sorry he wasn't gone a couple nights When I do FF I find it so much easier to plan my day ahead on an online tracker and then tweak if necessary as the day go on. Itís especially easy for me to overdo on the protein if I donít keep close track.

I woke up starving and was not impressed with what I had planned for breakfast or any of my normal options. So I pilfered your idea. Sour cream, dark cocoa and SF black cherry syrup.

Iím going to up the calories today and see if that gives me a little whooshie (it usually does). Then come down tomorrow to be ready for an up day on Saturday. I decided to go for it!

How you doing today?

Glad you liked the sour cream. I haven't tried it yet, plan is to have it tonight with my measly 2oz of chuck roast for dinner So far I have had 4 tbl hwc with coffee and a deviled egg. Not really much hunger but that is typical for me at first as I am still full from overeating prior day.

Didn't make it as planned Out of the blue this afternoon I felt like I was going to throw up and got dizzy. I had bacon and macnuts with a large lemon salted water and feel okay now. No idea what my cals are now I just ate rather frantically

Sounds like you're still on plan. Big Kudos to you for sticking with it!! I'll bet it was salt. Especially since you really havenít been eating low carb lately. You might just have some full sodium bouillon or broth to start your day tomorrow.

Today hasnít gone according to plan for me either. I was invited to lunch. I thought I did pretty well, Caesar salad, no meat, sunflower seeds instead of croutons. After adding up the calories though Iím a little worried. If DH wasnít going to be home, and wanting dinner (the nerve ) Iíd be safer, but Iím skard. Oh well I said I wanted a higher day, careful what you wish for I guess.

I think you are right my system is shocked by the fat fast because I wasn't in ketosis or even eating low carb consistently. I think rather than plan out a strict menu I will just concentrate on high fat low carb for now and try a real fat fast later if needed after I am adapted. Hope your dinner with DH goes well.

That sounds real reasonable.

Okay, best guess, I went out to eat twice, 1744 calories 82% fat, 11% protein, 7% carbs. I had to boost my calories up more then I wanted to get the fat % up. That has served me better in the past then the alternative. I guess I can only hope for the best.

Well I can't say I blame you, I'm just about as sick of this madness as you. I did real well today and then there was the wine. And then there was the grilled cheese with the incredible sour dough bread I bought for tomorrow. I feel like I have no room for error. Maybe I can't be a carb eater, but ever!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I have two new words to consider; resistant starch.

I release you from the obligation of the daily dietary madness. But if you want to chat, I'm here. I can't promise not to be a little neurotic from time to time, but we can only do what we can do

Catch you on the rebound my friend!

How are things with you Terri? I am so out of control with my eating and had to pull out my bigger clothes this week, the stuff that was buried away and sworn to never be worn again I can't even pretend I want to do low carb anymore, it makes my anxiety and hot flashes unbearable I need to find a plan that is healthy but am not sure what route to go?

Thanks for your thoughts and support Terri. I have the 21 day program saved on my computer. I took a look at it but honestly I can't find the will or motivation to get serious about any plan at that moment. I feel so guilty and ashamed that I am not taking better care of my health, but I just can't seem to do it I wish so badly that I had the willpower and mindset that got me to goal eating very low carb back in 2010.

How are things with you?

Hey Jeanie!
Iím having trouble with long term motivation. I do well during the week then fall apart on the weekends. Talk about the ultimate yo-yo diet. Iím not feeling it for a hard core sacrifice right now either. I was going to try the 21DSD but I think Iím just going to do Protein Power/Primal lifestyle for a while. Itís a lot friendlier and allows more flexibility. And then Iím just going to make the best choices possible in each situation and call it good, instead of fully committing to a strict plan and then blowing it if I deviate. Iím hoping to get further in the long run. Iím also trying to get back to regular exercise without worrying about a specific plan, just do something every day. And Iím going to take a break from weighing and tweaking for a while. Iím just kind of diet fatigued KWIM? Iím going to just try to live healthy for a while and see how that works. The diet frenzy of the last year hasnít done me any favors.

Maybe we can do the ďnot diet dietĒ together.

Not diet diet

We got another 6 inches of snow and the temp is frickin so cold again I am about to lose my mind Got out for a nice walk/run on Saturday and felt wonderful afterwards, at least until the muscle soreness hit that night Anyway that's the plan just focus on eating the right foods and am going to start the C25K program and an arm challenge. If you're interested in the arm challenge I posted a thread in the exercise forum. I am hoping it is effective as traditional weight lifting kills my elbows and rotator cuff.

I'll join you on the arm challenge

I have issues with knees and hip joints so no aerobics for me. To start with I have a lift/squat combo I do and my body flex breathing exercises, plus I have a friend at work that power walks with me on break.

How is the food thing going Terri. I am at a loss as I think I am going to have to do low carb if I want to lose without feeling sickly hungry. The last few days I get soooo hungry I feel like I am going to be sick. Just not sure what to do I think I have finally sealed my fate and have messed up my metabolism by eating bad carbs. I never got so hungry like I am feeling now.

I thought I was going to have to check in and confess my lack of will power and common sense about bad carbs with my tail between my legs. I’m sorry if I felt better knowing that you clearly understood my pain.

I realized yesterday, at this point anyway, I do not possess “the everything in moderation” gene and will need to have some sort of plan to stick with. I know what works to lose rather quickly. Unfortunately as a short term plan, I have been gaining back just as quickly because once I stop, I really stop. I have come to the conclusion that I need a long term, plan I can stick with if I want to get anywhere. And the only way I can do that is to find one I can live with. I have picked Protein Power. The carbs are higher 30-45, the food choices are not really restricted as long as you stay under your carb limit. I.e. they say if you want five Skittles have five Skittles, but you could have five cups of broccoli instead. Plus you can have a glass of wine or two and still be on plan. At this point I can totally live with that. It may take me more time then I’d like, but the quick fixes of the last year haven’t gotten me anywhere. I also figure if I couple it with my daily “something” exercise plan, how can I lose?

So after making that grand decision last night I picked up a pizza and cookies. Really??? So I’m still not weighing in for a while. But at least I did my arm challenge before I went to bed.

My plan:

Day 1- atkins shake doctored up with almond milk, full fat cottage cheese and dash of s/f chco. pudding, bacon jerky, 2 atkins frozen meals with an extra egg added to the breakfast entrees. Coffee w/light cream and lots of lemon water. cla/gla combo and 1/2 tbl. mct oil in the shake.

Day 2- Meat and eggs only (nothing processed!) cla/gla & 1/2 tbl. mct oil

I am going to alternate this way for awhile and see how it goes. I lose best with meat and eggs, but can't do it for long without getting bored!

That looks like a great plan.

Maybe I'll look at the GLA/CLA combo again too. I still have some left. What doses do you do?

I'm going to work on some smoothie recipes too, that sounds yummy. It's getting warm enough in the mornings now. I'm still not big on eggs lately for breakfast.

My menu today is:
B Ė 2 boiled eggs, 2 bacon, HWC in coffee
L Ė Med can Tuna in Olive Oil
D Ė Chicken Breast in Mesquite Marinade with green salad and Caesar dressing
S Ė SF Whip Cream

Good Morning and Happy Friday!
Well I finally bit the bullet and weighed in. I kind of wanted a starting point for PP. The bad news is I gained back everything I lost last month. The good news is I didnít add any more. Itís killing me to reset my stats, but at least that way I can start seeing them click down sooner and that Ďs always motivating.
